Great service, friendly staff and lovely food but the restaurant lacks the wow factor that other Ivy's I have visited at Winchester & Brighton.

Great service and food. Very beatiful restaurant in the city center, elegant surroundings. The Steak Tartar was brilliant, the same with the blackened cod. Squid and scallops as starters was also very good. Overall a very good experience!

Came here with my girlfriend for afternoon tea, and unfortunately though the food was good, the service definitely wasn't. We were seated almost immediately, and yet it took twenty minutes for anyone to take orders for drinks, and another five minutes to get water for the table. The first waiter was disinterested and hardly spoke a word, then disappeared across the room to attend to other diners instead. Another waiter brought drinks but didn't say a word and couldn't leave fast enough. The food didn't appear for almost an hour after being seated - despite the fact that a table who arrived at roughly the same time were served over twenty minutes earlier. When I queried this it was brushed off with 'the kitchen is busy' - and yet tables arriving later than we did were being served in good time. It was only once I decided to pay for drinks and leave to find somewhere with better service that surprisingly our food arrived - with yet another staff member. All in all a disappointing experience - and I can't help but wonder if it was like this as we were the only gay couple there. Wouldn't recommend.

This was the first time we have had a bad experience at any Ivy Restaurant. Food was excellent as always. Service however was terrible/non existant. We had no idea who our server was and had to chase anyone who was passing about drinks etc. Very disappointing.

I went by myself and sat by the bar and everyone was very attentive. The drinks and food were really good. Prepare to spend some money though.

Absolutely fabulous experience for our first anniversary! Our server (unsure of her name) went above and beyond for us some champagne and a dessert for it being our wedding anniversary. Food and ambience was amazing as usual! This was our first trip to the Ivy in Edinburgh and We will be back for sure.

Good old first class authentic service! Food and atmosphere was lovely. Menu choice could be improved a little. However what we had was melt in the mouth! First visit, however we will be back!

Superb selection of Vegetarian/Vegan food. Polite, professional service. Prices compare really well to other establishments: even more so when comparing the absolute quality of the food. Will definitely be going again when we're next in Edinburgh.

We did the 1917 menu for my 50th birthday Service lacklustre and inattentive Took over an hour for food to come which was good when it came Forgot to give me my birthday cake until I was leaving. Can do better!!

Enjoyed eating from the 1971 Menu. Thank you for giving us a table on ground floor and at the window end. We were well looked after by a delightful waiter who didn't seem to be around when we left at 3pm. So couldn't thank him. Will be booking in June.

The food service was amazing by our waitress Katelyn. Although my review was overall good, it is mainly because Katelyn our waitress gave us a really good service, the thing that disappointed us was that their card machine wasn't working at all and we were told to walk all the way to the ATM to get some cash to pay , we dont carry cash with us and its almost 11pm we had no choice but to do it because their machine wasnt working. The other waitress said she will call the manager to explain but the manager did not see us and it was our waitress who apologized to us.

Reserve a table, it was very crowded. All in all my experience was nice. Food was good, drinks were excellent. Had a great waitress and a good time. Would come back when in town. What I will never understand: why parents with a maybe 2 years old have to dine at around 8pm. The child was obviously tired and cried a lot. If you have something to celebrate this will kill all festive vibes.

Very disappointing. Table booked for Saturday evening. Seated promptly however sat for 30 minutes and no member of staff came anywhere near us. Left without anyone offering a drink or taking any kind of order. Not good enough for a place like The Ivy.

Food was excellent but the service from the manager was very poor. We looked at the wine list and point 1 is the prices are ridiculous. Realise that they have a mark up on them but no need to make it so excessive. Point 2 was that they had run out of stock of the wine we selected. Was a £36 bottle of wine and all manager could say was what about the next sauvignon whcih was an additional £12. £48 for a bottle of wine was too much and manager didn't seem interested in resolving the issue. How can a restuarant run out of a bottle of wine at 17:30 on a Saturday night.

My mum and I had early lunch here before a trip to the theatre. The atmosphere was lovely and chatty, the food was tasty and the service was attentive. It felt a bit special, too.

Having dined several times at Ivy in Edinburgh, York and Dublin I guess I am finding it getting a bit stale. The menu never seems to change. Also find that the drink menu prices are far too expensive and the wine list starting price very high compared to other restaurants of a similar standard.

Excellent experience at The Ivy Edinburgh. Staff were very attentive and food was good. The only reason we didn't give it 5 stars was the noise level of the music. We felt it was far too loud, with the result everyone in the restaurant had to raise their voices to be heard. I found it difficult to hear my friends talking at the other end of our table!! Quieter background music would be much better.

Very nice njoyabl but a 75ml glass of Sauvignon, not picked but asked for to the waiter at £15 was a bit steep

Lovely breakfast and coffee for my daughter and myself- we had poached eggs and avocado - perfect for vegetarians and served hot and beautifully presented - impeccable manners from staff too

Some of the wait staff were friendly but some were more stand off ish and we waited quite a while for a coffee to come and when it did it was cold.

The Ivy Edinburgh was a nice experience. We went for my husband's birthday. The food was lovely. I had the sea bass with shrimp sauce, mash and sea greens. My husband had coconut and chicken curry with rice. We both enjoyed our main meal. For desert we had the selection of cheeses, crackers, grapes and chutney which was enjoyed. As it was my husband's birthday he was also given a little complimentary birthday profiterol with a candle and happy birthday chocolate. What a nice touch. The only complaint is that it is very busy (5pm Saturday) and a little crammed as tables are very close together.
