Fabulous food. Service terrible. Booked outside dining table could only give us a picnic table and then had to pay in full up front. 2 of 3 meals arrived one was delayed no explanation or apology (and was the same as one that did arrive!) Had to go to bar to order desserts, ignored for 10 minutes. Ordered 2 desserts and one coffee expressly asked for it all to come together.....it did not! Again no apology or explanation. Sadly, this is not the same pub rrstaurant it used to be.

What a top place in lovely surroundings. I was just looking for somewhere good to eat before heading to Saffron Hall and this pub hit the spot perfectly. There a warm welcome as I entered (from Andy I believe) and, as this was my first time there, that was just great. All the bar staff were really friendly as well, which makes such a difference. The roast beef lunch had quality ingredients all round, and especially the gravy. The portion was good, and just right for me, so I didn’t feel too full at all. Sat outside, it was such a pleasure to be there. Do visit!

What a great place. Can imagine grabbing a meal, a few pints and watch the cricket on the green outside. Fully recommend and the best fish and chips. Friendly, welcoming and lovely. Just what you need before getting a flight the next day. Michael

Fabulous food, service and overall experience, as always. Thank you! Thanks also for acknowledging my friend’s birthday by presenting her with her sticky toffee pudding complete with a lit candle and beautiful singing. She was suitably chuffed and nicely embarrassed all at once. We travel for approximately 1.5 hours each way from our respective homes to meet up at TCA and it never disappoints. Looking forward to the next visit in the summer.

We were held up due to an accident, therefore very late for our lunch booking . Table was held for us & kitchen produced a great fish & chips even though they should have finished . Excellent service , so grateful.

The food is good. The triple-cooked chips are crispy and melt-in-the-mouth delicious. Food is a little pricey, but it's a great place for an intimate meal.

Fantastic food and a lovely atmosphere at very good price. Made especially great by the barman / who was doubling up as our server, who had a great sense of humour.

Food was great, venue is lovely. Service could have been a little better. Greated very nicely when arrived and seated promptly. Sat with empty glasses after 1st drink and had to track someone down for refills. Not asked if we wanted any sauces with mains, plates were put down and waitress was off! Will definitely return as everything else was excellent

We had a wonderful dining experience, food was delicious and service exceptional. We were given complimentary drinks and starters as they were extremely busy and felt that we had waited too long for our starters. However, I’ve waited a lot longer in a number of restaurants and didn’t feel it was an issue. Will definitely be back and will recommend.

From the moment we arrived was fantastic. Andrew introduced himself to us and was really obliging. The waitress was really nice and efficient. My wife had steak i had fish and chips then to follow i had apple and rhubarb crumble and my wife had sticky toffee pudding. All cooked and presented perfectly. All washed down with a couple of bottles of Merlot. Mnmn

very welcoming host We were slightly late due to delays at Airport and owner/ manager kept kitchen open in order to fulfil our requirements. Very convenient place to stay/ eat close to Stansted Airport

Fabulous food as always, very busy for a Sunday lunchtime (victim of their own success), it did take a little while to arrange drinks - recommend that you order them in advance, overall an excellent experience and would highly recommend

Arriving early we were quickly seated at a table of our choice. Drinks soon arrived and food orders taken. All our selections were available and beautifully cooked and presented. The portion sizes were particularly generous. No desserts but well made Latte coffees rounded off an excellent meal. We have been before and intend to return again in the future.

The start was a little disappointing. Big piece of terrine and only one really tiny piece of toasted bread, so eating the majority of the terrine alone was a bit bland. The roast was lovely, amazing gravy and veggies. Potatoes OK, would have preferred the chicken to not be on the bone. Brilliant Yorkshire pudding though. We didn't stay for pudding. Quite pricey for a 2 course roast dinner. Otherwise a lovely atmosphere and good service. We had a nice time.

Simply fabulous. It’s sooo good I almost want to keep it a secret, but that would be too selfish. The Sunday Roast is by far the best in the area.

We are not local to The Cricketers Arms but met family there for Sunday lunch and were delighted. From the moment we were greeted at the door we were made to feel very welcome. Great service, food was outstanding and the atmosphere was amazing. It was lovely to be around the local community who clearly all have a special bond with everyone and the pub. I just wish we lived closer. Highly recommended 👌

Not much choice to be honest for a meal unless you like a burger I ordered the trout which was not cooked through and had to send it back and when it came back they must have just thrown it in a microwave as it was then too hot to touch the plate and over cooked I love this place but only for a Sunday roast dinner now won’t be going otherwise £90 for a meal that was below average in my opinion

The Sunday roast lunch at the cricketers arms is probably the best roast you will find in this area. I cannot find a fault with every element of the meal from the delicious succulent slices of sirloin beef to the wicked crispness of the roast potatoes! The vegetables were perfectly cooked and the Yorkshire pudding was a triumph! When you crave a great roast lunch this is the place to go to avoid disappointment!
