The Lexington is more than a restaurant, it’s an institution. Located on the corner of Lexington Parkway and Grand Avenue, this St. Paul community was the most fashionable at the turn of the 19th century. The St. Paul elite lived just blocks away and the first electric trolley brought visitors up and down Grand Avenue. The Lexington opened in 1935, after the end of prohibition, and was a popular neighborhood bar to gather and socialize. Previously operating as a speakeasy, the expansive wood panels were perfect for hiding a little booze and one can only imagine the shenanigans going on beyond the hidden staircase behind the coat check. For decades following, The Lex, as it’s called by locals and enthusiasts alike, was the place to be seen; business dealings, cocktail hours, and milestone celebrations were a regular occurrence for St. Paul socialites.

The food and service were both outstanding! Among the top tier of dining destinations in the Twin Cities. I’d return in a heartbeat!

Wow! Took a chance and picked a place I had never been for a client dinner while visiting St. Paul. Everything was excellent! Old supper club feel with nice variety of classic dishes and specialties. Do not miss the walleye cakes or Wellington.

We understand it was very busy but it did take quite a bit of time for us to recieve our food. It seemed the entire room we were sitting in recieved their food about the same time regardless of who sat down first etc. Other than that it was a great evening. thanks

Our server Charlotte was AWESOME!!!! I took my mom here for Mother’s Day and Charlotte made our whole experience special. Will definitely be back!

We were served ice cold soggy waffles. When I brought this to the waiter’s attention he took them and brought some Luke warm ones no apology. Unbelievable. This was supposed to be a special Mother’s Day brunch. Clearly this restaurant wasn’t prepared. All of our food was cold after a long wait. Nothing they did made my mom feel special. If you are going to serve a 30 dollar waffle please put a little effort into it. Perkins would have been better. One and done for the Lexington in my book.
