The Allis is a public outlet located on the ground floor of Soho House Chicago set in a relaxed and welcoming social space for group dining, meetings and date nights. Serving modern European dishes drawing inspiration from British Brasseries along with classic and seasonal cocktails.

On Fridays and Saturdays from 2pm to 4.30pm, we offer an elevated afternoon tea experience. Enjoy tea and Champagne paired with pastries and savory bites. Afternoon Tea is only available to book through the experience.

The Allis Bar is named after the family that commissioned the restaurant's historic building in 1907 and also features bar and patio seating.

I think it’s was a very nice - chill type of spot. I definitely love the ambience and the atmosphere as a whole. I didn’t have any alcohol, but the starters and small plates were quite good (mint & pea croquettes and the house cured salmon) very tasty and a good blend of various herbs and spices. As for the entrees: the steelhead fillet was quite good — the combinations of the spices almost resembled a steak (wasn’t a bf fan of the beans and peas that it was served with though) and the fish and chips were quite good with the tartar sauce, just wish the fish/batter had some more flavor in it, but very large fish fillets for the dish. The wait staff was friendly and quite attentive to us. Definitely would return and explore the rest of the menu.

We did the afternoon tea and it was…meh. The decor and vibe is immaculate. Everyone who works there though seems mad at you and like they hate their life. Our table was a little dirty when we sat down. Our waitress was never on time and we spent most of our visit just waiting for her. The food was good. They sandwiches were bland but that’s pretty standard with tea sandwiches but the bread was also a bit stale which was a bummer. I don’t mind spending money on experiences like these but I don’t think this specific experience was worth what they’re charging.

We had reservations at 2pm other people showed we never got taken care of we waited over an hour while other people who just had gotten their where being seated first. Even one of the servers was pointing at us asking the host if we got taken care overall probably one of the worst experience ever

I had a reservation. They sent us to the upper area. We were the only table there. The waiter forgot about us many times, we had to chase her to pay.

Food and coffee were excellent for brunch. Service, not so much. Waitress barely came to check, didn’t put in an order and made excuses for ham and cheese sandwich taking over an hour. Blamed kitchen not the fact that she probably just forgot. Oh, also there was hair in the avocado toast. Yikes. Been there like 50 times before and used to live next door. Mostly good experience in the past. Chuck it up to a bad day and poorly trained server with a lack of conscientiousness and proper attitude. No one forced her to work there.

What an overrated horrible experience. I cannot believe the price for the high tea because it was underwhelming and disappointing. Our waitress never came to check in on us.

The ambiance is great, the staff are professional and friendly. But the high tea itself was average, not very authentic. I'm from the UK. I'd expect far more savoury snacks, like plain authentic scones with grated cheese, etc. This high tea was almost entirely sweet sugary snacks, with but a few sandwiches as the only savoury thing. Plus the 'unlimited tea' was really just the waiters refilling our teapots with more hot water but not a fresh teabag, until the 'tea refill' was weak and tepid.

Food was pretty terrible. Service took forever for example- ordered coffees, and cream/sugar didn't arrive for 10 mins at which time coffee was cold. Never refilled. Asked for syrup with pancakes, arrived after food was cold.

One of the best restaurant experiences overall I’ve had in downtown Chicago. We celebrated my boyfriends birthday and all the staff seemed alerted about it and gave us a free dessert. Definitely will be going back! 🩷😊

I’ve been to a couple afternoon teas and for what you pay, this one really isn’t worth it. The server should explain the process and what is offered. When it’s a standard service and there’s only one piece of everything offered, it should come out pretty quick if that’s the experience you’ve reserved. We sat for over an hour prior to getting any of the food items and we were not able to order more even for more cost because everything had run out. We asked for more hot water for our tea and we didn’t even get everyone’s pot refilled at the table after waiting ridiculously long for each request. It was disappointing overall

Very cute vibe. We loved the atmosphere. My sister in law, niece and I went for afternoon tea. It was a cute enough experience, a little lite on savory options, not sure worth the price of $240, plus tip. After the server left our food tray we never saw her again, not to check on us once or see if we needed anything else. It was tough to swallow the 20, 25 or 30% tip option when zero service was involved whatsoever.

I took my mom to afternoon tea here and the tea, bubbles, and snacks were really nice. The only drawback is that it’s pretty crowded, we were at a tiny two person table right in the middle of two others and it was hard to just relax and have normal conversation. The price is really quite high as well. After a 20% tip it’s $100+ per person for a small pot of tea, a glass of brut, and a few snacks. All very lovely, it just over priced in my opinion.

I'm updating this review because I tried to bring an instance of ablism to Management's attention through a private message first, but never received a response from them. Posting the message I sent to them with no response: "I wanted to bring to management’s attention a comment our server made to me that seemed to be in reference to my disability. I walk with a pronounced limp, and as our table was in the mezzanine it took me a little while to walk through the restaurant and up the steps. When I was finally seated and the server came to explain our options, she directed a comment at me implying that I would not be ordering the tea service that included champagne. No similar comment was made to my friend, and when we appeared taken aback she said she was “just looking out.” If the server had been concerned about my age she could have asked to see my ID, but she did not. And although I think it should have been fairly clear that my difficulty walking was not a result of intoxication, if that was her concern and she felt uncomfortable serving me alcohol she could have stated that and given me a chance to explain that I have a permanent disability. Although we still enjoyed our tea, the experience was slightly soured by those comments. Please encourage your employees not to make assumptions based on appearance, the way someone walks, or anything else!" Initial review: I took my friend to SoHo House for high tea for her birthday. The tea and finger foods were delicious, the service was ok, not incredible. It was fairly slow overall even though the restaurant was not crowded, and we sat for about 45 minutes waiting for our check, but I suspect that was the result of a miscommunication during a shift change.

all the tea items were super sweet. when we asked for more tea we were merely given more hot water, which doesn't make more tea if you steeped properly the first time. it was exceedingly loud and they seemed way understaffed. the valet was alone.

We had a lovely time! You pick your tea flavor and everyone gets 3 finger sandwiches and 6 small desserts. It was a beautiful restaurant and our waitress was very kind. I definitely would come back for tea!

It took 24min for the server to show at our table we understand it can be busy for one person but 24 min for her to even acknowledge us or let us know she'll be with us is not good service or value for what we are paying for.

Last night I had a reservation at 5:30pm for two people. I had never been to The Allis-SoHo House before. I walked in and thought, "Wow, this is really pretty." And then the experience went south. I was completely ignored for 15 minutes just trying to check in for our reservation. Finally got seated. And then was completely ignored for another 15 minutes by the server. When she did stop by, it was obvious that she did NOT want to be there. Or serve me. Maybe she was having a rough day. When a place is beautiful and trendy, but the service is crap, I'll not return. It's not like there aren't any other elevated options in Chicago for a brief happy hour meeting.

I’m not one to write such a negative review but I feel like people should know the reviews for this place are accurate. The best part is the ambiance. The coffee was pretty good but took 20 minutes to come out. Food was alright. My friends got the pancakes and they said they were pretty good. I got a basic eggs & bacon dish (for $17??? Lol) the bacon was good (kinda hard to mess up) but the eggs were watery and despite appearing to have seasoning, tasted very bland. The service was disappointing. Both the host and waiter were rude. Our food took over an hour to come out (I think our waiter forgot to put it in). The table behind us arrived, got their food, ate, and left before we got ours. They did apologize with cookies but the waiter blamed the delay on the kitchen being behind (even though everyone around us got their food no problem). We chose not to complain having all worked in the food industry at some point but I think it’s fair to caution other people to not go here unless you have unlimited time to spend.

Totally not worth it for the price. For one person, 7 bite size finger foods, a glass of bubbles, and tea is $100 with tax and tip. However we knew going into it that it would be $$$… just thought that the amount of food and type of finger food would be better.
