The Black Grape - a new small plate restaurant located on Edinburgh's Royal Mile. Expect small plates, wine & good times in a stunning setting. This custom designed wine bar & restaurant is the ideal setting for intimate date night dining, drinks with friends or a quick snack as you people watch in the heart of the city. Our menu is a gastronomic tour de force with inspiration from around the globe. One thing unites all our dishes however - bold, punchy flavours and plates that are perfect for sharing. We had a wonderful meal. The food was fresh. The oysters were super good. We had the chicken and a scallop main that were really good. Salad was fresh and had a lovely tarragon flavor. While this restaurant may seem in the middle of the tourist area, it is not touristy at all. The staff is wonderful and the food is exceptional. We highly recommend The Black Grape.

Lovely little find, beautiful and very relaxed setting! Staff are amazing, the perfect balance between attentive and giving you the time and space to enjoy your evening. The food is delicious - lots of small plates but really interesting dishes, a taste sensation!

Came here for our anniversary and were greeted with bubbly, which was much appreciated. The service was great, with multiple staff members checking on us without hovering. However, the food was quite boring though it sounded great from the menu. I would chalk this up to a lack of seasoning. Almost everything needed salt (not an experience we usually have). The ideas seemed good, but execution was not good. Especially for a restaurant with such high reviews, this was a let down.

The food is amazing!!! There is no other way to describe it. The service is attentive and takes time to answer questions and explain the menu. This restaurant has an interesting concept to serve food in small portions as tapas. Shared is highly recommended as there are so many amazing food combinations on the menu, which need to be tried. Absolutely a strong recommendation!

Amazing food and service, couldn’t fault it. We especially loved the tuna tartare and the mozzarella. Great wine recommendations. Only negative was the noise level which was a bit uncomfortable at times.

Good if served rather quickly. Some plates were superb, others rather bog standard. Bread and the mozzarella some of the best…… battered prawns and the ‘Marie Rose’ type dressing disappointing. Wine was great, post dinner cocktails a let down. Don’t know if I would visit again.

A friend and I visited for lunch for the first time, and had a lovely meal. The food was excellent, we also had a couple of cocktails each and a bottle of wine. The stand out dishes were the tuna tartare, the carpaccio and the buffalo mozzarella - all so delicious. I’d like to compliment the staff who waited on our table, two young women, one of whom was on a trial shift, and who provided very friendly and knowledgable service - both a credit to your business.

3rd visit to this venue. As always delicious and tasty small plates. A beautiful Rose to wash it all down. And great service from knowledgeable waiter. We will be back !

This is my second visit and I love the variety of having several small dishes which we can share. I would have liked maybe a bit of salad to have with my various options but the food was delicious.

Wonderful meal, really enjoyed our evening. excellent very attentive staff looked after us very well. The food was truly amazing, beautifully presented and very delicious. Tapas type food is not normally our first choice but we shall definitely return.

This was our first visit and we thoroughly enjoyed it. There is an imaginative menu and the food was perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. We particularly liked the Crab Arancini. It’s small plates but the portions are quite generous. The staff were friendly and helpful and the ambience was relaxed.
