Our Farm-to-Table Restaurant offers fresh food focused on local sourcing and home-made recipees. Our beef is raised in Holgate, OH and processed locally. The cheese on our boards is made from local, whole milk in Hicksville, OH. We use 100% California olive oil in our oil based dressings - it is not cut with canola/soy/vegetable oils. Our flatbreads come in at less than 30 carbs each. We are known for our cocktails, particularly our Old Fashioneds and our Seasonal Speicialty Drinks.
Our building was constructed in 1871, was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2019 and completely renovated to expose it's historic lines and features in 2021. We are within Defiance's DORA District and directly across from Triangle Park in Defiance's historic downtown. Step back in time, window shop the downtown and then come and dine. We offer carryout through a button on our website www.thedarkhorsesocialclub.net

    LOVE HOW THE OWNERS HAVE KEPT ALOT OF THE HISTORIC VIBE. VERY FRIENDLY AND THE OWNERS COME OUT TO TALK TO THEIR PATRONS.

    Delicious food and drinks. Our party of 8 celebrated 2 birthdays. We had a blast. The owners and staff all make you feel so welcome. Several of our group enjoyed the rubber ducky cocktails. 2 people had old fashioneds and said they were delicious. 4 of us had the prime rib. It was very tasty. It is not a quiet restaurant. But that is totally our vibe when our group is out

    I love everything I have ever eaten here! The atmosphere is very upscale and the food matches it exactly! Wish it were open for lunch!

    Love this restaurant! The food is outstanding and the best in Defiance! Ambiance is quaint, cool, and eclectic. Rebecca our waitress is always friendly and helpful.

    The DarkHorse was the perfect place a for lovely dinner with my parents. It was cozy and the music was fun. The St.Patrick theme drinks were very good and the meal was delicious. The desserts were fancy and satisfied our sweet tooth. If you want a relaxing evening out with great food and good service this is the place to go.

    My wife and I wanted to try this place for a while. We had a reservation for 7:30pm on a Saturday. When we arrived we were sat right away and it was next to a table of at least 10 people who were quite noisy. The cocktails were probably the best part of the experience. When the food arrived my scallops were overcooked and the baked potato came with only a small slice of butter and there was no salt or pepper on the table. Overall it was okay but for the price, I'm probably not recommending it to my friends.

    We had the most delightful time with our friends in a pleasant atmosphere with delicious food. We will be going back soon.

    Even on a busy night, everything was excellent from the food, cocktails, and service. Trish and Mark have done a wonderful job with this venue!
