At Tantra we want to change peoples perceptions of Indian cuisine. Our food will provide a multi-sensory experience involving appearance, texture, flavours, aroma all of equal importance.

We aim to take traditional Indian cuisine into another dimension - by taking inspirations from from renowned international cuisines and using modern techniques such as molecular gastronomy and deconstruction of dishes. We ensure that the soul of the food is Indian in flavour - but the execution and presentation will be mystical and magical in every aspect, just like the name "Tantra".

    It was brilliant, we had a mix of the small plates to try different things. There was things with dry ice, test tubes with sauces and a really broad range of options (sea food, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options too). Also cocktails and Mocktails so options if you aren't drinking were good too.

    Nice food but small portions and very expensive. It’s a more modern Indian restaurant so not your typical fare, more of a fusion type vibe. Half of us thought it was really lovely and half thought was just good. Service was a bit forgetful, had to ask a few times for things like sauces or ice but overall it was nice with great cocktails, but again at £13-£15 they were pricey. Still we enjoyed it.

    Excellent food. Poor service (waited 10 mins to be seated even although we had booked at arrived at the time of our booking). Loads of uncleared tables. Bizarre decoration, a cross between an 80s disco and warehouse industrial chic. Pleasant staff but poor atmosphere.

    The only thing I would like to empathise on is service and I would say nothing wrong with the staff , understaff which was making us wait if we needed to request for something. Food as well was taking too long to come as well.

    Food was nice. Very overpriced as nothing seemed any better than just any other standard Indian restaurant. Certainly nothing about this place made me want to rush back, but some decent food none the less. £11 for a glass of wine though, you can buy two bottles out of Tesco on the way home for the same money :-)

    When we first came here it had a different feel to it. Fancy Indian fusion. Unfortunately it's sad to have seen Tantra go downhill. Service is extremely poor in every way. Staff don't know the menu. There is no service with a smile or politeness which certain members seem to completely lack. All this unfortunately let's the food down. Tantra have also change the menu since our last few times, which I can understand in restaurants, but this has taken away the elegance and the feeling of being somewhere special that it used to have. Service staff definitely needs looked into and because of this main reason, unfortunately we won't be back. :(

    The food was so different and tasted amazing, definitely not your average Indian cuisine. The staff were charming. Our Waitress was very patient and went out of her way for us, nothing was too much trouble. We really enjoyed the experience and would have returned but unfortunately are visit to Edinburgh had come to an end. Thank you so much Tantra for a excellent evening and amazing food.

    Small menu compared to other Indian restaurants but food was fresh and alot of attention to detail. Server's were a bit slow to offer drinks/water top ups etc but it didn't affect our meal. Would definitely recommend and go again.
