Santa Monica steakhouse serving up the classics since 1949. Our menu features the highest quality steaks, our famous prime rib, pastas, and more in a warm, friendly, intimate atmosphere. Guests can enjoy dinner and finely crafted cocktails at our bar, fireplace lounge or dining room. The historic restaurant also features an outstanding wine program. Happy hour is also available all over the restaurant.

We went for Mothers Day but they didn’t really have a special menu (although they advertised it) or do anything unique for the day (no flowers etc). Overall, our food was mediocre and although I specifically asked for no mushrooms with my dish- of course they got it wrong and it actually seemed to have extra mushrooms. My daughter had a cheeseburger which seemed like a safe bet for a steakhouse but it was also not very good (she left it half eaten). And my wife had the huevis rancheros and all I can say is that her stomach was hurting by the time we went home. I used to go the old Golden Bull for steaks and roast beef and thought the patio they built during the pandemic would be fun for Mothers Day; boy was I was wrong. (PS It was half filled at best and that should have been a tip off)

I like the Golden Bull. It's a throwback to the 60's steakhouse that's a half block from the Pacific. The menu is mostly classic steakhouse fare. Our server was delightful. She bubbled with personality, was attentive, and kept the evening moving at an enjoyable pace. My martini was crisp, clean, and more than generous. The caesar salad was one of the best I've had. My son and I split the Tomahawk Steak. I like my steak a little more done that he does so our server brought it to the table medium rare then took my slices back to the kitchen for a bit more finishing. It was delicious. Fries were firm and crisp. The creamed spinach wasn't quite as creamy as I expected but it was good... and probably healthier that way. All in all a really enjoyable evening.

We love it and it’s usually very consistently pleasing. There were little kids running around screaming which was a little off putting. But our waitress was terrific and the food and timing were both great.

From the moment I step through the front door, greeted by Manager Brian, to the drink waiting for me by Master of Ceremonies Baker to my all-time favorite servers Kelly and Kelly, my Golden Bull experience is nothing less than the best. If you like old school steakhouses where they still no how to treat guests and your night can range from the superior dining experience to the crazy fun weekend night, the Bull cannot be beat.

Early bird dining was great, roast beef was excellent and I always love the Ceaser salads! They have both indoor and outdoor dining. Their burgers are always great along with their onion rings which are terrific❤️

This is the second time visiting this restaurant. It did not disappoint. The first time we were seated outdoors and it was a bit chilly. This time we sat indoors and it was so much better. The menu is extensive with lots of good choices. We shared the prime rib with sides. It was delicious. There are not too many places around that still serve prime rib. We opted for dessert this time. We had the smores casserole. Very good. We will return again to this fine establishment

The bone-in prime NY strip perfectly seasoned with rosemary and thyme was delectable! We had the delicious potato skins and carnitas taco from the happy hour menu which was incredibly tasty as well. The onion rings were good but thin and crispy. Our server was outstanding and so patient with my rambunctious child. Super chill patio atmosphere. Oh and delicious creamed spinach too. You could taste the spinach and not too much cream or nutmeg like other places. Great place and we will definitely be back next time we are in Santa Monica.

This place is a real favorite, thanks to wonderful food, creative drinks, and perhaps the nicest staff in town. All this, plus it's right next to the beach! The historical significance of the place is an added bonus; look it up!

The Golden Bull is a classic! I’ve been gong for about 30 years now. I am so happy that when Donald retired it continued on. The food is fresh and served as ordered. Everything from the cheese steak to the filet mignon with side of bearnaise sauce s delicious. Salads and lobster rolls top notch as are the fries. Cocktails are always very well made and delivered promptly. Service from host to server to bartender and kitchen staff is attentive. The manager was song a great job walking the rooms and outside. We are neighbors to the Bull and it was my birthday, Jake made sure to get us a booth and again the excellent staff made sure both deserts had candles!! Thank you for another great meal with family!

They had a great selection of food that was all prepared to specifications. While it is a little on the pricy side, it is really worth every penny so if you can take the plunge don't let that cause you any hesitation. All of the food was very tasty and the restaurant itself was very comfortable. I look forward to when I'll be able to visit again next time!

They took my beloved NY strip steak off the menu and subbed it with a BONE-IN NY steak which was a zero. Way less meat, flat, dry…no! Our waiter didn’t mention that the steak I was ordering was a flat bone-in type so I was surprised + disappointed when it was delivered to me. Obviously the restaurant is trying to make more money from the customer (me), by offering a cheaper cut of meat. This was my family’s go-to place…not anymore

I've been going to Golden Bull for years. It used to be old school, kind of a rundown but cozy with amazing food. Since renovations, it's elegant, still comfortable and still absolutely amazing food. The wait staff is fabulous and the food is just amazing. It's a little pricey, but I think it's worth it. If it's chilly out, ask for a booth inside. Otherwise they transformed their parking old parking lot into a wonderful patio. Easy parking with valet but it'll cost you $15.

We loved everything about our visit - the steak was cooked perfectly, sides were delicious (including the award-winning onion rings), and the ambiance of an old world LA steakhouse with great music and furnishings. All of the staff was excellent and friendly to us too. I definitely will return regularly!

We love the golden bull for several decades, but the only problem for us was the discomfort of the booth we were sitting in. There really was no way to get comfortable as the cushions beneath us were very worn, and the back of the booth was shared with another table, and if they moved, I would feel it throughout the meal, so other than the discomfort, it was a pleasant evening.

One of the best steakhouses in LA! I love the ambiance and service. Never fails to impress!! Will definitely be coming back here! They also have great non-meat options and their crispy “chicken” sandwich is fantastic.

Marguerita's were a bit watery - steaks fantastic, as well as service. It was a cold and rainy night in LA and the warmth of the fireplace in the bar and the booth were soooo cozy.

The main dining room is now configured in a very strange cold way. The fireplace room is lovely but not the main room. Our server, Allie, was lovely, the salads were delicious and the host kindly comped our entrees as the two slices of prime rib that were put on hold for us were absconded by the bartender who knew how to override the system to get them for his customers at the bar. It was a strange evening at an old haunt that I've been going to since the late 70s. New ownership several years back has transformed this Santa Monica gem into a more "current" spot! Thanks again for the comped entrees but, honestly, we had our hearts set on the prime rib!
