This is a nice addition to the restaurants in La Jolla. We’ve now been twice. The first time was much better and we basically ordered the same things both times. Our server the first time was excellent, but this time the service was chaotic! Restaurant has a cool interior and we will try it again, but I hope they keep improving toward a consistently good experience.

Overall, the meal was great. The prices for steak were a bit high. I got the 12oz bone in filet which had the price of MP on the menu. It was $90. Too damn high. The same steak at Steak 48 which is a much nicer restaurant is 72. My wife had a pasta dish that she loved. The hamachi appetizer was awesome. The wine list is sub par for a place like this with no reserve list. The service was like amateur hour at a nice restaurant. I will definitely return but not for steak.

Beautiful restaurant inside and out. Carpaccio and beet salads were great. Pasta entrees were good, not great. Smaller portions. Wait staff was attentive and polite. GF got a free dessert for her birthday !! They have Gluten free options which is nice.

We loved it. Everything we ordered was delicious. Hamachi crudo, burrata, NY strip, whipped potatoes, chimichurri chicken, sinful chocolate dessert. We can’t wait to go back and try the rest! The service was excellent. The restaurant is beautiful. The only thing we didn’t love was the noise level, but as my husband pointed out, the noise added energy to the place. It wasn’t boring! Maybe it would have been quieter outside for those who are really concerned about that. I would definitely recommend this place.

My husband and I went to Amalfi Llama for the first time. The restaurant is huge and decorated very nicely. The bar was inviting and seats a lot of customers. We ordered 2 cocktails that were amazing (Bellini and purple mezcal drink). We ate thin crust delicious pizza and Caesar salad. Both were delicious. The service was impeccable and the bartenders were hard working. We will definitely return.

Had a late lunch early dinner on a Saturday out on the patio. It was not crowded or noisy. Service was very attentive. Our server Rodrigo was excellent. I did think it was odd that they only gave the cocktail menus when you sat down (to encourage you to order a drink likely). But was going to order a cocktail anyway, so it was fine. We had the empanadas and the burrata appetizer. They were both really good. My husband had a pizza I had branzino. Both of us very much enjoyed our dinners. We finished up with some gelato. Prices were not inexpensive necessarily, but they were not any different than most nicer restaurants that I have been to in the San Diego area. We thought the portions were generous. Overall a great experience.

I decided to celebrate my 50th birthday at the Amalfi llama and I am very pleased with the experience. The service was excellent- Ivan was the best! I ordered the Branzino with Chimichurri, and it was excellent! My friend ordered the mushroom pizza and she loved it. And my other friend ordered pasta it was excellent as well. Drinks were delicious and The Barrata appetizer was delicious.

Service was excellent. Seated quickly, water delivered and drink ordered. Waiter went over his favorites. We started with the artichoke salad (ok but not great) and the calamari (loved it). Shared the truffle pasta (delicious). Ordered the chocolate sin cake (very good). They surprised us with 3 scoops of vanilla ice cream for our celebration (outstanding).

First time at this new restaurant and overall, our experience was mixed-some dishes were great, others not so much. Pricey drinks, $12 focaccia bread ( good but first loaf should have been complimentary ) Caesar salad was very good, spaghetti was boring and somewhat tasteless, steak was ok. Pizza was good. Traditional cheesecake was dry and not what we expected-server was nice enough to remove it from our bill. Service was good. Can’t say we would rush back at this point but maybe down the line…

Beautiful Place, Very Good Service, over all Greta food my only complaint would be the amount of oil on the New York, made it hard to enjoy and even harder to digest. Ambience is energetic and fun. The Prices is what might kill it after a while when the furor dies off and people Don’t feel like $125 for dinner.

We had an excellent expedience, Filet was delicious and cooked to perfection as was the Branzino. Fairly noisy , we’re set at a table in the bar area, don’t take that table, noisy! Will be back, fun spot!

Very attentive waitstaff! Ordered the Tomahawk for two and the crust on the steak was phenomenal. Seasoned well and cooked exactly how we ordered. Also tried the potato puree and the roasted vegetables which paired well with the steak. Would definitely come again to try out the rest of their menu.

The new York strip was oversalted and not representative of a good prime steak. The half chicken was fine. Outdoor seating was well heated and noise level was good. Indoor area seemed to have louder noise level.

Amalfi Llama is a great dining choice within the UTC mall. We dined on a Tuesday where the atmosphere was quiet and the staff very attentive. It may be different on a weekend night but our experience was pleasant and the food excellent.

First time there and possibly it was our last time. The place is decorated beautifully. The Service was pleasant but they did not give us menus when they sat us down. We kept looking at each other and I finally asked the hostess if they had menus. She advised us that our server would bring them to us....That's a first, especially when our server came back from break 10 minutes later! The food was not what we expected. We have been to their San Marcos Lake location many times and the food there was tasty and less expensive. Their UTC location is expensive and they do not give you enough food. A Caesar Salad is $19 and a plain Pepper and Cheese pasta $29. Their cocktails are $22 for martinis and only 3 oz glasses. The Margarita pizza was a 12-inch one on a thin crust but again, a good-looking pizza but the taste was not there. In general, they need to work on the taste and on giving more food. We do not get where the "LAMA" part of the name comes from and when we asked nobody seemed to know. They just said it's just a name.

Food and service were excellent (our table had salads, pasta, and fish). The only negative is that it is a bit noisy. We all could hear one another but it would have been a better ambience if somewhat less noisy. We definitely would return.

The atmosphere here is very comfortable - suitable for celebrations, nice dinner without feeling to fancy or uptight at all. The food was all amazing - esp the barrata cheese appetizer and the branzino (as for it to be slowly baked over salt rather than grilled).

Our first time. A bit loud, but it’s a large successfully busy restaurant. Our 4 person dinner conversation not impacted. Amazing server in Jasmine. Knowledgeable and amiable, she earns 5 stars+. Did I mention it’s a large full restaurant? She was great even though a bit over assigned. Our food choices outstanding. 2 steaks, 1 pasta. Salads, carpaccio, the eggplant starter. All fantastic. My husband and I just said independently day after…can’t wait to go back, that dinner SO good! Thx for making it worth our while to go out! Try it! It’s great!

This was my 2nd time here, this time on a Friday night. Place was very loud maybe because they had a DJ and people were trying to have conversation over the music The wait staff and service here is awesome. Drinks and cocktails are good. Short rib empanadas were dry inside they should add some cheese. The salads were great both times, I love their Pizza. This time we had the mushroom pizza, and it was really good. Probably my fav thing on the menu is the pizza. The Branzino for $48 was a huge disappointment. It was a filet of Branzino served Picatta style in a plate that is way too big. Way over priced and simple for a dish that should be served with crispy skin and some vegetables We also had the New York strip steak it was good but not great for a steakhouse. I would say they still have some work to do on the menu but so far I found the appetizers, salads, pastas and pizza are solid but this place is a steak house so their proteins should be the highlight and so far we haven’t been impressed with those.

My finance and I dined at The Amalfi Llama last night for her birthday and we had a pretty mixed overall experience. First of all let’s discuss the good - the service was exceptional. Our waiter was personable and we were checked up on quickly and often. Additionally, the ambience is also top notch. The restaurant was beautiful inside and out. Now I’m going to discuss the bad - the food, and the prices of them. My fiancé ordered a $20 cocktail and it tasted like we were drinking a bottle of perfume. She drank a couple sips and then never touched it again. We ordered the hamachi crudo - it was pretty tasty and the best thing we ate all night, even if portion size was pretty small. For dinner we shared the tomahawk steak and got the roasted vegetables and focaccia bread. With a tomahawk steak, you expect some char and when you order medium-rare, you want the steak to be pink and juicy, but the outside was over-charred, to the point where it was difficult to taste the steak, and the inside of the steak was undercooked to the point that it was cold by the time we got to the middle of the steak. We couldn’t even eat half. The vegetables were also undercooked, and the focaccia bread was good, but too heavily seasoned in our opinion. We enjoyed our time at the amalfi llama for the vibe and our excellent waiter, but we didn’t eat much of our food, and ended up stopping at in n out on the way home. After spending $360, that shouldn’t happen.
