"The world drinks tea. Come have some with us today!" The English Tea Room and Eatery is one of the shops you don't expect to find on the short but interesting Lee Lane in Covington's walkable city core. The shop offers more than 260 choices of teas and serves fresh-baked scones with house-made clotted cream and house-made lemon curd along with all-day high tea [finger sandwiches, savories & chocolate covered strawberries] and many other English food items such as banger & mash, Coronation Chicken Salad, Scotch eggs, quiches, Shepherd's Pie, etc.

We are located on the corner of Rutland St. and N. Florida St. is just a block from the antique stores on Lee Lane and one block from the art galleries on Columbia. Off-street parking is available, wheelchair Lift and ample free parking on Florida St. and Rutland St and nearby Free Public Parking [Ox lot].

Celebrated Mother’s Day with my daughter as she was out of town on Mother’s Day. It was the perfect place for a Mother’s Day luncheon. Have been there many times before. Always a great experience. Teas are great. Over 200 to choose from. We try a different flavor each time we go. Food is always good. Friendly atmosphere. Every room looks like a room from an English home. Food is moderately priced. Both American and English dishes on the menu. It is an old house that was renovated into a restaurant. Each room has a different name associated with the Royal family. Have children’s teas as well. Have hats and boas to dress up. Great place for a special event. But plan ahead or make reservations.

The English Tearoom is charming and memorable. My mom and I have eaten here twice for Mother’s Day, and we are always impressed! The food is delicious, as well as the tea. There is something for everyone. The owners have come to us and shared their sweet story, and the waiters are so very sweet, attentive, and knowledgeable. They are always willing to help, too! The area is also a great place to walk around and antique shop, if you are into that. We will be going back again next year (or sooner if we can)!

Our server was fantastic! We asked for recommendations on the teas and she was spot in with what we were wanting every time. We sat in the Sancuary sunroom and it was quiet and out of the which is what we wanted. However it was such a lovely day we may book the outdoor garden if returning. The only downside is that we really could've used an extra 30 mins. Other than that, everything was perfect. Would highly recommend!

Nothing that you eat at this place is homemade. The desserts come straight out of a box. We got a prince william high tea a cheese board and a bangers and mash. Let’s start with the cheese tray… grocery store Gouda and grocery store cheddar presented horribly on a board with pepper jelly and stale crackers. The high tea…. They use the thickest bread that was also very stale. Sandwiches were not great. Desserts were purchased and definitely not homemade. The savories were fried Mac and cheese bites one tiny pig in a blanket quiche that was still half frozen and a spinach pie from the box. Bangers and mash were definitely not authentic. We used to love this place but I definitely will not be back. Tea pots are dirty on the inside. Cups have lipstick stains on them from not being washed properly. Definitely not worth the money or the wait.

This is a must visit for anyone! I'd call ahead though to book because I made a reservation through OpenTable and apparently I was put on a wait list and didn't have an actual reservation. The tea room accommodated our party anyway because they were able to but we were not the only ones that had happened to while we were there. Also, our reservation was for 9:30am and the tea room doesn't open until 10 am.

You are so kind to write this lovely review for us! It is our goal to provide excellent customer service with delicious food and the best teas available on the planet. It's good advice you gave to make that reservation - especially at busy times and days. Saturdays book up 3-4 weeks in advance and most lunch sessions are full. Weekdays are less busy after 2pm.

We love the English Tea Room! We frequent about once a month and are never disappointed. It’s consistently good and the wait staff are exceptional.
