NOTE: At The Cafe, to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to dine in, we operate on a walk-in only basis for smaller tables during peak hours. If no tables are available on arrival, we will add you to an electronic waiting list and text you when your table is ready, leaving you free to explore the rest of The Grounds. Rest assured, all groups on the wait list will be able to dine-in on the day.

Our party of five enjoyed our visit immensely. Food and service were excellent. Ambiance is lovely. A little noisy but to be expected in such a popular venue. Will definitely be back. Highly recommend The Ground in Alexandria.

Sad to say, I might too much have much expectation about this place as I was so recommended by many of my friends that you should go. My wife and I went there Sunday afternoon midst of drizzling. the cafe was very crowded. As we had reserved our table in advance, we were ushered to the table in 5 mins. The inside was energetic and noisy like inside of waiting space of a ride in a theme park. I stared feeling stressed in the first 5 mins because I could not hear my wife’s taking because of the noice level. All the voices there and the background music were uncomfortably mixed with echoing over the cafe. I was ignored a couple of the waitresses passing by though I waived my hand to stop them to order our food. It was probably by their system making their things practical and easy but I did not like that way as a way of customer service. The food was comparatively good. It would be depending on what you expect but my expectation for the cafe was a kind of coziness. We first had planed to order a drink after our food, but I did not want it eventually. I felt very awkwardly because we did not know how it would be paid so it would have better to articulate how it had been informed more clearly.

We were a bit early and were seated before our booked time. We were sitting right next to the barista bar so the coffee smell was strong and it was quite noisy from the crowd but it was ok noise wise. We liked the food, both mains were good (burger and kids' pasta) and we both loved the cakes we chose as well (lemon meringue and pina colada taco).

I was celebrating my 50th Birthday, with my hubby, sister and dad. I’ve been here before and I’ll be visiting again, hopefully sooner than later. The food is amazing and definitely worth it. Staff are friendly with their customers and efficient with their time. Not to mention the scenery is beautiful. I always talk about this place to my friends. Thank you, Julia.

Beautiful location with great concept stands. Overcrowded with staff who appeared hurried and stressed but did their best. We were told the mocktail was unavailable only to see it brought out much later to surrounding tables (in a different serving glass, which we were told was not possible). The food was average from the specials selection with competing ingongruent flavour profiles in several dishes. Desserts which we bought to take home were amazing. Music in the grounds cafe was much too loud and incompatible with the setting. Heavy bass beats with strong vocals added to the stressed and overcrowded atmosphere, so much so that we had needed to ask to be re-seated to a nearby table being vacated as we couldn't have stayed for our booking in the rear right corner with the noise levels as they were.

The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, the food was good, and the decorations were unbelievably good - the best I've ever come across in a restaurant/cafe setting. Thank you, and please keep doing what you're doing - I really, really enjoyed it!

Made a reservation and still had to wait. 3 maids were served and we were left waiting for the 4th which was the breakfast taco special and not worth the wait. There were barely any screamed eggs on them and they were not evenly distributed. Waitress bought the eftpos machine to the table for us to pay and it kept failing over and over, which is never a pleasant experience it actually needed to be plugged in to work. Overall, the cafe looked lovely but the experience was disappointing.

The breakfast served was of poor quality, eggs Benedict, the bread was soggy as if it had been in water . Really unpleasant. Egg was overcooked. Food was sloppy . Sadly l will not be returning.

Our reservation seemed unnecessary when we were instructed to wait outside despite announcing it upon arrival. Led to a dimly lit corner, this seating choice hinted at an unwelcome atmosphere. However, initial impressions of service were positive; water was promptly offered and the waiter was helpful with meal suggestions. Our coffees, arriving quickly, were the highlight—worthy of a five-star rating on their own.Unfortunately, the main meals did not meet our expectations. Identifying as food enthusiasts, we found the dishes bland and disappointing. My burger resembled a "wet sponge," releasing water upon touch, although the polenta chips were a delightful exception. Both of us left our meals unfinished, an uncommon occurrence for us. An attempt to order an almond croissant was met with a long wait and eventual neglect, prompting our decision to leave.Attempting to pay, we encountered further disorganization; redirected from the front counter to our table, we experienced a lack of professional conduct that marred the conclusion of our dining experience. This visit to The Grounds of Alexandria was a mix of exceptional coffee and helpful service overshadowed by culinary disappointments and operational mishaps.

Love the food and environment, just felt abit rushed when we were eating as was asked once if we were finished when we had only gotten our food 25mins prior. Understand it was a busy place and people waiting for tables. Cafe was really loud and full.

Great food, good service, Only negative was there is no lactose free milk (only milk alternatives available like almond) We are finding this quite common in NSW.

Beautifully decorated, grounds were amazing to visit and the bakery selection looked fantastic but the poor service really ruined the experience. Booked for a meal with my partner, was sat between two full tables of 5 people absolutely no space and might have explained why we were overlooked for service. Waited over 20 minutes for service, no water upon arrival alike other tables who came after us. Attempted numerous times to obtain attention from staff but genuinely believe due to our positioning between two full already serviced tables we were overlooked. I understand the place is so popular, so we were happy to wait and expect some delays in service but this was ridiculous to the point we debated leaving all together. Wouldn’t recommend in terms of visiting for food/drinks, would recommend going to see the decorations and try luck with outdoor bbq area which was self order might have better experience.

Such a good location, but service is lacking. 4 of us at a table and asked after the third person had given their order if ‘that was it’ completely forgetting there was a 4th person to order. Unable to make alternative changes to orders due to pregnancy diet. And fire alarm going off for >10mins which was a disappointment (there was no fire!)

Amazing place! We are so glad we came to visit before heading off to the airport. It’s a great time buffer if your either heading to the airport or waiting to check into accomodation as it’s fairly close to the airport, train stations and bus stops. Will 100% return. Great service also, very helpful staff. Try the cakes!

We weren’t allowed to swap out the eggs on the fritters for scrambled even though the lady ordering was pregnant and couldn’t have runny yolk. They ran out of salmon to go with the eggs Benedict by 8am… and only offered bacon as a substitute but the person ordering was pescatarian. We still had 3/4 of our food on our plates and the waiter asked if she could give us the bill. We said no as we hadn’t finished eating yet. It was pretty awkward and made us feel unwelcome. My eggs were watery and the cafe was so loud we couldn’t hear each other talk. I won’t be going there again.
