Empress by Boon is San Francisco’s newest, must-visit epicurean destination, offering a seasonal menu in modern Cantonese gastronomy. Michelin-starred Chef Ho Chee Boon applies traditional techniques to fresh, local ingredients to produce distinctive contemporary dishes infused with Cantonese flavors.

The spacious restaurant occupies the former location of Chinatown’s celebrated Empress of China with striking city views. Reimagined by Chef Boon and team, the Empress was brought back to its former glory by embracing modern design elements while incorporating restored original features, creating a welcoming atmosphere that pays homage to the history of the beloved location.

                    Great service experience and good food overall, nice view of the city as well. Decent price for the quality of the prefix menu.

                    A very unique experience and everything on the tasting menu was either great or excellent. Pro tip: get the supplemental duck. The wine pairings were also nice ($68). Views were spectacular and the ambience and service was A+ You walk out feeling really satisfied but not painfully full. Definitely a hidden gem

                    Every single bite of the tasting was amazing. And not too much food, like some tastings. Save room for dessert!

                    Excellent dining experience as always. Only issue was our reservation didn’t mention we were in the back room with no view, as opposed to the main dining room with the incredible sunset view. Probably would have booked elsewhere had I known. Next time will call to see if it’s possible to get the room with the view.

                    The food was great. We ordered the Peking duck as extra. The Peking was ok and too salty for us. The set dinner is of great value and tasty. No need to order the Peking duck.

                    Delicious tasting menu, personally the food was a little rich for my liking and by the end of the meal I was feeling a little over stuffed, but I would go back again in the future.

                    The food on the day we went was good though not outstanding. Nice cozy atmosphere and really nice view, though the general ambiance was a little loud to my liking and not particularly intimate. I still think this is a good place for celebrating special occasions.

                    We enjoyed the wine pairing option and the duck. The server was great explaining the wines and they were paired nicely with each course. We also order the duck. O my, lovely! The skin was crisp and the meat melted in my mouth. The view of San Francisco was exceptional. So glad we went.

                    This was my second time eating at Empress and I was underwhelmed. Service was lacking and dishes weren’t as flavorful as they were last time I dined in June 2023.
