We enjoyed our dinner and the pleasant outdoor ambience. The short rib was delicious, pork chop was so-so and Caesar salad was fresh and delicious- just needed salt and pepper. The flourless chocolate cake was outstanding! Thank you for good service too. We made it to the 6:30pm show in time after a 5pm arrival.

The concept at Abernathys is great - rotating chefs with a different menu every couple months. However the several times I’ve been, it’s always been disorganized and slow service. We had a show at 730, and got there early at 545. No one came for our orders until 15 min later, and our drinks didn’t come out until after our appetizer was served which was another 20 min later. Our entrees all came out at different times. The service is friendly and everyone was nice, it just all feels really disorganized. The food was fine. So overall the experience was 3 stars - good. I think they could be a lot better with some tightening up.

Have eaten here many times before, this night they were understaffed, kitchen took very long and crab appetizer had turned bad. I do love this restaurant but it has become very popular and some areas seem to be suffering attention.

We love eating here. The food is always great and the servers are always fantastic. This time, we were disappointed at how incredibly slow the kitchen was. We arrived for dinner at 5:45 but our entree didn’t come out until almost 7:00. It was at least 35 minutes between appetizer and entree. So the kitchen had some issues to work out this time. However, the food was all delicious and we love the seasonal changes of chefs and menus.

It was a lovely evening on the plaza, which made a great night for outdoor seating. The crab cakes and catfish were delicious, while the collard greens were a bit salty. Overall, it was a lovely meal prior to our show.

Restaurant had problems with the kitchen and was cooking food outside in Schafer dishes Their service usually is much better

Service is horrible - 1 Entree was served without the other - had to wait additional 15 minutes and then send the entree back. Very disappointed in Abernathy's. They ran out of deserts at 6:30 p.m. I wont return.

Delicious Caesar salad and deviled eggs. I love that they are one of the few restaurants that serve Sipsmith Gin!!🍸

Our favorite place to eat when we go to the Opera. We have enjoyed all the different chef’s there, and this one’s terrific. Our server was very attentive and delightful. She even offered to exchange my cocktail, which was very kind of the restaurant. The comfort food was flavorful with generous portions. We split the Caesar salad, which by itself could have been someone’s main course. My partner loved his salmon and I got their Bayou inspired shrimp, clam and sausage stew . We finished with apple cobbler . We also love the atmosphere. Sitting surrounded by the large Music Center’s pavilion with newly laid summer grass and the summer concerts setting up is a way to feel even more part of everything.

Went to Abernethy's before attending the Opera tonight and was very disappointed. Our reservation was for 6pm and didn't get seated till 620 (not usually a problem however our Opera started at 730). While we were waiting to get seated we noticed many tables that had nobody sitting at them however there was no one working on cleaning the tables. Dishes and glasses everywhere. After we got seated we figured out there were only 3 servers for the whole restaurant. Our server had at least 10 tables to take care of. The manager was walking around and asked us if everything was OK and well I told him it was not. He told me most of the staff was sick LOL. We finally ordered and got our food not too long after . Wife was OK with her salmon however my fisherman stew was very spicy and just not good. The Dirty rice that the server recommended was also way too spicy. My rating of 2 stars is very generous considering the overall experience. I highly recommend avoiding this place until management can figure out how to keep enough staff on hand....
