Used to come here forever ago. Was just ok on food, I had mushrooms not a lot of flavor and way too much arugula on top. Also had fish and chips, were OK. Husband had pork chop, and it looked like ham, weird. Server was sweet, and efficient.

The saurbraten was just ok. It was not as I expected. Usually it has more seasoning to it. I've been coming to Berghoff for years, so trust me I know. This entree was "off". It's a shame.

An excellent dining experience all around! Our server was very friendly and extremely helpful. We explained we had a show to get to in an hour and she placed our orders immediately and helped ensure we got out on time, with plenty of time to make it to the theatre. Food was delicious, atmosphere was lovely and warm. Would absolutely eat here again, and would definitely visit before another show!

Visited this restaurant following seeing it on YouTube. Excellent food and service. Staff were very welcoming, our server was extremely helpful and the food really was delicious!! Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Chicago. Nice chilled out environment after a busy day sightseeing.

We ordered old school entrees (schnitzel, white fish, game sausage, and sausage trio), and each was well prepared, well seasoned, and ample. The house brewed beers were terrific, and the apple strudel made for a classic end to dinner. Monday night was fairly quiet with the main room about 1/3 full, so conversation was easy. Overall, a very nice evening.

We were very excited to go back to The Berghof. We had great memories of past dining experiences. I had an IPA, and my wife had the root beer on draft. The IPA was mediocre compared with other microbreweries, and the root beer on tap was excellent. I ordered the Jagerschnitzel that was disappointing. All the components; the meat, the Spaetzle, and the potatoes were very bland. My wife ordered the Sauerbraten. The sauce had a nice tangy flavor, but it was poured over gray and unappetizing slices of sirloin. The potatoes were bland, but on top of everything were perfectly cooked and enjoyable carrots and asparagus. After being disappointed with our meals, we passed on dessert. The server was perfectly attentive and helpful. We love the historical murals and the old style of the dining room, but after so many years, it seems tired and in need of a deep clean.

Just okay. Have had Berghoff's food at O'Hare, so figured I would give them a try before a show. While I would go back, I would not go pre-theater again. Pros: Well-priced menu with lots of options. Food is also delicious. Great beer. Cons: They are definitely understaffed, so long waits for ordering, food. Initial chicken schnitzel dish came out cold.

The onion soup was superb. The Wiener schnitzel was tough and dry. The spetzel was okay but not at all like my wife’s. The apples in the strudel weren’t cooked enough to make them soft and comfortable to eat. Too bad, I had hoped to have a special meal

Old school brew house restaurant. Everything was wonderful, I would liked more German dishes. Also a better selection of German Wines. That said, it was very, very good. I am very happy to bring family and friends.

Such a disappointment. Used to eat there regularly when it was still owned by the Berghoff family. Now it's evident that greedy investors are trying to squeeze maximum profits on the back of a venerated name. Stale, store bought bread, including the heels. Pasty creamed spinach. Flat soda and half frozen "German chocolate" cake. So sad

The gluten-free options were excellent. Lots of choices, and the food quality was very good. There was a large group of college students in the middle of the dining room that were extremely loud andinconsiderate (and potentially over served). This should not negatively impact the review of the restaurant, but it very much negatively impacted our dining experience.

The menu has changed from strictly German food to offering fish tacos and marinara on chicken schnitzel. Yep, marinara on chicken schnitzel. I enjoyed the Hungarian Goulash. Would go back for that and the traditional schnitzel. Berghoff’s holds so many memories that it’s hard to see them move away from only offering the traditional German food.

It felt more like an old country buffet vibe than quaint German restaurant. It was really bright and noisy. I guess my expectations were higher. The food was fantastic, but if you’re looking at it for quaint and romantic, go somewhere else.

All the food we had was quite good. My chicken was a little overcooked but still good. When we asked for the leftovers to be packed up, the waiter did not speak much English so did not bring our food back. It was thrown out. We should have been offered a replacement but was not. This would not keep us from going back though.
