Taverna is a restaurant utilizing authentic Italian flavors to create memorable dishes. This restaurant is designed from the ground up to be a neighborhood bistro. Taverna is meant to be the kind of restaurant that guests can bring their family for either a casual meal or to celebrate special occasions. While the inside of the restaurant is cozy, the best place to enjoy the great food is out on the wraparound patio.Taverna is open for lunch and dinner, as well as brunch on the weekends. During lunch and dinner service, guests will find a large variety of menu items available. Pasta, soups, salads and pizza are all popular choices. Taverna is also known for their risotto, as an entire section of the menu is devoted to the "risotteria". The signature risotto topped with a simple blend of parmesan cheese and black truffle cream sauce.

First time at Taverna for the three of us and we unanimously agreed it won’t be our last. The food was excellent, tagatlle bolognese, lasagna bolognese and the swordfish were our three mains. All were delicious. We also ordered two salads, the rocola and the Caesar, also excellent. Our waiter was great, attentive and helpful and at the end of the meal the manager came to our table and asked if everything was to out satisfaction, it was, and thanked us for coming. Highly recommend.

Our experience was so disappointing. We will never go back to this restaurant. Our waiter had a great personality and was as attentive as he could be, but he seemed overwhelmed and unable to keep up with the demands of any of his tables. The women’s restroom was so dirty and trashcan was overflowing with hand towels and surrounded on the floor with used paper towels. The food was both expensive and not good. There are so many great options in Austin for Italian and I don’t know why you would go to this place. What we were served could’ve been from any chain restaurant anywhere in America. I was really surprised by the lack of flavor and presentation. I do know that this is a chain restaurant, but they need to up their game. Really felt like a waste of money. We are a family of five and used to spending a fair amount to feed our group, but $300 for a dinner where no one enjoyed their meal just doesn’t seem right.

We loved the food, service and the portion sizes. Our server gave us great attention and was very timely in taking care of us. Great location in downtown!

Nice lively pretty dining room. Food was good. After our food was delivered, server never came back to check if we had everything we needed so no fresh parmesan for our pasta! Would probably go back but eat at bar.

Branzino was inedible and the other items we ordered (salad, gnocchi and a burger) were only marginally better. Definitely skip this place.

Early dinner before a show. Not super-crowded, excellent focaccia and salads, good drinks, attentive waiter. We’ll go back.

Visit Taverna with a friend for lunch. Service was pleasant so was the food. It is a bit pricey, but excellent spot to bring out of towners for a casual lunch.

The food was excellent - and appeared to be timely. Our service was not up to the par we’ve previously experienced. We were on the patio and there was ongoing confusions and delays thought out our dinner. We will be back but probably return to sitting at the bar.

They were busy but the service was very slow. This was surprising for a Sunday evening. We ordered dessert and it had not arrived after 20 minutes so we canceled it. Our total dining time was over 2 hours, when the reservation designated that we were allotted 1.5 hours.

The hospitality was great. Our server greeted us with a friendly smile. He was kind and very tentative we never had to wait on him. The food was delicious the Caesar salad was large enough for 2 servings and so was the margarita pizza that we added prosciutto to. We even trended ourself to dessert that was fantastic highly recommend the chocolate cake!

We got seated but service took forever. We requested lemons for our waters and a new water glass since a gnat fell in it. But these request took 35-40 mins and multiple re-requests. Watching around at other tables, and it was slow service for everyone as well. Super loud in there while the food was not worth the price.

Lovely experience on a very, very busy Saturday night. We were initially seated outside and they were kind enough to move us inside to the “lounge” area when I asked for something inside. Meal was wonderful as was the service.

Our food and server were both outstanding! Unfortunately the greeting by the hostess was not. I reached out on both open table and by phone to make sure they saw my note that we would have someone joining us in a wheelchair and to please have an accessible table reserved for us. Once we arrived I was told that we could not be seated at closer tables that were easier to get to, but stuck in the back where it was difficult space to get the chair through the restaurant. It was quite frustrating to be told, well you can't sit there, at an empty table. But food was good and waitress was very kind.

The food was good and a good value. It’s things like the ripped up bench seat in the dining room and wet seat in the ladies room that make me plan to not go back.

Everything was delicious and beautifully plated. There were so many options we wanted to try we decided to change our reservation at another restaurant for tonight so we can dine again at Taverna and try them. We have traveled in Italy and have an Italian neighborhood in our city. The dishes here are authentic. Wonderful service too.

Went for a birthday the service was amazing the nice man that waited on us could not have done a better job from the recommendations to how he handled the birthday cake and deserts for us. It was definitely a good time! We will be coming back!

Made a 6:30 reservation for Tuesday night. Told the waiter we were seeing a show at 8pm at ACL Live next door. Drinks, apps, salad and main course orders were put in. At 7:45 pm, we had not received main course. Finally canceled the main course at 7:55 pm so we could make it across the street for the show. We waited about 35 minutes after the salad before canceling the dinners. Were met with a lot of disdain even though we were sitting at the table for a full 1.5 hours. Meals were making their way out when we left the restaurant...they looked pretty good. Went to bed hungry. As an aside, this was the only place in 5 blocks with open reservations before a big show at ACL - should have been a hint.

They were going to see us at a table where the chair was mangled and ripped. Asked for a different table. They got us one. The service was very, very, very slow and we told him we’re going to a show. Lacking overall.

We reserved a table in the Baci Room, which turned out to be perfect for us. It wasn't nearly as loud as the remainder of the restaurant. The vibe was more loungelike. The service was excellent. We had the meatballs (5 stars), the chopped salad (5 stars), the bruschetta (5 stars), and the tonarelli cacio e pepe, which was pretty flavorless. Overall, the evening was lovely. I just wouldn't order that pasta dish again. In the ladies bathroom, the combination of the faucet design and the angle of the sink are not compatible. The water comes out very powerfully, overflows the front of the sink and jets toward the person washing their hands. If you aren't quick on your feet, you could end up getting soaked.
