Celebrated as one of the TOP 5 restaurants in the Lothians at the 2019 Food and Drink awards, our laid-back restaurant The Campaign Room, is once again open from Thursday 29th of April!

Using the very best, fresh, local and seasonal Scottish produce, we’ll be dishing up a daily selection of mouthwatering lunches and dinners from our brand new Spring menu.

And it’s definitely time to eat, drink, relax and catch-up with friends! So come and join us for lunch or dinner and escape to a breathtaking world away at The Campaign Room bistro. And if you want to linger after eating, you’re more than welcome to enjoy drinks in our outdoor Castle courtyard or on the Champagne Terrace - the views are stunning!

It’s a pleasant decor but sadly the service was very slow. We asked for a menu for a sweet but it took a long time to come. We were tired waiting so we paid a left. We enjoyed the food we had but sadly we will not be visiting again

Pervious visits here have been excellent, but on this occasion the service was dreadful! We waited over half an hour for our order to be taken and then almost an hour for the food to arrive. I had to eventually call a waiter to clear our plates and ask for the sweet menu. We ordered three sweets with coffees. The coffee arrived ten minutes before the sweets and one of the sweets never materialised! The staff were sullen and everything seemed an effort. Eventually I had do go to the bar to get the bill. The food was fairly average. I’ve had a better chicken burger at McDonalds! Overall not a good experience and it will be some time before I consider returning.

Friendly and helpful staff but service was very very slow. Food was well prepared , well presented and delicious. one dish on the menu was not available. Over all the Bistro is family friendly with a good relaxing ambiance.

Great service from both member of staff with an explanation of parts of the menu. Drinks order and food order taken well and served in a very reasonable time period. Food was excellent with sizeable portions. Staff very attentive with great interaction. Overall a very good experience.

The Bistro is in an extension to the main building and provides a great environment for relaxed dining. Staff are knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Food quality is very good and there are some very pleasant surprises with items on the menu e.g. smoked mackerel pate has beetroot and rhubarb that enhance the flavours and the cheesecake is quite different from what was expected- in a really good way 😋 Very happy customer.

The staff in the Bistro are very friendly and efficient, despite being very busy on the evening we were there. The food was amazing.

Delicious food , well presented in ambiant surroundings with friends. Really enjoyed exploring the beautiful interior and our short , impromptu history lesson was much appreciated.

The food was very good, the venue was lovely and the staff were super friendly, my only complaint was the (around) 10% service charge wasn't enough so please feel free to tip great service a little bit more than the flat service charge. I'm sure they should be paid more and it's always best practice to tip well someone who is going the extra mile while they serve you food lol I think this is the third or fourth time we've been, and we will be going again, soon. Thank you campaign room bistro, you did not disappoint.

Excellent meal Last night. The varied menu offers something for everyone,with the food quality being exceptional. It surpassed previous experiences in 5 star hotels and fancy restaurants. We will definitely return when next in the area. The staff were a delight and compliments to their talented chef.

I have been a few times but on Wednesday I have never heard so many complaints from various tables including ours Table was late, Glasses not used were not removed asked for drinks only 1 arrived We asked for sauces for main meal never arrived and when we got bill it had a service charge on it would be okay if service was okay. We also waited some time for main course think I have said enough

Wait a hour for a bowl of soup other customers arrived after 30 mins after and received there starter before us pretty poor but the food was nice when it arrived

I have used the Bistro on many occasions and have never had a bad meal, choices are perfect and the food is excellent. Try the soups they are special. Last visit included a small child who was catered for. The room can be a wee bit smokey due to coal fire but this seems to have improved latterly. Service and staff very friendly.

As this was booked as we were staying in the hotel our expectations were high. The menu is enough for a Bistro and fairly good choices. My hock starter was lovely, I would have preferred normal bread rather than toast. I had roast chicken and it was delicious, the sauce was peppery but I like that. My partner had fish and chips but was disappointed with fish, lacked taste. Maybe not cod or haddock. The apple crumble was very good, custard and ice cream!

Stumbled upon this place while looking for a place for a family get-together. We loved the ambience - the Tower and the restaurant are lovely. Staff were super friendly and the food was great. Will certainly be back

The drive up to Carberry Tower mansion House sets the scene for a most enjoyable visit. The welcome from staff is friendly. The Campaign Bistro is welcoming and cosy with a warming atmosphere from the decor and wood burning stove. The food is well presented and so delicious. At our table we had the Sunday roast, roast beef and all the trimmings, Venison bolognese with tagliatelle, Seafood platter with chunky chips and one Crannachan for dessert. The portions are good. It was delicious and we talked about it the rest of the afternoon. I would definitely recommend the Campaign Bistro.

The selection of music is totally out of keeping with the style of the room (20s/30s empire, days of the raj). At points was really quite off-putting, and too loud.

My husband had the burger and chips and was delighted. Thick patty and heated bun along with a generous portion of cheese and bacon. I had the spaghetti and it was good but way too much sauce. The service was fantastic.

Carberry is a beautiful place and having coffee upstairs is a pleasure. The staff are so pleasant and helpful. The only downside for me is the menu which doesn't really cater for non meat and fish eaters.

The service here was very good, friendly efficient. The food was tasty! Lovely leek and potatoes soup with caramelised onion. Baked camembert, A lamb casserole, which was very much enjoyed and a simple but very tasty spaghetti putanesca. And the peanut brownie was gorgeous, rich but not too sweet. I would eat here again.

We loved the menu overall. Have dined a few times and this was the best the food has been. Really enjoy coming and will be back. Staff are lovely and friendly. Parking is easy. There was a lovely Christmas smell throughout which was enjoyed and appreciated. Solid 5*.

We are new to the area so tried for the first time. Absolutely beautiful restaurant with amazing food. The lady on reception was lovely as were all the staff. Value for money! So a definite 10/10 from us and there will be many more visits.

Had a wonderul Xmas lunch in a wonderful location, with all the gorgeous Xmas decorations surrounding us. Superb service as well Took our tea and scones next door into the bar lounge after our meal, was a perfect ending to the visit. Already planning our next visit, in fact each of us plan to bring other relatives with us. Can't recommend highly enough. Thank you to all the staff, a perfect day 💙

Lovely cosy venue , nice decor. Friendly staff. Portions were large. Good vegetarian selection. Salmon main course very disappointing I was expecting lemon but it was full of Olives with a mushy texture!
