The newly opened Ivy Royal Windsor is the latest gem in our modern-day brasserie crown. Located close to Windsor Castle, it is the perfect place for locals and the visitors who flock here to see the changing of the guard ceremony, to enjoy delectable dishes and celebratory drinks.

In light of Windsor's rich royal heritage, beautifully designed interiors are brimming with elegant touches. Delicate shades of red and gold feature on sumptuous soft furnishings and in the finish of our sophisticated central bar, while pretty jewel-like colours can also be seen in stunning murals and carefully-curated artworks. Very nice and the same as all the others I’ve been to. Lovely waiting staff and beautiful decor. Four of us were there for total of 1hr 15 mins - seemed rushed. No starters, 1 x cider; 1 x wine, 1 x bottle lager, 1 x Coke. Two steaks, two salmon main meals and two deserts - bill £250 - we eat out at lots and this made by eyes water. Fillet was delicious - but rib eye average! Salmon gorgeous too.

It's a chain restaurant! The food is so-so, the menu offerings are limited, all with low value for money.

We had a nice bistro meal here. The staff were attentive and the food was good standard bistro fare. We were disappointed to have been seated in a dark corner when we had specifically asked for a window table. Would recommend for a tourist lunch or supper but would recommend looking elsewhere for something really special.

Even though this was celebration, I had left a message it was for my Husbands investiture day ( Husband in uniform and we were all in smart formal wear) there was not any comment or congratulations given. The nibbles and sides were hugely overpriced as well as the service charge. Dining for 4 for 2 course totally at £360 was rather excessive.

Our table wasn't ready when we arrived even though we had pre booked and we had to wait 10 minutes. Our afternoon tea arrived and then we had to wait a further 10 minutes for the actual tea to arrive. The ratio of savoury to sweet was very poor, only 3 savoury sandwiches each. No variation of scones. I have been to many afternoon teas and you get more savoury variety and a variation of plain & fruit scones. The cream & Jam wasn't enough to fill all 4 scones, so we ended up taking 2 scones home. This was a gift from my daughter for Mothers Day, so I had a gift card, but ended up paying more for the afternoon tea and a service charge, which I only found out today I could have refused as the service wasn't that great.

First experience of afternoon tea in England and it did not disappoint! The service was excellent from the start from the hostess to the manager to the servers. We felt welcome and comfortable. The atmosphere was relaxed and cheery. The restaurant was mildly full of many happy diners. The booth we sat in was cozy and just right for tea. The decor was fun and added to the cheerfulness. Food was excellent! The pastries were a little on the too sweet side but still tastey. Got a little treat for my birthday of a chocolate éclair which was the best dish of the meal 😍 Highly recommend.

The service and general atmosphere were excellent. If there is one thing a larger choice of sandwiches or just more sandwiches as opposed to cake would have been nicer.
