Founded in 2014 by two LSU alums that had a hankering for some home cooking, The Gumbo Bros started as a small pop-up in New York City and has grown to a full service bar & restaurant featuring legit cajun & creole cuisine with locations in Brooklyn, New York and Nashville, Tennessee.

With an emphasis on proper cooking methods, family recipes and regional sourcing (gulf shrimp, New Orleans French bread etc.) The Gumbo Bros & Chef Adam Lathan have received major accolades from customers & press alike including The New York Times, Forbes, Eater, The Wall Street Journal. Absolutely Delicious! It was my first time visiting Gumbo Bros! My group couldn’t make up our minds on what to eat so we chose to order many different things to all share ! The gumbo Flight was delicious, the fried okra was super fresh, southern potato salad was the bomb ! We tried the fried green tomatoes with shrimp let’s just they were the star of the whole experience! The Honey Hot Chicken po boy was right on point with sweetness to spice ratio! We also went at 5pm and it was still happy hour so most of our meal was on Special ! I have been coming to Nashville for over a decade now and I can say Gumbo Bros will be added to my list of always have to have when I visit !

With Louisiana and New Orleans being a part of my family history, I LOVE Cajun and Creole food. But one of the drawbacks is when people confuse hot with well seasoned. With too much pepper, the natural flavors of the food can be lost. This was the case with the seafood gumbo, in which the heat increased as you ate the dish. However, the fried catfish was amazing, and the side of French bread was delightfully light and airy! Service was good, without being overwhelming. I loved the informality of Gumbo Bros! We will be back!

First time to visit. Very good food with a priced to value meal. Meaning we got a large portion for a very good price. Sometimes in this neighborhood that’s not always the case. Sunday Easter night, staffing was very good keeping up with the large crowd of dinners. Very impressed with the service staff working under a large number of dinners. We will be back in the future.

Hey we had a blast! Came for the gumbo, GOT the gumbo. On our particular night they appeared to be short-staffed so being seated and the service experience wa a tad slow. The server was super-friendly and the food was delicious. Definitely would recommend.

Will was our server and he was great! The food was incredible. We had the fried green tomato appetizer with poached shrimp on top and a white sauce that was delicious. The table had the shrimp po boy! The bread is amazing and the shrimp cooked perfectly. Other guests had the crawfish etouffee and the gumbo and said both were delicious. Oh and the margarita was yummy! Would definitely go again!

The food was delicious. The two of us shared the peeland eat shrimp (there were 8) appetizer. The catfish po boy and roast beef po boy were delicious. Service was great. Will definitely go back.

We were looking for a good Cajun restaurant to go to for my birthday. The shrimp baskets were very good. The shrimp were very lightly battered and the seasoned waffle fries were great. The Margaritas were also very good. Will definitely be going back.

The server was helpful and friendly but she really wasn’t very good. Hailing from New Orleans myself, I was very excited by the idea of a restaurant with owners from New Orleans as well. However, the food was way too spicy hot. Cajun/creole food is supposed to be flavorful but not Nashville Hot - even if you are eating it in Nashville. You could tell that the food had the potential to be good but it was cooked with so much red &/or Cajun pepper, that it lost the flavors of New Orleans. We will definitely not be returning.

Good food. Best gumbo I’ve had in Tennessee. Po’ Boy was great!! Recommend trying it out.

Maybe we caught them on an “off night” but we spent $90 on a gumbo flight, medium seafood gumbo, catfish basket and one iced tea and one water. Seafood gumbo was very spicy but we didn’t get much of the seafood taste. My medium sized seafood gumbo bowl had about 3 shrimp.

The staff was super friendly. I ordered a shrimp Poeboy and my boyfriend ordered gumbo. The food was great, and the service was even better. Very nice people.

Good, but not great. Food's fine, but not as authentic New Orleans as advertised. Parking situation is HORRENDOUS. Voodoo Gumbo far exceeds Gumbo Bros if you're looking for a Nashcille taste of the Big Easy.

I'm originally from the MS gulf coast, about an hour from NOLA, and this place was right on par with what I know from back home!! The gumbo was great, I got the chicken and sausage, and the Pu Pu Platter. The platter was amazing with fresh tasting veggies and a thin but crispy batter. I'd say the fried green tomatoes made my top 3 list of fried green tomatoes and i'm actually obsessed w/ fried green tomatoes. GOOD STUFF, nice atmosphere, felt like i was home.

This was my second time coming here. First time I had a fried shrimp po-boy and this time I had the fried green tomato po-boy. It's always been delicious. My dad and his girlfriend both had the crawfish etouffee and weren't huge fans of it. They said there wasn't a lot of crawfish in it. I tried it and it tasted delicious. I would come back!

This was an amazing experience! The service was perfect and the food was phenomenal! I thoroughly enjoyed everything I ordered. The beignets were the best Ive ever had. The best part was the prices of the food. Everything was priced reasonably and was incredibly worth every penny. Highly recommend!

Maybe it was my expectation that made this experience less enjoyable, but for me when I make a reservation for a place I expect a better experience. We were definitely overdressed for that turned out to be a diner style meal. The restaurant was dark with booths that were tattered. Space could definitely use an upgrade. Food was just OK... Boudin balls were too spicy with no real seasoning. Catfish and shrimp were not seasoned well. The one bright spot was the remoulade sauce which had a good taste. Ask the Peach Bellini speciality cocktail was pretty good. I wouldn't recommend this place for a nicer dinner, but it could be a good option for a pop in lunch or quick dinner.

This is one of the most authentic tasting cajun restaurants I've seen outside of Louisiana. The crawfish etouffee and beignets were amazing! Definitely would go again when in the area,

Super lunch spot - quick and tasty. We had bowl of chicken gumbo and fried catfish. Catfish was good but we both liked the gumbo better.

So, I will say at the time of night that we went, a reservation wasn’t needed, but I could see if it was dinner time, how it would be necessary as there aren’t a whole lot of tables and it could fill up quickly. Food was outstanding!! Would definitely go back again

Wonderful Service. The restaurant was very busy, but they had our table for 6 ready right when we arrived! When I saw how packed the restaurant was, I did not have much hope of having a table since the place is somewhat small. But, the awesome bartender took us right to our table. Our server was very personable, quick and brought our food out fresh and hot! Will definitely go again!

I went to test the gumbos for possible catering need. If one is to name a restaurant after a food, it better provide that food exactly super! This place, not quite. The gumbo has no viscosity , no okra, too much pepper, fair sausage, ridiculously tiny inclusion of rice in small sticky sheets on the bottom of the bowl. The sausage one much better than chicken which was pepper hot but bland. A few shrimp, nil fish. Upon entering the place, no aroma at all was telltale that the gumbo would not fly. It’s a nice brown soup, but not gumbo. So, rename it “Soup Bros” and I’m good with that!
