The Anchor in Danbury is the epitome of an English Country Inn, boasting beautiful traditional beams, quaint shining brass and a warm welcoming atmosphere which has made this pub a firm favourite for many years.
We have a lovely large garden with a fun children's play area, great for keeping the kids entertained while you catch up with friends and family over a relaxing drink or with some great food.
- Four legged friends are welcome at the pub, please ask our friendly staff for confirmation on which areas can accommodate you as we do require that dogs are kept out of the main dinning areas.
- Please note reservations with a dog are necessary, and can only be taken over the phone on 01245 222457 stating you have a dog.
- If you have a pushchair/buggy we ask that you call to make reservation, due to limited space.
- We only take reservations for our INDOOR tables.

Lovely proper old pub. No TVs, only slight hint of some music. Staff excellent. Food excellent also. Top Ploughman's.

As usual, the food and service was excellent. The staff are always friendly, efficient and attentive without being intrusive. We have eaten here on a number of occasions and have never had cause for complaint. However, on this occasion we were a little less than pleased to find we had been seated in the dog friendly area of the restaurant, immediately adjacent to the gents loo with passing traffic brushing the back of my seat, which totally ruined the occasion. Don't get me wrong, I applaud the fact that a dog friendly area is provided for those who wish to take there dogs along, but if we had wished to sit in this are we would have requested it. I think it is incumbent on the management to inform potential clients if this is the only area available at the time of booking, to enable them to decline the offer if they so wish and arrange to eat elsewhere, which on this occasion is exactly what we would have done. If not for this unfortunate incident, our star rating would have been 5 on all aspects of our visit, as it has always been in the past. But on this occasion very disappointed.

Need to change menu not just specials. We go here quite often and we struggle to find something different to eat. Portions have got smaller but prices have risen. Having said that the food was nice and service was good.

The table was in a good position, the staff were very helpful and attentive. The food was very hot and tasty, overall a very positive experience.

Been here before and food as good as ever and big portions and always served hot. Cannot fault and as place was extremely busy service took a bit longer but still did not distract from food. Will be back

A lovely place with lovely staff. There is 'fancy' food on the blackboards, and basics on the menus. The food is good. We had a lovely time and we would go back. The free National Trust site 'Danbury Commons and Blakes Wood' is a short distance away, which is great for a walk afterwards.

Although bright in the expended bar. That area was a little oi as there was noisy as there was no carpet on the floor. Other than that the rest was excellent

Top class service, excellent food. Unfortunately the experience was spoilt by the three women at the next table slagging off someone's ex-husband in very loud voices.

I st class friendly efficient service. Comprehensive daily menu, plus a good selection on the specials menu. Good food, well prepared at a reasonable price. a very pretty and comfortable venue. Thoroughly recommend.

My first time here but will definitely come back. Lovely staff greeting us. Lots of menu options and specials board and the food was delicious and great value. The weather was cold so we sat inside but would love to come back when is warmer to sit outside.
