This was such a nice surprise! Close to all the broadway theaters, but without the touristy feel. You could easily walk right by the entrance, but don't! The ambience was fantastic, quiet, intimate, but with enough action to feel like you are part of the scene. The staff were super friendly and attentive. But most of all, the food was delicious! My husband had an amazing pork chop--thick, juicy, and so perfectly seasoned that it was a meal unto itself. I had a burger, that equally delicious. Typically I would spit my entree with my husband, but this time I wanted every bite to myself! And, the dessert--- sooo good. A ginger ice cream with some sort of hard chocolate shell coating it, raspberry sauce and raspberries. And cost of the meal, plus two glasses of wine was so reasonably priced. I would recommend the Alderman.

As I write this review of Alderman, I realize that I can’t just write about the food, but I have to write about the whole experience. Because that’s what Alderman is, it’s an experience. From the food and drinks, to the service, to the ambiance, this place is a hidden gem in Time Square. I’ll start with the food and drinks. I began the night at the bar with an Espresso Martini, and it was so good that I stuck with it all night. My friends got other drinks and everyone was happy with what they had. During dinner, two of my friends had wine, which the server was eager to suggest, and they were very happy with the choice. To begin our meal we had the bread basket. This is homemade bread and homemade butter, and both were delicious. There was also oil to dip the bread in, which gave all of us a choice of what we would enjoy most. We also shared the Crispy Mushrooms and Fried Sunchokes. Both were really tasty. The Sunchokes themselves literally made the trip worthwhile. We shared main courses and they were all really, really good. The Duck and the Trout were so yummy, and perfectly cooked. We also shared dessert, a pudding and a pastry, and they were an excellent ending to a wonderful meal. Now, for the service, I could not have asked for anything more. The staff was attentive and friendly. They really made us feel like they were happy we were there, and that they were happy to serve us. Finally, the ambiance. I really enjoyed the quiet, understated elegance of the restaurant. I felt comfortable while feeling like I was in a high end establishment. It was perfect. I had a great time at Alderman, from start to finish, therefore I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant.

From the moment I was greeted by the host at Alderman, until I headed out, I had an enchanting experience. This restaurant offers something for everyone. The design demonstrates the thought and care that went in to creating a one of a kind night. The staff always had a smile on their faces and they were continually there to assist me with my needs. Our waitress Mia was exceptional. I was there with friends and for the table we started off with the Bread & Butter, Fried Sunchokes and Crispy Mushrooms. I cannot tell you which was my favorite because they all were absolutely delicious. For the entree course, we shared the Pan Roasted Steelhead Trout, the Stinging Nettles Dumplings, and the Roast Normandy Duck, all prepared to perfection. Their cocktail menu is both creative and unique. I had a Martini, and the Strawberry Old Fashioned, both phenonomal, while my friends had wine. To round out our evening we shared a couple of their desserts, which really were the icing on the cake (pun intended). I can’t wait to go back so I can try more. There is no doubt that Alderman is now my restaurant of choice.

Couldn’t believe how good this was given the proximity to Times Square. The food was delicious. There was a good pre-theater menu very reasonable for midtown!

Limited and weird menu. Trying too hard to be cutting edge in a hotel that caters to the 5 dollar hamburger crowd (ours was 24). Everything else including a bread and butter service for 14 bucks, was not appealing. Very sparse when we arrive pre-show and not half full when we left for the theatre. Service was good. The windowless space was fine. The burgers were good. I love expensive dining and will happily pay 100 bucks for a great steak but this place ain’t that.
