The Gravel Pit Brasserie & Bar is situated in The Waterfront Hotel with mouthwatering views over the east lake to accompany our fantastic menu.

This site was once a large marsh, fed by the River Great Ouse, but in the 1950s gravel extraction created a series of small lakes and pools which survives today. The gravel was mainly used in road and industrial construction, but today the old gravel pits are home to an abundance of wildlife, flora and fauna; a magical place for all of us to enjoy.

Our restaurant is open 7 days a week, from 7am - 11pm, with last food orders at 9pm.

The restaurant setting was nice and the service was very good but the food was disappointing and expensive. The food wasn't hot and I don't even think the chicken was freshly cooked and rather just warmed up. We paid £131 for 2 people for starters and main and 1 bottle of wine and an automatic 12.5% service charge was added to the bill. I'd say it was like a pub meal not a brasserie and therefore it should have cost around half that in my opinion

Staying in the hotel we thought we would be lazy & eat in the restaurant. The 5 of us have different dietary requirements, and there was something for everyone, although it would be nice to have a couple more veggie options on the menu.

The venue was excellent the food was expensive and the choice was not great the service was very good but I am gluten free.

Food was very expensive for what it was. The waiter took half the dishes away while we were still eating The Procesco was flat They took quite a while to take our order. We went here first before going in to the spa

OK - so it was a very interesting venue - not simple to find if you were not on top of the sat nav and equally, the restaurant itself once on the complex (not just a noun her e but an adjective as well) was somewhat tucked away in the far corner of the vast golfing and wildlife centre. Not simple in the daytime let alone at night. Once we were there we went into the restaurant. It was not promising as it was quiet - very quiet. At that time it appeared that there were more staff than diners and right now you are wondering if we had made a mistake - rest assured (Gravel Pit management included) we had not. It was our anniversary and we were with friends. We took ages to decide what to eat because - despite lots of dietary restrictions - there was a lot to chose from in a relatively small menu. For the carnivores - which we are not - there was some lovely options. For the vegetarians / pescatarians - which we are (including vegans) the restaurant menu was full of choice. A good drinks selection - as you would expect from a golf club - and we were away. The restaurant itself is sort of round with lots of comfy chairs and banquettes. During the day I am guessing it looks out on the wetlands but at night outside is very dark - lovely in my book. The waiting staff were attentive, friendly and not too hovering. But you want to know about the food so - between us we had two vegan gyros (lovely flavour, texture and more than enough to fool most carnivores), fish and chips (lovely portions and according to Colin, really well cooked), and the Caponata Gnocchi (which my wife loved). We then had dessert - two ice creams (yes I know we are boring but Colin and I love ice cream) and our wives shared a Zesty Lemon Tart. All lovely - and at this point I would like to mention the star of the restaurant - the automated robot servers bringing the food from the kitchens to the servers. Kept us amused all evening. it was cold but that's ok - we put our fleeces on so nothing horrendous!

Our food was nice, the service was excellent, but I wasn’t too keen on the menu choice , just my personal choice I would have like to see some nice fish meals like salmon , sea bass, tuna steak as I’m not a big burger or pizza eater really .
