10 out of 10! My husband and I came for our anniversary dinner and we will definitely be back! The focus was Hungarian cuisine and everything we had was stellar. We also had yummy cocktails, the Turkish coffee cheesecake, and the Cuban eggroll and all were fantastic. The decor is interesting and fun. You really feel like you are having a "night out". I can't recommend this place enough.

Took my wife for an evening out: this is the kind of place she loves (I'd be happy with Steak & Shake). Consulate has a regular menu, plus a rotating menu (every 90 days) featuring dishes from a different country. On the restaurant's website it was listed as Paraguay. By the time we visited it had moved on to Hungary. My wife had the Hungarian Grouper Paprikash. I had KC steak with Hasselback potato. Both were well prepared. My wife enjoyed her meal. The steak was good--would have liked more of the herb butter. The potato would be improved if it had been served with a topping: parsley, butter, cheese--something. It was good, but could have been much more flavorful. Given its eclectic and frequently changing menu mastering so many dishes must be a challenge. I suspect (though only based on one meal so far) that Consulate's chefs tend to be jacks of all trades but masters of none. The Consulate is decorated like Applebees/Chillis, except for hipsters and wealthier folks. I found that amusing. I tend to think there is an inverse relationship between the sophistication of a restaurant's style/decor and the quality of its food (the old Alfredo's on Cheshire Bridge being my favorite example of modesty in the former and excellence in the latter). My favorite feature: validated parking in the deck behind the complex. Particularly in that part of Midtown not having to worry about where you're going to park is nice. The food is pricey, which anyone dining there would probably know ahead of time. There's also an 18% "service fee" that our server explained was instituted during Covid for reasons that are not entirely clear--and apparently never removed. So be prepared for your bill to be about 1/5th more expensive than you were expecting (before the tip). I'm sure my wife will insist on our going back, and I'll do so to make her happy. I'll also probably grab a burger somewhere before hand.

We are glad you enjoyed! Based on our 8 year track record our executive Chef Lin, masters each and every menu. Natives to the featured cuisine is who we listen to, and her record is flawless. Our decor is midcentury peppered with neo classical, and a notable art collection. The decor was intended for art and furniture aficionados to appreciate, the details may not be understood by many. The service fee was put in place because we wanted the staff be relaxed and sure their efforts would translate to a living. The Hasselback has sea salt, cracked pepper and ghee. Chef wanted the Potato to taste like a potato and not get drowned out. But you can request a sauce if you desire. We are here for the adventerous, and look forward to your return!

This was my boyfriends and I second time here and per usual it was FANTASTIC! I ordered pasta that had lobster and caviar and it was to die for. My fiancé ordered pork belly and crispy potato bites and he LOVED IT! To drink we weren’t sure since most of the menu is alcohol and we’re 20 currently, so the server made us some mocktails. They were delicious! Kind of tasted like gourmet agua de mango if you know what that is. The pistachio coffee cheesecake was so yummy. Same goes for the guava flan. Definitely will be back next anniversary!!!!

The food was excellent! There was such a variety of menu options. This was important to me since my partner included several persons with specific dietary requirements. That being most memorable part of our dining experience was the service. The host went out of her way to ensure we were comfortable while waiting for our table. Kudos to our server. She was incredible.

My mother and I dined at the Consulate tonight for the third time in a few years. (My prior experiences had been quite enjoyable.) Tonight, however, the owner Mr. Hines ruined an otherwise lovely dinner and evening. At the end of our meal, we ordered the coffee cheesecake dessert. We took one bite but did not care for the competing flavors of the pistachio, coffee, and orange marmalade. We requested to change the dessert, and the owner told us that we could not do so. I then politely asked the owner to remove the item from my bill. THEN the owner lodged a condescending insult and said, “This is not the Cheesecake Factory. We can’t remove the dessert from your bill; that costs us money.” I promptly informed the owner that we routinely dine at some of the finest dining establishments in Atlanta (never the Cheesecake Factory, by the way), and I’ve never been insulted when sending an item back… and certainly not over a meager $7 dessert. Moreover, the owner made no attempt at any accommodation, which most fine dining establishments do without prompting. Mr. Hines, your rude clandestine remark over a $7 dessert just cost you way more dollars! Service matters.

What I said was: "unlike corporate owned restaurants such as Cheesecake Factory, we cannot "swap out" any dish as you requested. Being a small independently owned and operated restaurant with we do not have the luxury of "swapping out" items any guest decides they do not love." We would not be able to operate successfully if we became a sampling venue. It was not an insult, you chose to take it that way. You told your server the coffee profile was "too strong". Honestly, 99.9% of our guests love it for that very reason..it is based on Turkish Coffee. As stated on our menu, we do not return items. It has been our policy for 8 years. Sorry you do not see our vantage point.

My second visit was even better than my first! I treated myself and my guest to the plantains with pistachio, New Guinea shrimp shareable, the succulent Executive Plate Chilean Sea Bass with pistachio and apricot on couscous, and several delicious drinks, including the Tranquilopa and Moroccan Sunset. We split the Turkish Coffee Cheesecake (with marmalade!) and the Taro sorbet and found them astoundingly complementary of each other - WOW. For all items, the flavors were outstanding and our lovely server again lovely. Where else in Atlanta (or many other places) can one get such a beguiling mix of South American and East Mediterranean food? Outstanding experience, with the minor quibble that my validated parking in the 10th W 10th garage must have tipped over the 3-hour mark because I had to pay $2 at departure. A minor matter after such a symphonic and luxurious feast for two!

My only complaint is that I made a reservation and was seated at a high top at the bar. I really preferred a table, but a large party of 20 booked a table and took precedence. Being a solo dinner has its disadvantages. I had knee surgery last year, so the high top was painful. The food was incredible though.
