Welcome to The Garden at Kimpton Charlotte Square, located in the West End of Edinburgh City Centre.

The Garden is the hotel's central gathering point, and a tranquil oasis in the hustle and bustle of the city. Join us for a meeting with colleagues or a coffee with friends amid the greenery.

Searching for a dreamy ‘WFH’ destination? The Garden is the perfect retreat, where peace and productivity come together in perfect harmony. Feel a sense of calm as you lose yourself among the greenery with natural light and comfortable seating. Our Wi-Fi is free of charge, and you can tuck into a selection of pastries, from 9am-2pm every day. There's no need to book, just pop by whenever takes your fancy.

Unwind in our hidden gem every Saturday and Sunday, where weekends are all about about eggs royale, brioche French toast, strawberry and cream waffles, lots more brunch classics and good vibes. Brunch is available from 11am, with last sitting at 1.30pm.

Here for weekend brunch. On a cold, grey, wet day, it was a really nice, bright inviting environment. Service was good. Eggs Royale, French toast and Bloody Mary were tasty. Waffles however were really poor value, £10.50 for one waffle (not freshly made), 4 or 5 berries and a bit of creme fraiche, felt like a rip off.

Service was slow and we were the only table in there. Food was cold and serving were very small for the cost. Food was sent back and tool so long to come out everyone had finishes their meal. Pretty poor considering we were the only people they had to serve.

I dined here for lunch and I believe it is very different for a dinner experience. It was operating more like a bistro at lunch time. The menu choice was very limited and a bit underwhelming. I opted for the club sandwich and truffle fries which was tasty. It is a nice location and almost £20 for a club sandwich and fries just reflects you are eating in a hotel. I think you would need to have dinner in the evening before you can pass judgement on the overall food offering.

I have been in The Garden several times before. It’s a great space. Years ago I drank in The Consort Bar every Friday night. A bit like going home! We were given a warm welcome,a nice table and although the staff were rather busy we were not neglected! The food was fab and a reasonable bottle of rosé wine and then chocolates at the end made it all feel like a special occasion. It was! It was my 76th birthday. I can’t write short! Sorry.

We went for mine and my twin sisters birthday. Unfortunately everything that could do wrong did. We ordered and breakfast/brunch, it was over 50 minutes before it came (we chased a lot to see where it was as well). Once it came all the food was cold, the eggs were solid and just generally everything was badly cooked. We were told it was a new chef, we sent my food back and had to wait a further 30 mins for a new dish to come by which time everyone else at our table had finished their food. The new dish was much better once it came but it was just eggs Benedict! We were so disappointed, the staff did make it right and compensated us but it really ruined the day as we hate to complain.

Club sandwich was in fact an egg sandwich with odd bit of chicken, bacon etc. So much egg!! Sis taken 50% of this item. Also don’t take cash and waitress unhelpful about this. Won’t be back.

The food and light, airy space were great. However it took well over half an hour for our soup to arrive and to have the whole lunch - a starter and a cold sharing platter took 2 hours in total! When someone in our party explained that we were waiting for soup we were told that they were short staffed. I completely understand that there are staffing difficulties in the industry but we could have been told to expect a wait when we arrived. Then to have another member of staff arrive and explain unprompted that while the garden was quiet the main restaurant was fully booked which had been a surprise to them even though it was was Mother’s Day. I appreciate that they were busy but all we required was some warning or an apology. Staff were fairly attentive overall but I won’t be rushing back.

The decor and aesthetic of the garden is lovely with the plants and conservatory feel. Service was friendly but very slow for a salad. Also salad very expensive for what you got definitely wasn’t 5* quality.

Would have been so much better if the plants were real and truly lived up to the name!!! Menu could have had a few more options too. Fine if you’re looking for a tasty sandwich or salad. But overall, great place. The service was excellent, the staff were very polite and attentive.

Although having booked lunch in the Garden Room, on arrival found it deserted. Staff in the area did not seem to want to make eye contact and after wandering around asked for advice. Was taken by a friendly member of staff to what I would describe as the outer edges of Baba Restaurant where it was explained that the Garden Room is currently closed for refurbishment. Why the hotel did not have a notice at the entrance explaining this is very bad customer service. The lunch menu is quite short, not a bad thing, and was enjoyed. Staff were attentive and very pleasant.

Friendly professional staff, nothing was too much trouble. Prompt service. Pleasant surroundings and tables were not so close together that you could hear other conversations!

Went there with my 2 daughters to celebrate one’s Birthday. The cocktail waiter was great at meeting my daughter & making her a special cocktail. We also enjoyed a bottle of Prosecco. Food was good but nothing to rave about. The cauliflower fritters were the best. Great decor & friendly staff.

Great place to visit Location for this hotel was perfect. Very close to City centre, It was a very clean environment and the service was spectacular. I especially want to give a shout out to Faris He was fabulous he arranged my transport from the hotel to the airport, answered lots of questions about areas to go to. always called me by my first name and was very very accommodating! Give that gentleman a promotion he definitely made me feel like I was staying with family and friends treating me special and not like a stranger. Thank for your hospitality

We love the Kimpton and the dining, but felt the BBQ chicken portion we ordered was very small for a main. Service was slow and this wouldn’t normally matter but we had warned staff we had a train to catch, so as a result our lunch was very rushed. Of course we will be back, but wanted to let you know.

Magnificent experience The beautifully and a great space is inviting with attention to every detail. with clean and defined decor. The warmth comes from the staff who have clearly taken their cue from the managers. We loved the food and atmosphere so much, we came back the next day for brunch. And we loved it, The Garden restaurant will always be on our list of restaurants to visit again.

I was disappointed on my most recent visit. Food delicious but service was terrible. There were plenty staff and restaurant was not busy so I don’t understand why the service was bad. It’s put me off going back for a while.

The setting was lovely however it was quite cold. Service was really slow considering there was only 2 other tables in and staff weren’t attentive. The food was good and good value.

Delicious food and drinks, good service, gorgeous surroundings, it’s a shame that the restaurant was closing at 3pm but hopefully that will change soon. Going back in a few weeks and already looking forward to it. Note that a service charge is added.

I was deeply impressed by the scene of the restaurant and the patience of the waitress. However, the food was not delicious enough (especially for the sorbet, it seemed to be melting). It was overall a nice experience, but may be a little bit disappointing.

Food was ok, though on the small side but service wasn’t great. Was sitting for about 15 mins before someone took our food and drinks order together . Would expect drinks order straight away. Then had to wait another 10 mins for drinks and water. Food arrived then sat with dirty plates in front of us for about 20 mins before we asked for dessert menu. Getting attention to get the bill (with 10% service added) was also a challenge. On the plus side they were great with our dog and gave her some leftover sausages on the house, but we won’t be back.
