Positioned on the East Side Beltline trail, The James Room is a dark and moody cocktail lounge that is meant to be a place where you can leave your stresses at the door and immerse in the energetic vibrations of our cozy and intimate space. Upon entry, an upscale coffee shop takes your gaze. During the day, the cafe intriguingly offers unique flavors such as sea salt lavender and rosemary sage, or you can opt for a classic vanilla or caramel addition to your joe if you fancy. A few paces away is an inconspicuous door disguised as a bookcase, leading to the speakeasy area equipped with a peculiar mood. The atmosphere feels intimate yet communal and invokes a sense of leisure. The fine leathers and premium seating upgrade your typical lounge visit to an elevated, exclusive treat. Once you get settled, indulge in our savory light bites and carefully hand-crafted cocktail menu...and if you're lucky, maybe even the sounds of a DJ spinning some of your favorite hits.

It was our first time visiting and we enjoyed ourselves. My only issues is that it’s a two hour seating limit. We wanted to stay longer but … Anyway, the good was good and not overly priced. We will definitely visit again.

Great hidden gem on the on the belt-line! The speakeasy r&b vibe was perfect for our date night. Great service, awesome ambiance, delicious food, creative drinks, and great music! I can’t wait to visit again!

Nice ambience although music was a bit loud for the size of the space and the amount of people. I didn’t order food but my friends seemed to enjoy what they ordered. Service was pretty good up until I received my check and told the bartender I was overcharged for two drinks. He indicated that gratuity and taxes were included as if I couldn’t read - this was already stated on the menu. I then repeated that I was overcharged and he just stared at me…..the price for a martini per the menu was $15.50 but I was charged $17 although no modifications were made to the drink. $1.50 isn’t a huge difference but it’s the principle. Review your bill.

The entertainment was amazing especially the singer Jori! Flatbread was superb and I’m not vegan.

Beautiful cool place but absolutely ridiculous noise and loudness!!! Everyone YELLS like crazy to each other, all you hear is screaming and on top even louder crazy level and volume of music!!! Like WHY IN THE WORLD???? Its not a night club, people come to SIT DOWN AND TALK!!! My ears hurt, my throat hurts, i lost my voice today and still couldn’t hear what my friend was saying like half of it!!! Absolutely don’t get it and now i read reviews and its everyone’s complaint!!! I would be definitively back for ambience and drinks/food but not until it regulates the ridiculous unacceptable and unexplainable level of NOISE!!! Ruined my evening and whole experience! Will never be back unfortunately….

Lovely intimate date spot. Amber made some amazing cocktails, vibe was nice, service was great and overall recommended for those interested.

Service was fair. Atmosphere was too loud for a speakeasy. Was seated under an air vent so was uncomfortable the entire time. The charcuterie board was really good along with the drink but will not return due to the atmosphere

Drinks were great and we had a delicious charcuterie board. However, our seats were uncomfortable and the room was obnoxiously loud. So loud I could not hear the person seated across from me. It was as if we were sitting in the middle of a teen nightclub. I really wanted to love this place because the decor was beautiful. But it was not the mature & more sophisticated vibe I was looking for.
