The theme is done well. Servers and staff were all very nice. The food lacked seasoning and the flat iron steak was over done. The server handled everything very well and understood that we needed to get to an event.

Not enough staff. Meal came before the drinks came. There were just a few people there so no excuse for delay. Food was good but I won’t be back.

Lovely restaurant and a new menu. Not thrilled with service and food was interesting. The bison meatloaf bites were our favorite. The avocado chop was more greens than chicken. The caesar salad was a curious kind of greens, maybe a new kind of Romaine? We weren't sure. Interestingly it comes with whole leaves and needs to be completely cut up to be able to eat. Our group felt like the chef is trying to do too much? The dessert was misrepresented, so a hard copy menu is needed. The wait staff seemed unsure of how to serve a table. Reaching across people and somewhat dismissive in the way they brought the food. The food came to the table in a less than timely manner. Not sure that our group would return. Two of us had been here a few weeks ago and enjoyed it. Could be an off night?

What a great find!!! Really cool that they converted the old Emily Griffith school into a hotel and this restaurant was really fun! Loved the themed drinks that are named after crayon colors and the menu that looks like a composition notebook! Great service, yummy food and it was not super loud so easy to converse. They take reservations which is always a plus! We will be back!!

Katie was the best server! Everyone was so kind and welcoming. It was a quiet night in there, so we probably didn't need a reservation. The cocktails were delightful, the food was incredible, and the service was top notch. We tried the shepherds pie bites, the cornbread, the burger, and the fried chicken sandwich. All were delicious and we'll definitely be back.

The Tacos were very poor - an old school hotel restaurant, reheated food. Nice staff were severely over stretched. Give it a miss

I was excited to bring my out of town guests here for dinner before a show at the Buell Theater, but I walked out of the experience embarrassed and apologetic to my friends. The service was extremely slow. We had been seated for 15 minutes and nobody had come by our table. We had to ask to find a waiter/waitress 3 times before anyone came to take our drink orders. The food took really long to arrive. Half of our table was served 5 minutes before the other half was served any food, and the appetizer came out last. The food was just ok, nothing to write home about. Every time I asked a question of the staff, they gave me a snide answer and still ignored my request. When I originally made the reservation, the person told me to use the hotel valet since it's much cheaper with the restaurant validation than other parking in the area. The hostess stand has a sticker on it that details the discount, but nobody was able to give us a validation or confirm how much the valet would cost. The staff was belittling to us when we asked how the valet worked (meaning how to get the validation). The front desk person literally said, "It's not rocket science. Just go to the valet stand". Nice. This was after he scowled at the people he "helped" before us. The valet guy ignored us when we went to the stand and went inside the hotel to do who-knows-what. He eventually came back, but he charged us full price. At that point, we just wanted to get out of there. The staff was rude and argumentative at the restaurant, the hotel front desk and at the valet stand. I felt like I was in the twilight zone. I told the front desk person that the entire staff seemed off and that they didn't need to be rude to everyone. He told me to write a letter, so here it is. I 100% DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.

Our whole restaurant week experience was a dud. Took 25 min to be seated. There was two bartenders and barely any people at the bar and it took them 20 min to make our drinks. Chicken was undercooked so they comped those but the fried green tomatoes and one of our desserts came out cold. Took 2 1/2 hours for three course meal. The server felt bad that everything was a fail. Teacher’s Lounge gets a D- grade.

Our poor server was alone on shift (3/8/24) and did her valiant best to cover the entire room, including a 10-12 top table of entitled diners. I am afraid some guests were not very nice to said waitress for circumstances beyond her control. Delicious prix fix meal for restaurant week! Teachers' Lounge is certainly 5 out of 5 stars when fully staffed.

Everything took a really long time.Waitress was very apologetic but super slow service. Meals took 30 minutes. Our entree salads had hardly any toppings on it.

We are working our way through the menu at the Teacher's Lounge and would like to bring the Shepherd's Pie Fritters to your attention. They are rich and savory and crunchy and sinful! I ordered the Three Beet Salad with Flatiron Steak and about halfway through, realized there were no beets! In spite of that, the salad, with berries, lots of wonderful greens, pepitas and sunflower seeds, was delicious and the flatiron steak some of the best I've tasted. Because of restaurant week, there was a little confusion in the kitchen. I'll have the beets next time. Their cocktails are also really good!

I enjoyed the experience. We were pleasantly surprised at the changes at Emily Griffith. Lovely venue. The restaurant week menu was good. The chicken was felt to be a bit over cooked. The risotto was delicious. The fried green tomatoes were just perfect and the tossed salad was very tasty. Loved the PB&J; it was outrageous. What an excellent surprise.

Our server was great. She was doing her best. They only had one server scheduled to serve the entire restaurant on a Sunday night during peak dinner hours. Food and drinks took way longer to get to us than they probably should have. Again, our server was doing her best, but management needs to do a better job at making sure they have enough people available. The food was good, though the sauces kind of overwhelmed the mains. We went for restaurant week, so I can't comment on what their usual prices are. I was hoping somewhere called the Teachers' Lounge would embrace the theme more than just for the menus, but the atmosphere is nice, if not necessarily what I was expecting.

We ate here for Restaurant week and won’t be back. Waited 20 minutes for water. Food was not good. Service was horrible. It wasn’t even busy so there should be no excuse.

Went during Denver Restaurant week - Their package was $35 for 3 courses which was a great value. This is fine dining - very good food and very creative. Be aware that this is the hotel restaurant for the Hilton (called the Slate Hotel) on the old Emily Griffith campus directly across from the convention center. The restaurant is connected to the bar and basically a part of it, and opens onto a hotel hallway so does not feel like a normal restaurant.

Tried Teacher's Lounge for the first time and was really impressed! The food was delicious, and the ambiance was amazing. They did such a great job with the decor! We really appreciated the exceptional service from Cole and the rest of the staff. Will definitely be back! We were able to find metered parking in front, but some members of our party parked in garages around the restaurant that were very pricey, so be aware. They do have valet parking, which was reasonably priced.

The good: 1. We had a large group of 11. Teacher's lounge had a great table for us to sit at and we were seated immediately. 2. Our server, Katie was an absolute gem. She had almost the entire restaurant to handle and she never lost sight of us or let us feel unattended. 3. The drinks were AMAZING. Generous pours and great flavor profiles. Make sure to try the Fuzzy Wuzzy. Silly name, great drink. 4. The bison meatloaf bites. Crispy, light, and flavorful. Not to be missed. The not so good: 1. Dinner took nearly 4 hours because the kitchen seemed very disorganized. Drinks were also slow and a few times we ended up going directly to the bar. 2. Cold food-this was probably the biggest issue. We ordered pork chili fries and received 3 orders (we only ordered 2). They came out at different times and they were stone cold. Not cool. COLD. 1/2 of our table received piping hot food and 1/2 (including me) received cold food. Katie took them off the ticket and reserved us hot food but it was a big disappointment. With the number of dishes they reserved, I was frankly a little surprised someone in management or the kitchen didn't check in on us. That said, Katie was wonderful. I would love to go back and I'm hopeful these are glitches from a busy evening but the food killed an otherwise great evening.

Do not go to Teacher's Lounge before a show - only go here if you have a lot of time to kill. We had a 5 p.m. reservation and needed to be at a show at 7, and it took 35 minutes to get our drinks and 45 minutes to place our food order. We waited for the food for an 1 hour and 10 minutes. After 30 minutes, I asked the waitress about the status of our food. They returned 15 minutes later and said it would be "right out." Some time later, another staff member came over and we asked for our checks (not having received food yet - we wanted the check so we could pay and be ready to go). We never received the checks. After some time, I informed another staff member we had to leave in the next 10 minutes. The manager then came to speak to us and stated our food would be free, which was a nice gesture. We finally received the food and had 5 minutes to eat before running to the show. The food was amazing (I had the burger) and honestly if you had a few hours to kill, this would be the place. Don't come here before a show, though - we thought we would have to leave without eating. We would have appreciated a warning from the staff that the kitchen was running behind and it would be more than an hour to get our food, so we could have grabbed a sandwich somewhere else.

Didn't even know that The Teacher's Lounge was in the former Emily Griffith building, great to see it reused this way. Food was good, though portions were a little uneven. Staff were all great and worked together on our service. Wine pour was short - about 4 oz for $13? Cocktails were very good, but with one bartender, the prep time resulted in a wait, not only for us, but for other tables ordering drinks as well. Good location, will come back. Maybe put in a happy hour to get more locals in?

Waited 5 minutes before being acknowledged at hostess stand; waited 10 minutes before server came to the table, then waited 45 minutes after our order for food to arrive. Had to remind another employee who brought out food to bring the drink I ordered when I ordered my entre. Food was cold and small portions. Would not go back, and would not recommend.

Delicious Valentines Day special. The porterhouse steak was one of the best we’ve had. Great value for 3 courses and a glass of champagne. We went after V-day and it was amazing it was quiet enough to hear each other. Looks like they have good options for Restaurant Week. Only negative is the location of the restrooms- down stairs from the restaurant.

Great food, all dishes were good sized for the price. Drinks had good flavors, and there were interesting cocktails on the menu. However, the service was slow. We were seated at 5:15 right at our reservation time. Took a few minutes for the server to stop by and take our drink/appetizer order. We had to ask for water. And then several minutes later, ask for for our cocktails. At this point there were several tables filled, but no more than 1/4 of the restaurant. It just didn't get any better, everything took forever. Finally at 6:50 we told her to cancel the dishes that hadn't arrived, and to bring the check. We didn't get out of there until 7:10. Ambiance was good, food/drinks were good, service was pleasant and they did not charge us for the last 2 dishes. But never again. Just couldn't overcome the slow service.

We needed a place that was close to the Bellco Theatre so the location was good. Service was a bit delayed, as I believe our server, maybe had more tables than she had time to really take care of. Our food came out before we got our wine, and we had to flag down our waitress in order to be able to get our bottle of wine opened in time to be able to enjoy with the food. But the food was good, and the pricing was fair.

The food was decent. The speciality cocktail I had was exceptional! The service was polite and friendly but a bit slow. The atmosphere is cool being in a former school that also is a hotel. Prices were better than average so the value was great. I’d like to try more of their cocktails as that seemed to be unique and exceptional with the one I had. I’ll visit again and try to sample more of those.

Had the Valentines Day Special menu. AMAZING! Tenderloin was cooked to perfection and the dessert was almost to pretty to eat. SO YUMMY. We had a great evening. Very romantic.
