There's plenty on offer throughout the week at The Cricketers Mill Green near Ingatestone in Essex.

Set within a beautiful rural environment but easily accessible.

Now serving lunch & dinner 5 days per week including an extended Sunday Lunch service.
Please Note While Booking With Us, Dogs are allowed in the bar area however that are not allowed in the restaurant.

Food is served in our restaurant with our new A La Carte menu which is served Wednesday to Saturday 12-3pm then 6-9pm or our new Bar menu Which is served all day Wednesday to Saturday 12-9pm excluding sandwiches in the evening.

We also have daily 'specials' so there is always something different.

We use locally sourced ingredients and all of our dishes are freshly prepared in our kitchen.

Went for Sunday lunch. The starter was delicious 😋 followed by roast beef , which was cooked beautifully. Will definitely be going there again. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff.

Lovely pub in a beautiful setting. Very busy on the Sunday of a bank holiday weekend, but we weren’t in any great hurry. Good choice of dishes, and everyone on the table enjoyed them. We’ll come again.

Service is superb. Great atmosphere. Sea Bass was incredible and my wife loved the Pork Rack. All in all a very very good dining experience.

Food was excellent however I found the staff to be quiet rude and we felt like we were being ignored, it got worse when we asked for the service charge to be removed don’t think I will go again

Table 8 at 2:30 Sunday afternoon We were told they had already run out of the roast chicken which was a shame, a order for drinks was taken and we were asked once more if we wanted any we were seated for 4 hours so this was a disappointment we sat with empty glasses on our table until our dessert came which then they decided it was a good time to clear them whilst we were eating. We were still not asked if anyone would like another drink. The service wasn’t the best the waitress seemed like she didn’t want to be doing her job, other than that a really cute pub and was dog friendly which was a massive bonus for us.

Really delicious supper at the Cricketers. We both had a lovely Thai prawn Curry which came with a very nice sauce and lots of vegetables. The waitress was charming and attentive and made us feel very welcome. The only shame was that the restaurant was not busier but it usually is when we go there.

This was our first time of visiting The Cricketers for many a year and we were very glad we chose to return. We had lunch from the a la carte menu and the food and service were first class. I had goats cheese bonbons for the starter, my wife had the the fig & cheese bruschetta, and we both had sea bass with crab cake, tenderstem brocolli & samphire for our mains. All absolutely delicious. Our desserts were equally as good. The staff were very friendly and attentive.

A very wet Mothering Sunday, first timers at this place, didn't help that a van had blocked entrance to pub car park so we parked in the forest opposite with a lovely mud path back to the pub. The entrance took as straight to the welcoming staff who confirmed our booking and took the 3 of us to our table. We had booked over a week before and just as well as people who hadn't booked were getting turned away as no room. They had a special menu for the day. We all went straight for the mains, my son and I having the Roast Beef with all the trimmings and my wife having Skate with the accompaniments. The service with excellent we were attended to in a very professional and discrete fashion and left to get on with our own discussion. The food was absolutely fabulous and my son who does not like roast potatoes ate the lot and said they were gorgeous. Generous portions of meat/fish and veg with our meals and very tasty to. We all opted for a desert but only my wife could finish hers as the rest off us were too full from the main meal. All in all it was a lovely afternoon spent in a very nice atmosphere. There was a 12.5% service charge added to the bill, not sure if this was because it was Mothers day or whether normal practice for the restaurant. Suffice to say more than happy to pay the service charge as the service and food were top notch.

Always receive a warm welcome in this stylish and cosy pub. Glad they have reintroduced a lunch menu so we can have a sandwich or small plates if we don’t want two courses. Sam is a star front of house.

As a Coeliac this place was a real struggle for me. There was really only one option for a main course - Risotto. There were no starters to choose from. However, they did make me some prawns in garlic, which were nice enough. So, although they tried to be accommodating, I didn’t enjoy my time here

Sad to say was very disappointed with Sunday lunch. We have eaten many times at the cricketers and the food is usually well presented and tasty. Unfortunately Sunday was not up to the usual standard. We were bought one wrong meal and therefore I was left sitting with my plate whilst my husbands was changed for the correct order. My meal had begun to get very cool but that I didn’t mind what I did mind was the chicken was over cooked and dry and hard also tasted very salty I presume this was the salt on the skin of the chicken. . Also three very small cut pieces of roast potatoes and definitely another potato was needed given their size. The Yorkshire was cold and dry. As I said we have eaten many many times at this venue and never had cause to complain. This Sunday however was really not nice.

The prawn starters and mains were very good, plenty of meat and vegetables but my treacle tart was hard as if it had been hanging around or old. The crumble was tasty though.

We have been to this pub twice now and the food is amazing. Dog friendly and great staff. We shall be returning before too long.

Had a fantastic meal outside in the middle of February after a lovely walk with the dogs. Very accommodating and the scotch egg was fantastic.

Went to the cricketers for a roast dinner at 4pm on a Sunday, food was great (really great) however by 4pm they had ran out of the pork and the crumble for dessert which was a shame. Need to remember to book earlier in future. Would highly recommend just make sure you book for around 2pm instead

Meat was undercooked wasn’t much of anything else Limited potatoes and veg And service charge added to bill as optional so when I paid just the meal amount they queried it and told me I have not paid enough, it stated optional But I did leave £5 as a tip I’ve had better don’t think I would recommend

We randomly drove passed this place on the way back from a disappointing meal elsewhere, a few weeks later we decided to give it a try. I'm glad we did. It was very quiet as it was early January. The service was excellent and the food was tremendous, although the choice was somewhat limited, I found a few options I wanted to try. Parking seems good and they have a selection of ales too. We will definitely come back.

It was a very cold day outside but the restaurant where we sat was very cold and my husband was in a draft the entire visit. The starter and dessert was fine but both main meals were only lukewarm and the lamb was very rare. Overall not a great experience

Amazing food, lovely ambiance and very attentive staff! I recommend booking a table as it was busy. We sat with our dogs in the bar by the fire which was lovely!

What a lovely night such a friendly atmosphere . The hosts were super and so efficient . Will definitely want to go there again for New Year’s Eve . Not too many people either . So cosy

We’ve been to the Cricketers many times before and always had a great experience. This time I felt slightly disappointed with my meal. It was very tasty and well presented but the portion size was on the small side particularly the veg (I had a solitary slice of carrot). The service was not up to their usual high standard but I will excuse that as they’re were incredibly busy.

Absolutely loved the pub ( serving Adnams), Sunday roast was SO tasty, fire burning but not in our direction. We were not warm and comfortable, there was a draft

Although they were hosting a fully booked steak tasting night in the main restaurant, they accommodated our birthday party of 7 + huge dog in the bar without any issues and without any detriment to the service or food quality. I received a courtesy call during the day to go over the reduced menu due to the event, and to check I was happy with what would be available . Service was attentive, efficient and good natured as usual. Love it here.
