The Private Room at The Ivy Chelsea Garden seats 30 on one long table, or 24 on three round tables of 8, and is available for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as drinks and canapé receptions for 50 guests, 7 days a week.Decorated in a similar style to The Ivy Chelsea Garden, the walls of The Private Room are adorned with colourful vintage botanical prints and sumptuous floral artwork. The bespoke patterned white Carrara and Fior de Pesco grey marble tiled flooring, eclectic mix of vintage dining chairs upholstered with bold floral and palm printed fabric and hanging gilt leaf pendants add a touch of glamour to the room.With a selection of menus available, specially created by our Executive Chef, Sean Burbidge, The Private Room is equally as suited to private parties and wedding celebrations as it is for corporate breakfasts, lunches and dinners. There is a beautiful marble top private bar decorated with bevelled antique mirror panels and trimmed brass.

My wife and I requested a table in the garden, but it wasn't available, so we were seated on the terrace instead. The setting was pleasant, but unfortunately, our table was positioned between two pathways used by the waitstaff to serve food. We were constantly collided by the waiters which led to an unpleasant dining experience. The service was unprofessional, the waitress at end of the dinner asked us to order something else otherwise they would have brought the bill…obviously they needed the table for other customers we understand it but there is surely a better way to manage the situation instead of being simply rude. We paid 208 pounds in two so the bill was a first class bill but the service was not in compliance with it. While the food was satisfactory, our expectations for a delightful evening with excellent cuisine were not met.

I have been to the Ivy Garden before and experienced very slow service, however, this time it was excellent. Beautiful garden, fantastic waiter who was always there when needed, very professional and food was delicious - a great dinner!

From positive previous experience I suggested my friends and we were there to celebrate one of the friends birthday. I must say it was a complete disappointment and embarrassing for me as they all came on my suggestion. There was a fly on my drink to start with. The pinacolada had no taste as it was covered with ice mostly. The lady supposed to serve us didn't attend us because she came running to the table with the cake candle wanting to know if it is sparkling candle. This ruined the surprise for my friends birthday treat. You are in a hospitality business and surprise treat dinner must be very common. She should have ask for the person book the table and ask discretely about the candle. When I pointed this out for her asking the birthday girl about the candle, she got offended and didn't apologise or attend our table at all. From the starting we had to call out to servers for every single thing. From having a fly in the drink, no sugar was served with the tea, no tea/coffee menu was presented until asked for it, we were 5 but presented with 3 milk/cream until asked for the remaining 2. We didn't have any allocated servers so every time we had to ask someone that was serving the tables nearby. It was very embarrassing for me and my friends, we all felt uncomfortable and disappointed with the service but yet had to pay your service charge. Our initial plan was to come back for dinner later but with all the disappointment we left and find somewhere else for dinner. We drove all the way from Cambridge, find parking place and the walk in the heat to get to your restaurant, all for disappointment. I have always spoke very highly of your service but this was a very expensive and time consuming disappointment.

Had a nice time but it was my dad’s 70th birthday and we’re Australians spending this milestone birthday in London. I put it in the notes and checked when we arrived but nothing special was arranged which was really disappointing.

Great spot with outdoor and partial outdoor garden that are charming. Seafood Thai dish of monk fish curry, shrimp fish was perfect. Enjoyed medium sized servings- allowing amazing cheese soufflé appetizer. Service was good, friendly and professional but had minor delays filling wine glasses back up.

We used to love going here but what has happened?! Dreadfully slow service - albeit friendly. We ordered our old favourites and the food was dry and lacking in flavour. Decor looking tired - seat pads on bench in need of a good clean. So disappointing.

Took over 20 minutes to be served, didn't receive plates to eat our afternoon tea, had to ask multiple times for service e.g. water, for menus, for plates/ cutlery and for the bill. The waiter we asked for these things put down the waitress who was serving us IN FRONT OF US, it was extremely unprofessional and uncomfortable. The afternoon tea was underwhelming, sandwiches were dry and the ratio of jam & cream for 4 scones was too little, teas were not served until 5 mins into receiving the food. Service was inconsistent, with tables around us too. Two diners next to us had servers come out with their mains but their plates were not cleared beforehand - so it caused a bit of a scene which didn't add to the ambience. We came for my mom's birthday and were made to feel like an inconvenience and an irritation.

Have been to The Ivy in Kings Road many times. Last night’s cheese soufflé appetizer was outstanding - my daughter was so jealous! She’ll be getting it the next time she goes to The Ivy. Very pleasant waiter - great service.

We had an amazing dinner. The reception team was very helpful accommodating us to the table of our choice and we received a great service from Fabian. The steak tartare and the Mexican chicken are delicious. We’ll definitely come back.

We go regularly for dinner at an Ivy restaurant when we visit London, and the one in Chelsea is our favorite. Food and ambience are very good and yesterday evening we were also lucky to have Lavinia taking care of us!

Service was appalling. Had to get up to pay as server just kept ‘forgetting’ to bring the machine. Good was average, bit bad but nothing memorable. The ambiance is very nice.

Overall a very disappointing experience - we were made to wait for the table (although we arrived on time) which was fine but we were then put in the main corridor right by the waitering station and not in "the Garden" as I requested when booking. This area was very noisy with the waitering staff shouting across to each other. The food was fine but there were no Sunday roasts (at 1430!) but we were told the brunch was available but hurry as it was ending soon - we were coming out to have a Sunday lunch, so this was poor. The team did bring out an éclair and candle for my wife's birthday but I would have preferred for her to have the more memorable Birthday Bomb, even if I was charged for it... It felt like a more expensive, chain restaurant experience, and nothing more. We won't rush back!

We love eating at the Ivy as the food is consistently good. But as we are regulars it might be quite nice to have some changes and new dishes to choose. We also have recommended to friends who have been disappointed with the quality. We haven’t noticed this. But it’s better for you to be aware of what customers are saying. We are having our daughters30th birthday with 10 of us on the10thMay in Bath. We hope it will be as good as we’ve always had at the Ivy.

Everything as as good as expected. Even received a birthday candle and the service was very attentive and their uniforms were immaculate.

Great food, good atmosphere, flexible to our changing booking needs. Only negative was service was a little bit slow.

Love the buzz and the efficient professionalism of the staff. Starters seem a bit smaller than expected and desserts a bit big !

Terrible experience. The Ivy used to be a fairly decent brand. Now, you’re shown curtly to the world’s smallest table, where they cram you in like sardines. I felt we were dining with the couple next to us, it was awkward, nearly bumping elbows with them. (I’m 5ft3 and 9stone- not a big person). The coffee took 25minutes to come and was cold. Breakfast was okay but my god the service was abysmal and ambience shocking. Saw a family up and leave as they waited so long, despite at least ten or so staff milling about and avoiding eye contact with the patrons as best they could.

This was a complete disaster! I booked a table for four people to have breakfast on Saturday. I arrived earlier than the others and was served coffee - so far so good - but it all went wrong when the other three arrived. We waited 25 minutes and my guests still hadn’t been served the coffee they ordered, my husband’s bacon and eggs then arrived which he sent back as the bacon was almost entirely uncooked and therefore inedible, the waitress (who appeared not to understand why we were actually there) was chewing gum throughout and each time we asked the Maitre d’ for anything we had ordered (and still not actually got) he kept disappearing in a rage without seemingly doing anything about it. For me the gum chewing was the last straw and at that point we walked out to go somewhere more deserving of our custom and money. They weren’t even busy!
