Elevated service with flair and discretion. The meals and drinks were well-executed with thoughtful, interesting ingredients. We heard of both anniversaries and engagements being celebrated here, and unsurprisingly so given the care and attention to detail.

The evening started with an exciting menu supported by charming approachable staff who provided helpful food and wine advice. We wished we had not split a pasta special entry as a starter because the house made pasta with asparagus, fiddle head ferns and puréed peas was too delicious to share. Our main course choices proved superb with very rare beef tenderloin and rare duck breast complimented by a lovely Barolo. The perfectly portioned very creative desserts, one a banana mousse containing a texture surprise of popcorn and the other a very satisfying dose of chocolate cremeux, topped off the meal. The perfect very professional service and comfortable ambiance made the evening unforgettable and a must repeat.

Our server was fantastic! The tasting menu we experienced was sub par to what we’ve had before at the Courtney room which was a little disappointing but overall a very good evening!

I read many reviews before booking this restaurant for my wife's birthday celebration with 2 friends. I very much like the room's ambience although it is very noisy. It has a beautiful view of the legislature but you have to request an appropriate table on the second floor. The food was, I am sorry to say, disappointing with small servings and certainly not up to a standard that one might expect. The online menu and wine list created a great expectation of choice which was certainly not reflected in what was provided. As an example, the wine list on the website was 47 pages long whereas the list provided at the Restaurant included perhaps 6 or 8 pages of wine. The staff were very pleasant. Our meals were very slow in coming to the table.

My husband and I had a lovely evening. The meal was fabulous and I always appreciate unique and extra touches such as the butter with one of the best focaccia breads I’ve had and the sweets to end the meal. Our server, Tyler, was patient, knowledgeable and attentive.

We absolutely loved our experience here! Our server (Johnny) and the Sommelier (Jack) were amazing and made it a night we will remember forever. The food was perfection and they came up with fantastic substitutions for my wife’s dairy allergy. The wine pairing was fantastic as well and everything was to die for! We will be back!

Excellent food but the waiter was run off his feet. He did give us good service when he got was able to get to us. It was a bit noisy with two parties on the main floor.

The chicken was over-brined so tasteless beyond salty ,and rubbery in texture. The deep fry made the "potato crust" unrecognizable as such. The potato sticks were mushy. The salad was bland. My partner's potato ricotta was also bland as was the crabmeat. Nothing special about these dishes. A big disappointment for our friend's 90th birthday lunch and nothing like what you used to offer. The cake and ice cream were very good. The server was excellent and found vanilla ice cream for the birthday guest who cannot eat coffee or chocolate.

Service makes this a wonderful experience. The food is inventive and generally good with perhaps a bit of polish needed. Descriptions on the menu are incomplete and easy to make you miss out on wonderful options.

Beautiful. Great Sommeliers, cuisine, service, location, and ambience. The tasting menu is awesome if you are open to have an ample variety of ingredients for an adventurous palate. Wine paring is a most for a full experience if you want to try the tasting menu. The place is either for casual fine dining to a special occasion. Breakfast and lunch are available. They look amazing in the publicity, but I haven't tried it yet.

As usual our experience was excellent. The service was personal and timely without being over the top. The food was fantastic. We ordered a variety of small plates to share and everything was as described, the shared plates were generous (enough to share) and the wine selection by the glass was sufficient to cater to different tastes.

Once again, TCR exceeded expectations. Its always a wonderful treat to get to eat at this establishment - whether its breaky, lunch, happy hour or dinner - the food is always interesting and tasty. This restaurant is highly recommended and a must-visit when I'm able to be in Victoria. The most recent dinner was the tasting menu, which I would say is not to be missed. A secret culinary adventure that strikes all the right notes and offers a wonderful sampling of Vancouver Island focused delicacies. The chef is not afraid to push the pallet, which makes a blind menu all the much more exciting! The wine list is incredible - and uniquely, offers a multitude of local Island and provincial vintages if staying regional is important. Or follow along with the somm's astutely paired offerings. In short, you can't go wrong with The Courtney Room! Love it

We visited the Courtney Room as a recommendation from a friend and were absolutely blown away. This was better than expectations and the food was phenomenal. Drink menu was top notch interesting as well. Thank you Johnny? I think his name was, for the wonderful recommendations.

We had the tasting menu and it was a fantastic time from when we walked in the door to when we walked out, including the service and the food. The food was delicious and really special. My sister is pregnant and they were very accommodating to make sure she had an amazing equivalent dish when the original dish had raw seafood or a more rare cook. The no alcohol bevies were so unique and delightful additions without imbibing. We have been talking about the meal this morning, the morning after, still reflecting on our favourite dishes and how nice it’d be to come back again. Thanks again for such a nice time.

Everything about our 52nd Anniversary dinner at The Courtney was perfect, except the noise level, which was too high and hard for us to converse comfortably. If others who are younger and have better ears than we seniors do, I highly recommend it. Meg Ryan

The food was awful. Great example of a trying really hard to be fancy without any substance. Has the chef ever tasted human food before? Also the portions were obnoxiously small. We both left hungry - The chicken wings I had from room service later that night were better than all the food we were served. What a joke LOL

Wait staff were excellent. Never intrusive but always close at hand. The only criticism we had was with the side dish of mushrooms we ordered. They were not at all what we expected. They had an overwhelming pickling flavour which did not compliment my steak fritte dinner. My wife and I split the dish and both had the same reaction. We let our waiter know our thoughts at the time and he did offer to have the order replaced. We declined as we were already half way through our meals. Special kudos for the lemon tart….although I would prefer a slice twice the size.
