Why am I being asked to tip 20% when I have to order my own meal off of my phone? The food isn’t very good and the service is only someone bringing your your food from the kitchen and plopping it on the table.

Nice ambience, our waitress was very good, smiled, answered our questions, was fast and friendly. There was a group of you g people at the bar who were very loud snd at times made it hard to converse at the table.

Our waitress (petite lady with dark straight hair in a ponytail) promised that desserts would be coursed, yet brought out dessert (which had ice cream on it) while we were still dining on the entree. Horrible service.

Beautiful room and good food but it is far too loud and the service is poor. We waited 30 mins for our cocktail order which ended up coming after appetizers and at the same time as entrees.

Excellent time here at the Black Cat From the moment we walked in , from the time we left was absolutely amazing. Thanks to the Host for giving us a great Table. We were never rushed and great Service from Anna W Food was tasty and the Eggplant Meatless Balls were extremely flavorful and tasty. And I don’t like Eggplant. Great Job!

The history and ambiance are amazing and their drinks are great! My steak was so tough at medium rare that I wound up just eating French fries for dinner. Lovely place to go for drinks and a catch up, but I would not recommend the food.

The Black Cat was a surprise! We ate on the outdoor patio (catio) which was a lovely space. The food was delicious and a really good value. I had the soup, sole, and shared desserts. Most of all, the service was top notch, everyone being kind & friendly. We had a great experience & will be back again.

The food was amazing, by far the best bacon and mac and cheese we’ve ever tried. (other than the overly sour pickled onions; but you might like sour onions idk) Ambiance is what I really came here for and it definitely lived up to my expectations there. The bill however almost ruined the entire night. This was by far the most expensive date I’ve ever been on, and that’s not a good thing considering we went to an amazing Italian restaurant for cheaper. For a mac & cheese, a burger, a cocktail and two beers the bill came to $80. Yikes. We tried avoiding the pricer items on the menu, like the $29 steak. As gorgeous as this place was, I won’t be coming back unfortunately. Which makes me really sad as I loved the gothic atmosphere and lgbt safe space!!

The food was incredible. However, we were asked if we wanted to sit on the patio and it was a beautiful night, so we decided to do that… But there was no service. We ordered on the app and included a very large tip bringing our total to over $160, no one came to check in on us. They came out with our main plates salads and appetizers and everything all at once plopped em down and that was the last we saw of anyone. I had to call the front desk to ask for a box to bring some leftovers home, and they acted as though they never heard of such a thing, I asked if they gave refills on their ice tea and the same thing like I was bothering them or that they had never heard of refills. I’m not sure if sitting inside the restaurant would be any different… But I’d be willing to try because the food was seriously great.

We had a very positive experience. We made a reservation soon before arriving and were seated indoors right away. We probably didn't even need the reservation (for 2 people). Pretty good for a Friday night. The drinks and food were delicious and our waiter was very friendly. My only real critique is that it got quite loud as the evening progressed. We had a wonderful time.

I did not get to taste anything because you guys won’t let me in because I’m under 21. I understand the rules but you should’ve told me the age limit before I made plans and I was excited on OpenTable or on your website you should put age limit, so this doesn’t happen to someone else. Thank you.

10/10 our favorite most consistent spot. We came here for a birthday party and the service and food didn’t disappoint. They went above and beyond to save us an outdoor spot last minute. I genuinely feel cared for by staff here and the food is great!

Great night until the end when a passive aggressive host made us uncomfortable as a way of getting us to leave versus having an adult conversation. The rest of the employees were great. This one should look for alternative employment not in the hospitality industry.

An excellent historically queer venue to visit for dinner with friends, a drink at the bar or any other number of occasions. The interior is like taking a step back in time, dimly-lit and cozy with portraits and photos of queer icons adorning the walls. There are many comfy boothes that allow ample space for couples and larger parties alike. Going on the night of the Oscars was a bit on the loud side, but that's to be expected. Will definitely plan on returning in the future with friends!
