Excellent service especially since we had a show to get to they were very accomodating and made sure to help us order food that would arrive quickly and still taste great!

I’ve dined at the Grounds on numerous occasions. However, over the past few occasions the quality of the meals as proffered have not been consistent. Given that the Grounds has a set menu which it is renowned for, you would have thought consistency was important. On each visit I usually enjoy a steak and have noted the choice of cuts to include hard gristle, being very tough (which may have been the way the meat had been cut initially at the butchers) even when cooked to my preference, which shouldn’t be the case. During this visit I raised a point to the serving and placement of the rather delicious strawberry cake on a paper Doyle which easily breaks up and can be consumed by the customer, to the surprise of the staff.

food was great - however those tiny little pots for the bearnaise sauce need to be replaced with something with a wider top - very frustrating

This is a beautiful restaurant and the service is very good. However, our food was served so quickly it was obvious they wanted us out of there ASAP. My friend and I ordered the pasta, it was cold. We sent it back and they gave us a new dish which was hot, but grew cold very quickly. It was ok. I travelled up from Kiama on the train and, needless to say, I needed the loo when I arrived. They don't have one - it's a walk through the shopping centre, down the stairs, through the food court, then turn left and head for JB Hi Fi. Not great. I have been here before, for dinner and for morning tea and not been disappointed at all. I will give lunch a miss in the future.

Had a Monkey Business cocktail that was fantastic. I also had the Streak Baguette which sensational. Would recommend The Grounds of the City. Will go back for sure.

The venue is lovely and service was wonderful the only downside is how loud it can be and our food was slightly cold when delivered to our table other than that would recommend

Visited The Grounds of the City several times already. Art deco theme is fabulous and its such a pleasure to stop there just for a moment, let along stay there for a meal. My preference is usually breakfast/ brunch over lunch/ dinner as I find afternoon food rather plain/ average. Sweets selection is great and cakes are to die for, same with cocktails. My suggestion would be to improve a bit on customer service and potentially acoustic as its very noisy there, downside is luck of restroom on the spot, but I understand limited space. In summary I like the spot, will be back for sure.

It was my daughter’s 1st time to The Grounds of the City and she loved it. She was very impressed with the decor and loved how the oysters were served. We had a lovely Mother & Daughter lunch.

Our 3rd visit and again we were not disappointed. Our party of 5 all enjoyed our meals and this time we also had dessert and it was delicious! The soufflé was to die for.

Well, overall it was very good until the dessert. I asked for a pot of english breakfast tea with milk. The waiter said they had no pots. He asked if i wanted tea in a takeaway cup i then asked if it could be put in a cup or mug. He replied that it could t - they did t have any? It was a bizarre story that even my lunch colleagues could t understand as we watched them serve coffee in cups and saucers. Could someone please explain ?

The city venue isn’t a patch on Alexandria, nor was the menu or the food. We presented a 500gm ribeye and got a sirloin that was full of gristle. Sides were just ok and not plentiful for the price. We took a visitor to Sydney for brunch and it just didn’t deliver to the level the prices and the Alexandria venue quality promised :(

The mezza was below average, kids pasta great, steak baggette ok! The toilets were not in the restaurant which you have to walk to, which is not convenient. I would not be coming back. On the bright side our British waiter was fantastic

Absolutely terrible. Worst experience for someone dining alone I think I’ve ever had. I booked a standard table reservation, then was squeezed in the corner of the bar, which on its own is fine. Shortly after another single person was seated beside me. Even though there was enough space for us to have a space between us - three spaces on the bar, two people. You can do the math. It was cramped, uncomfortable and I didn’t get my water for the majority of the meal. Food was mediocre. Will not return. Do better.

Overall it wasn’t a bad venue. The food was lovely, and the service was good. But when it came time to pay the bill we were unable to pay for our own items, the bill was split 50/50, which meant I paid for more than what I had ordered. If we were able to split the bill appropriately I’d give a better star rating.

Coffees were unfortunately not hot enough, and not very good, when compared to other cafes, which surprised us all. Otherwise, food was good enough, but doesn’t make me want to order them again. We ordered buttermilk pancakes, English muffin and egg, and the sesame and honey halloumi bowl. Ambience is great though. Was really wanting and hoping to enjoy the dishes.

We needed a reasonably quick dinner before a show and this was perfect! We had a booking, the staff were lovely, helpful and efficient. We are still talking about the food! Absolutely delicious and cannot wait to go back next time we visit Sydney CBD.

出張でシドニーを訪れ、職場の同僚と2人で伺いました。お店の雰囲気もよく、店員の方も親切でした。お料理のポーションも多過ぎず、少な過ぎずちょうとわよかったです。

Didn't think the food was the standard I've come to expect from previous visits. Burrata and prosciutto salad with poached chicken - not very special There wasn't a great selection of salads or gluten free options this time And I wasn't keen on the bathrooms being a long way away downstairs and in the public area of the shopping centre. Not great for people with mobility issues.
