The Grounds of the City, the second outpost from the team behind The Grounds of Alexandria, is bringing soul back to the CBD with old-school service and charm. Located in the heart of the CBD and bustling with activity, The Grounds of the City is tailor-made for a marvellous time; no matter the occasion. Start your day right as our baristas expertly serve up The Grounds house-roasted espresso and filter coffees, or end it in the best possible way and cosy in with our selection of cocktails and a dinner menu that features something for everyone. You’ll find our coffee sommelier at The Barista’s Bar ready to take you through a tailored coffee experience, and our tea lady roaming the room with a trolley adorned with fresh coffee, our selection of ethically sourced teas and cakes.

    Great ambience, terrific food, and helpful and friendly staff. All up, it was a great way to start a night in the city, and I can highly recommend it.

    This was my first time here. I took some overseas friends. Generally we were impressed with the ambience, although with the door opening and closing often it was quite chilly. The food was good, and we all enjoyed our meals. My guests enjoyed their coffees, however I was served a very cold Macchiato - twice! Eventually one of the wait staff came took over and brought me an extremely hot cup of Macchiato. There is never a good excuse for serving a cold coffee, but I'm glad the matter was eventually sorted and my friends and I enjoyed our catch up. Thanks

    nice place for a quick meal. Enjoyed the ambiance but preferred main was not available. Wine selection is limited and expensive

    Great decor, service, food and ambience. We had breakfast there on Tuesday at 8.30am and unfortunately it was quite chilly in the restaurant

    I think over long weekend, the service declines in general. This happens to another coffee shop which I am a regular as well. They used to have some great wait staff who literally recognised me and came over just yo say hello, which I didn't expect from coffee shops, even though I go there often.

    Really disappointed in the Grounds of the City. Busy, staff couldn’t hear or understand us. It was hard to talk. Menu had little choice and was overly expensive. Only thing I could say was nice was cake and coffee. Not even a toilet in the venue. We were told to leave the venue and head up to level 1 in the shopping centre. Such a shame given the Grounds of Alexandria is so nice. Wouldn’t waste your time or money going here.
