There's plenty on offer throughout the week at The Cricketers Mill Green near Ingatestone in Essex.

Set within a beautiful rural environment but easily accessible.

Now serving lunch & dinner 5 days per week including an extended Sunday Lunch service.
Please Note While Booking With Us, Dogs are allowed in the bar area however that are not allowed in the restaurant.

Food is served in our restaurant with our new A La Carte menu which is served Wednesday to Saturday 12-3pm then 6-9pm or our new Bar menu Which is served all day Wednesday to Saturday 12-9pm excluding sandwiches in the evening.

We also have daily 'specials' so there is always something different.

We use locally sourced ingredients and all of our dishes are freshly prepared in our kitchen.

Unfortunately I had a very poor experience on my most recent visit. I had booked a table a week before, and upon arriving we were told they were too busy to take our order and unable to say when we could order. We then went to the pizza 'hut' at the back to order from there instead and were told the wait was 1 hours too. Disgruntled, we ordered anyway and waited 1hr 05 for our food. We were then completely forgotten about, no one came to clear our plates, ask us if we wanted another drink (we only had one from when we initially sat down) and nor did they give us the dessert menu. I went up to the bar to pay myself and leave. A very, very disappointing experience and no apology from the staff or manager. This was a booking, not a walk in, and you should have had adequate kitchen staff. I have worked in restaurants since I was 16, and I'd have had the common sense to apologise to a customer and perhaps offer them a drink or tea on the house to try to make up for the poor service. Small gestures go a long way to make customers happy and there's much to be learnt here. A very poor experience.

Having never been previously to The Cricketers we all had a very enjoyable meal excellent service and good value for money. Would recommend to friends to travel off the beaten track

Girls lunch date so we were a little rowdy but the staff were lovely and very accommodating - we all enjoyed our food, great value for money especially the set menu options 👍🏻

Bank holiday Monday at 2.00pm , lots missing off the menu . The food was very average pub grub . Having said that , have been here previously for a Sunday roast and it was great, so maybe just an off day .

Food was very nice Waiters are polite but could be more tentative Had to ask to order food, desert, drinks and clear table from starters and mains Nice to not be hassled I guess. Would come back though

Unfortunately this was a very bad experience from the moment we arrived. No apology for standing at the bar for some while when we arrived .No apology when returning uncooked chips. Ordered dessert menu and further wine but no one came back to us for about 20 minutes. We decided to not wait and paid at the bar. The guy said we are very short of staff and apologised and deducted the two drinks from our bill ,which was nice but the entire evening was wasted. Very disappointing as we had driven past a couple of times recently and decided to give it a try as it looked nice from the outside.

As regular customers of The cricketers, we were actually very disappointed and have all said we would not rush back any time soon. The service was not great and the food was shocking. The seafood platter couldn’t be further from an ‘Old Leigh Seafood plattter’. The crab sticks, crayfish and prawns were all cheaply brought and definitely not local from Leigh. We were very sad it’s not what it has been in the past.
