The food was excellent. The space was beautiful. The live music on Friday was excellent. We chose the corner table away from people to be able to listen to each other but between love sets the music they played was too loud and we had to repeatedly ask them to turn it down maybe 4x. Then they didn’t ask us if we wanted dessert and just handed us the check saying “do you want another drink?” We took their cue and departed. BUT our staff said the it was the waiters second night so it’s fine. Worth returning…

This place is mostly empty. The food was fine. The service was poor. It took forever to get our drinks and our check. The waitress hardly ever checked back.

I had a very good Valentine’s Day date with my girlfriend the short rib was really good it was really tender. My girlfriend had the chicken and it was a little much but tasted good. The dessert was a little disappointing just whipped cream and 2 cholocate strawberries, also a macaron and a chocolate stick but my girlfriend did not get any in hers. The server was really attentive and nice she made the eventing better. For the price the flavor and amount of food is not worth it but overall it was a good experience and a good dinner.

I had a great experience overall the service was great on all levels, the bartender was very efficient and phenomenal the drinks was well balanced and I could tell it was the right ingredients every pour I really value consistency so overall I give a 10 being highest on the scale, the food was great well balanced and I could tell it was made with passion and love, the music was amazing I enjoy live music so the experience was amazing.

Valentine’s Day. They couldn’t find our reservation even though I had email confirmation and showed him the resv in the open table app. Implied it was my problem because there is no resv so no table. Even though we had proof! Basically was telling us we should leave but because we were insistent he would try to find a table. So we waited 15 minutes to sit us in a half empty restaurant. Saw him turn away several more tables because he “couldn’t find their resv.” Short rib was good and the live entertainment was great.

So nice to have a quiet, comfortable, “neighborhood” restaurant in the Gold Coast again. Great menu, well-prepared food (we had steak and delicious honey balsamic roast chicken) and reasonably priced cocktails and wine ($18 for a glass of Justin Cabernet!) Lovely service too. Will definitely be back.

Very good restaurant (was the Pump Room) after a long flight to Chicago when you want something comforting. Dined late night on delicious ample side salad as a first course and chicken entree and their smash burger with lots of crispy fries. Good glasses by the wine - Landmark for white and Daou for red. Staff was accommodating and professional at all times.

The dining room with the pretty lights was closed. No warning. They set up tables next to a curtain in the area between the bar and what is normally the dining room. There was one other couple in the area - the place was dead and quiet. Boring! We stayed for a glass of wine while we figured out where else to go. The bartender was not attentive and on their phone. I do NOT recommend.

The restaurant was 20% full, it took four people in our party 47 minutes and two trips to the bar to get their drinks. ( going to the bar to see if they were forgotten or somehow we could help getting them ) And when asking about its- the bartender was just nasty about the fact that perhaps we. thought we should’ve been served in less than 3/4 of an hour/- cocktails were just so so -not well balanced. Our waitress was very nice and was doing the best she could but we would never go back there. They did give us a discount on food because they recognized, the atrociousness of the service, but it won’t make up for it. The food was good and it was hot. The menu was limited, but we knew that going in.

Service was horrible yesterday. Entrees were very late. The green bean casserole was more like mushroom soup with bits of green beans.

Pagamos una experiencia de cena de thanksgiving, y honestamente la comida fue regular , nada excepcional, el servicio muy malo , cobraron 20% de propina por adelantado y luego al cobrar las bebidas (es decir, una botella de vino que solo fue abierta por la mesera) querían cobrar 20% de propina nuevamente. Todos estaban desorganizados y tardaron muchísimo tiempo entre tiempo y tiempo. No volvería jamás!

It was described as a "Thanksgiving Feast." The staff was pleasant but there was nothing festive about the occasion. THIS RESTAURANT IS NOT FOR SOMEONE WITH LIMITED MOBILITY. It's an old building and they have done their best but my husband - on a walker - needed to take 2 different elevators to use the restroom facilities, one of which requires a staff member to set up. I get that senior staff earned the day off but then the restaurant shouldn't have marketed a Thanksgiving Feast. Thanksgiving is defined by the food experience and we were very disappointed.

Good food and relaxing atmosphere. Not sure what happened but Waiter made a lot of noise setting up the table toward end of our meal throwing dishes on the table - surprising to see at such an iconic establishment

This newest iteration of an iconic restaurant inside the venerable Ambassador Hotel is off to a good start. We needed an early dinner before the opera so when we arrived the bar was far busier than the restaurant, but the service was friendly and attentive, the food arrived promptly and was delicious and perfectly cooked. As a bonus, although the bar was full, the noise level was very tolerable. We’ll definitely be adding it to our list of local favorites.

We reserved a table for brunch at the restaurant but we were moved to the lobby of the hotel. This may have been fine but the food was mediocre at best. We had some croissants that were obviously frozen and then microwaved. The OJ was made from concentrate and the coffee was very thin. Honestly, breakfast at a Starbucks would have been both cheaper and better.

We came for Christmas dinner and there was no ambiance or any holiday decoration. It didn't look any different than any other day. They closed the bar in between tea service and dinner. Would have been nice to know that beforehand. When we arrived early for our reservation to enjoy a drink at the bar, it was closed. They could have at least had their tea and coffee station open. The restaurant is in a hotel. So that's ridiculous. I would have been furious if I was a guest staying there. The food was either overly salted or bland. The cocktails were fabulous and our server was great. I would not do Christmas dinner here ever again. Nothing about it felt special.

This iconic room does not have the excitement it used to when it was the Pump Room (the most recent incarnation), but it is still a very calming, comfortable space. We happen to be there on a Wednesday night with terrible weather out, so there were only a couple tables, but the food was fantastic. 3 Hummus platter (the spicy hummus was spot on), the chicken and burger all delicious. Both the house specialty Manhattan and Old Fashioned were expertly made and the toffee with ice-cream and chocolate brownie dessert were all fantastic. Give it a try!

Afternoon tea service here was perfect. It was cozy, quiet and a perfect way to take a moment with friends in the middle of a busy holiday season. The kitchen happily accommodated one of our party who was gluten and dairy-free. The pastry chef even stopped by to make sure she was enjoying everything. The service was so attentive, teas and champagne were delicious. The ambiance is so sophisticated and overlooks the gold coast streets decorated for Christmas. This place is a gem. And for half the price of the peninsula. I cannot say enough great things about the staff and the experience.

We booked the Ambassador Room for brunch, but sadly that room was closed and we ate in the Library. We booked way in advance and weren't given any notice prior to our reservation. We ate here only out of nostalgia (we used to stay here often way back when it was the Ambassador East). The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't amazing either. I wouldn't come here for breakfast again, but I would give dinner a try and hope the Ambassador room was open.

We chose the Ambassador Room because we were staying at the hotel. Although we were the first people in the restaurant, our waiter was not informed of our presence for some time. He, Brad, apologized and took our drink order. My wine tasted off, and he quickly got me a new glass of another vintage. During the long wait for our food (though there were only two other couples there) we were not offered a cracker, a breadstick or any other sort of bread. The food was good, but the portions were small, especially given the price. Brad the waiter was friendly and as efficient as he was able to be. It was, however, a disappointment for a 70th birthday dinner.

My party of 4 came in for afternoon tea. We had a child with us and the restaurant was very accommodating. They brought out a very pretty and festive plate for my friend’s son while we took our time choosing teas and eating scones. Unfortunately the chicken and waffle sandwich was very dry along with the salmon sandwich. The cucumber roll was completely soggy. We were interested in trying different teas and our server was very helpful in refreshing our teas. Service was great but the food was underwhelming.

Wanted to love this experience. Very relaxing in a beautiful part of the restaurant, not at all rushed. Tea menu was very interesting and Felipe (food and beverage manager) was a gracious host. Very appealing menu but food was just ok in execution. I love chicken and waffles but the waffle was extraordinarily dense and doughy. Smoked salmon sandwich dry and overly salty. Server wasn’t able to answer even the most basic questions about the menu (although Felipe was very knowledgeable). When I first got there, it wasn’t clear where I should check in for the reservation and a very nice server got me seated although I don’t think it was her job to do so. To top it off, my friend and I split the bill, provided 2 credit cards at the restaurant but I was still charged for the whole experience on my card. Also, note that 20% gratuity is NOT included in the published price of the experience although this isn’t written anywhere on the website or the menus but it is included on your bill.

The Ambassador has a special place in my heart and may make me see their restaurant with rose colored glasses. The food is very average and the restaurant is almost completely abandoned. Our server was also the host and he was very nice albeit decently absent. Not something I really mind, especially on a date night. The drinks are delicious and I would highly recommend sitting at the bar anytime. I will absolutely be back, though, because this hotel is special to me. I do have hopes that the revival of the once iconic Pump Room is just on the horizon.

We were really disappointed. We made a reservation on Open Table for 8 people, which was available and confirmed. We arrived on time for our reservation and saw that the restaurant was closed. We were understandably confused, and there was no one on-hand to explain what was going on. We asked at the front desk of the hotel. They told us they would be serving brunch in the Library (the bar across the hotel lobby). That would have been mildly disappointing, but fine. The (closed dining room is a nice room with floor-to-ceiling windows. The Library is a dark bar, and not what we signed up for. But, ok, stuff happens and the Library is nice enough. But it was soon clear that they didn't have real waiters on hand. The guy who helped us was very nice and did his best, but this was clearly his first time waiting tables. We were one of three total occupied tables (i.e., it was slow/empty), and the waiter disappeared for 30-40 mins at a time. When the food came out, it was a different random person who brought it out, and he had to ask which food went where. Again, not a big deal, but there was no one else in the restaurant and we waited forever for our food, and then when we got it all the food was going to the wrong people. I had to go back to the front desk of the hotel to summon the waiter so we could finally get our check and leave. I know this all sounds whiny and privileged, and I suppose it is. The food was fine and no one died. But our trip to the Ambassador Room was one of the least-pleasant restaurant experiences I've had in a long, long while.

We used to eat at the Ambassador East when it was the original Pump Room. We decided to return for Thanksgiving 35 years later. The noise level allows for easy conversation and the interior design was simple and elegant. The service was friendly and we plan to return.

The afternoon tea is new and a must try!! Holy cow I don’t even know where to start with this review because it was all just so good! Our waiter (I wish I remembered his name) was truly amazing! When we arrived, we were the only ones and were able to sit at the Sinatra table (yes, Frank use to visit this place and you can sit at his table). Our waiter throughly explained everything to us - the tea, the scones, the tower (savory & sweets), about their amazing pastry chef it was such a fun and educational experience. We both opted for a green tea; the emperor’s genamicha and Italian green almondine. I absolutely loved the Italian green almondine as it had notes of almond which was soothing and sweet. Everything is made in house by their pastry chef, Samantha Santiago Torres (the former pastry chef of LondonHouse which is well known for their afternoon tea). All of the food is well balanced and nothing is overly sweet or over powering, it’s such a pleasant mix (from what I learned, very traditional European style). The scones are paired with 3 different spreads and the lemon curd was my favorite. The tower, it’s hard to pick a favorite when everything is different from the next but outstanding on its own. The Camembert and Cucumber Sandwich might top my savory list and the Licorice Moscato Macaron was a stunner in the sweets. This was such a fun way to spend our afternoon and I can’t wait to come back again soon! Highly recommend!!
