The Lexington is more than a restaurant, it’s an institution. Located on the corner of Lexington Parkway and Grand Avenue, this St. Paul community was the most fashionable at the turn of the 19th century. The St. Paul elite lived just blocks away and the first electric trolley brought visitors up and down Grand Avenue. The Lexington opened in 1935, after the end of prohibition, and was a popular neighborhood bar to gather and socialize. Previously operating as a speakeasy, the expansive wood panels were perfect for hiding a little booze and one can only imagine the shenanigans going on beyond the hidden staircase behind the coat check. For decades following, The Lex, as it’s called by locals and enthusiasts alike, was the place to be seen; business dealings, cocktail hours, and milestone celebrations were a regular occurrence for St. Paul socialites.

Wow! Took a chance and picked a place I had never been for a client dinner while visiting St. Paul. Everything was excellent! Old supper club feel with nice variety of classic dishes and specialties. Do not miss the walleye cakes or Wellington.

We understand it was very busy but it did take quite a bit of time for us to recieve our food. It seemed the entire room we were sitting in recieved their food about the same time regardless of who sat down first etc. Other than that it was a great evening. thanks

We were served ice cold soggy waffles. When I brought this to the waiter’s attention he took them and brought some Luke warm ones no apology. Unbelievable. This was supposed to be a special Mother’s Day brunch. Clearly this restaurant wasn’t prepared. All of our food was cold after a long wait. Nothing they did made my mom feel special. If you are going to serve a 30 dollar waffle please put a little effort into it. Perkins would have been better. One and done for the Lexington in my book.

Our waiter Matt was awesome! Wonderful evening and will be back. On suggestion is to list the price of Valet Parking outside out of courtesy to you patrons. That is standard at all restaurants unless it is complimentary. And it is a healthy change for some, so be considerate and transparent.

We had a great dinner on a busy Friday night. Our server Chuck was attentive, friendly, and efficient. Our food was excellent, especially the Lex burger and the meatloaf Wellington. We could immediately tell the higher quality of the ground beef since they started butchering in-house. The whole meal was well paced and very enjoyable.

Celebratory dinner with our college grad! Our server Chuck made it special and tableside manner was excellent. Food and wine pairings were outstanding. Already looking forward to a return visit.

Outstanding dining experience. Our server, Farrah, was amazing with her attentiveness and recommendations. The wine list was terrific and the food, wow, can’t recommend it highly enough. You have to get a steak, grilled asparagus and don’t forget the gnocchi, you won’t regret it. Definitely will be back!!

2 ⭐️ removed for hour long wait of entree. 2 ⭐️ for the soggy calamares & pasta. Steak looked like left over trimming pieces. Should have left when next table had order redone. Never saw the manager. Recover attempt was an offer of one free dessert which we turned down. $15 cocktail was very watered down & served in a battered copper mug. Not the same since Covid.

Service was excellent - environment was classic - Rib Eye steak was not the best- I would have expected a better steak for the price.

Great food and wonderful ambience. Easy to carry on conversations. Our friends arranged for a bottle of wine to be delivered to our table and that went very smoothly.

It was our first visit to this restaurant and every part of the experience was great. First off they (and OpenTable) handled multiple modifications to our reservation from 6 to 11 and finally to 12. When we arrived we were seated right on time and had a nice big table in the back of the room so were not surrounded by other diners. The service by Saul and the rest was perfect and the food was outstanding. They handled our boisterous birthday party very well and even gave us a portrait picture to help remember a great evening and experience.

Andrew was wonderful. Probably top 3 service I’ve had in my life. There was a small issue with my entree but it was quickly resolved. First time there, would definitely go back

We enjoyed jazz night in the Williamsburg Room. Our table was right by the stage, so we were wondering if we would still be able to hear each other at our table, but the volume was perfect. Our server was outstanding! He gave great recommendations on portions of sides and menu items. And he was fun. The filet, pork chop and swordfish (particularly the topping), gnocchi and dirty beans were delicious. Not our first time at The Lexington, and not our last!

The Lexington is my go-to for fine dining, so celebrating my wedding anniversary there was a given. As always, the experience was top notch from beginning to end. Amazingly attentive service by Andrew. Delicious, perfectly prepared food. Lively, welcoming environment as we sat right next to the live jazz band. Andrew even brought us extra bread to enjoy every last bit of the delicious pan seared scallop sauce. We left with full stomachs and hearts.

It was an excellent day experience as always. Jazz music plus high quality delicious food and excellent high class service all are what you can enjoy at the Lexington restaurant. And both the Lex drink and the Lex chocolate cake are unique items at the Lexington restaurant I suggest to try.

This was a very important day for the family as our son received his Masters and is heading off for his doctorate. We had a 5:45 reservation on 4/26 for Elizabeth. Our server was so helpful. He made sure he got a dessert for my son and his girlfriend. He brought the photographer over. All the food was wonderful. We had the Meatloaf Wellington, Lobster spaghetti, Mariner's Salad and Seared Scallops. We also had asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes. What a great spot for important events and memories. Server was amazing. Food was amazing. There were two things that were a little off. First, when we arrived at 4:10, there were only two other tables with customers. We were seated in a lovely booth right next to another couple also in a booth. Given there was more room to be spread out, I would have appreciated a little space in between our table and the other table. Then, as other customers kept coming, we were all put into the same area. The noise level went up considerably and was a definite downfall to the ambiance. Second, there was a large group of women in the bar who were standing and blocking the doorway. They were also quite loud and it would have been nice if they had been not standing in the doorway. We had to walk around the front of the restaurant to use the restrooms. However, as stated earlier, the food was absolutely AMAZING, as was the server!

This was a WOW, and I don't know that we have had such a wonderful experience since pre-CV times. The food was great, but what stood out the most was the service. For sure top 5 in my adult memory. We can't wait to go back!

I made a reservation here to celebrate my husbands birthday. We could not have had a better time! When we arrived they wished him happy birthday. We were surprised and delighted that there was a live jazz band performing. We got seated at the best seat for watching the band. The ambience was very fun and lively. The serving team was friendly and attentive and never let our water glasses get empty. The cocktail menu has some great options including riffs on the Old Fashioned with various spirits. We had the lobster cauliflower appetizer, the steak Diane and the filet mignon, the hominy grits and the grasshopper pie. No notes. They took a photo and gave us a card to honor my husbands birthday. Thank you to everyone at the Lex for making birthday date night memorable!

Our server McKenzie was terrific. It was girls night out/happy hour. Enjoyed great wine and some yummy appetizers.

We visited for a birthday dinner. Service was wonderful, meals were good overall. A couple of the guests did not enjoy as much but still, rated good overall. Pricing is high but expected for this caliber of restaurant. Was very nice overall. Nice bonus with the dessert and group photo for birthday! Looking forward to coming back for rooftop experience this summer.
