The Apparatus Room bridges the old and the new, offering iconic New American cuisine by Chef Rece Hogerheide rooted in Midwestern ingredients, thoughtfully crafted cocktails, and esoteric wines. By blending a three-meal restaurant, elevated dinner service with signature touches, and a world class hotel bar, the Apparatus Room welcomes locals and travels alike to sip, stay, and enjoy one of Detroit’s signature restaurants. Our cocktail program is classically focused with inspiration drawn from the history of the building and the city itself. The ingredients may be familiar and the presentation simple and classic, though each cocktail has a deeper story to tell for those who have time to listen. Sommelier Liz Martinez showcases the diversity of both Old World & New World wines, and the regions are separated as such on the menu. Winemakers that take pride in sustainable, environmental practices are always on the top of our mind.

We came here for a unique experience near the Detroit River Walk. The feel of the restaurant was great: super high ceilings, big windows, lots of seating options, very attentive staff who aim to please. Because it was a special occasion we got some free little extras, which was delightful (even though we didn’t particularly like the potatoes). I ordered the walleye and I’d say that what showed up on the plate was not what I expected given the description on the menu and by the server. The fish was too dry and the accoutrements meager at best. My companion got the gnocchi which was wonderful even without the ham to make it vegetarian. The food was all seemingly made to order and different from run of the mill menu items. Other diners were quite happy with their food and I’d suggest reading reviews to consider what to order ahead of ordering. Loved the ambience and will return for a pasta dish and the great attention.

Everything was great except for the music which was too loud (“new age” music with a DJ).

We had a wonderful lunch. The food and the service were excellent. Best of all, everyone, from the host, the cooks, the bartenders, and our waitress all seemed to enjoy working there making for a very nice atmosphere. We will be back.

I saw a lot of mixed reviews. But, I had a great experience. Sat at bar. Pork collar was amazing. 5 stars.

We continue to have a wonderful dining experience. The food is always very good but the service, the staff who wait on us, make our experience. Hats off to them for the attention, helpfulness, and friendliness !

Lovely ambiance, interesting cocktails, food was delicious- the 14 year sourdough was amazing. Bucatini with crab was also very good. I’d recommend it- go with friends to share dishes and sample everything!

Some items on the “bar menu” should be on the main menu! Specifically the burger it was delicious. It gives a nice variety.

Always incredible, never fail, friendly, and always very accommodating to different diets. Such patient people and the atmosphere is alway giving the best energy. Been many times for various reasons and have always found myself coming back over and over again. Bravo to the management and staff to keep this fine place in awesome running order. Also great social!
