Service and food were exceptional!! Really friendly gentleman that helped us. We felt well taken care of and he was very genuine. The food was delicious! Chili lime tempura shrimp were amazing. Highly recommend the bread pudding! It was the best I’ve ever had.

Thoroughly enjoyed the Independent, it's a true gem in Placerville. The service is fantastic, everyone is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Great cocktails, and wines by the glass are interesting and varied. My wife and I had the beet and wedge salads, respectively, and were very happy with both. We then shared the pork chop, which was absolutely incredible. We finished it off with the bread pudding, which was great. Might just be the best "pub" food we've ever had.

Right from the time we set foot in the door, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality by Jake Brakke, who set the table for an outstanding experience. The food was all top notch, especially the battered fries, calamari and the most unusual and delicious turnip fries! Never had them before, but more places should try them! The Niçoise salad was perfect, the Caesar’s were quite nice and the wedge was artfully executed. Our waiter was awesome, as were all the service staff, clearing plates and bringing anything we needed with dispatch. We had an outstanding time here and will be back!

Very nice lunch. Everyone liked their choices. Everything came hot and tasting good. I appreciated the awareness of the two birthdays we were celebrating. Excellent service throughout our stay. Look forward to returning.

Service is always great. Ahi Niçoise salad was the best Niçoise salad I’ve ever had. Calamari appetizer was enjoyed by whole table - but only chosen because they were out of their famous turnip fries. Others in party both had salmon entree. Bread pudding for dessert was enough to share, but the affogato is really the number one choice if you like espresso!

Birthday lunch for a friend. Outstanding attentive staff went out of their way for us. Fish and Chips best I have ever had. Turnip fries were amazing never want potato fries again. Chocolate molten cake with orange whip cream to die for.

Valentines dinner for 4. Requested outdoor fireplace seating. It was raining but we were warm and dry under the cover. Nice ambiance. Reservation ensured we were seated on time. Servers were all great. Food was excellent right thru dessert. Strongly recommend the Independent for your next special event or just dinner. We will be back.

We love The Independent!! You got to know how special Jeff is to have the same staff for years and making it through Covid. We always recommend The Independent and always bring family and friends there. Awesome place to eat and have a cocktail!!!

The food and drinks was good. We were finishing our drinks and was ask if we could wrap it up after we payed a 365.00 bill from our reservation and anniversary. Wanted to make room from a new reservation.

We went on a busy Friday night so it’s understandable they were not as attentive as I would hope. The calamari was very tasty. My steak got overcooked but they didn’t serve it that way, instead they remade it before bringing it out so the wait time for the food was longer than usual, but everything came out perfectly. The steak was very flavorful on its own, and the sides were amazing. I also got an espresso martini and it was delicious. Overall very happy with this place and definitely would come back.

Excellent craft cocktails and the food was amazing. Loved the turnip fries. The restaurant was packed, but the service was still very good. Would definitely eat here again while visiting the area.

Appreciate their willingness to make substitutions in our meal. Our sandwich came with chicken thigh meat & they allowed us to change to breast meat. Sandwich was still very good!

Excellent food. If you like a good steak, this is the best place in Placerville. Cooked to perfection. All the meals here are the best quality. Interesting appetizers. full bar, patio has heaters, so plenty warm.

We had a lovely dinner with friends celebrating a birthday. The short rib entree was amazing! Everything was delicious and we will continue to return for our special dinners. The restaurant itself is intimate, but they also have a large outside seating with big fireplace and heaters.
