October 16, 1909-For the first time in their country’s history, American President William H. Taft and Mexican President Porfirio Díaz met for a summit in the El Paso-Juarez border; the land commonly known as El Chamizal. Flags were lowered and the borderland remained neutral territory.

A traditional, conservative luncheon was hosted by President Taft at the El Paso Chamber of Commerce followed by an opulent dinner served and presented by President Díaz in the Old Federal Customs building in Juarez. Private discussions were had and agreements were made.

TAFT DÍAZ serves as a testament that great things can flourish when you welcome others at your table.

The service is great! I love how the waiter was very friendly and explained the menu. The portions are small which isn’t filling. This was not a problem just not expected. The restaurant is beautiful and the bar is real nice.

La verdad éramos los únicos en el restaurant , el servicio descuidado y lento , la comida muy variable platillos malos como la ensalada César algunos regulares como la tostada de Hamschi y el pato parecía horneado al vapor , por mi parte mala experiencia y no recomendable ! Tienen una buena carta de vinos pero las personas del servicio realmente no pienso que los puedan manejar!

Another fantastic meal at Taft Diaz. Ribeye steak was done to perfection, the bone marrow appetizer was exceptional, and a new one for us was the Lobster Spaghetti. Delicious! And as always the bar and wait staff were superb and very accommodating. Excellent meal to show my brother in law one of the best restaurants in El Paso!

I went to this restaurant with high hopes but left disappointed. The prices were steep considering the lackluster flavors and uninspired combinations. The dry aged stake was great, but the combination with French fries left me confused and caught somewhere between a premium restaurant and a burger joint. My wife's pasta was so salty it was inedible, and we had to send it back. The only saving grace was the attentive and kind wait staff. Overall, it was not worth the price, and we won't be returning for our next dinner date. I wouldn't recommend this place.

Taft Diaz is what El Paso was missing. An upscale restaurant with great service. The servers take pride in their service by describing your meal, giving recommendations, checking in, and helping the customer enjoy themselves. The food is excellent- my favorite is the corn soup. The decor is fantastic. They have descending lights and a view of the kitchen where chef’s prepare.

If you want to have a special meal in El Paso, this is one of the places to go. It's pricey but the food is a higher quality than most places in town.

This was a delicious dinner for my husband’s birthday. The food was absolutely delicious and our server Luis Felipe was on point all night with excellent wine recommendations to pair with our entrees. His knowledge of wine was very helpful in our selection of a bottle. My husband had a Ribeye and said “it’s the best steak I’ve had in my life” and I had the truffle duck and it was delightful with farro underneath the duck breast that was a flavorful accompaniment to the flavor profile of the duck. The whipped potatoes with my husband’s steak were surprising in their richness and they melted in our mouths. Truly a wonderful experience and we will definitely dine there again!

Very nice location in downtown El Paso. The restaurant was very clean and modern. The dinner menu had a variety of choices and the food was excellent. The drink and dessert menu wasn't available online. I recommend the Pomegranate Paloma. Bathrooms were a little out of the way but very clean. The service was fantastic. We would definitely eat there again.

This is a beautiful site with views of the kitchen and very cool lighting effects. The food was very good, flavorful and well thought out. We were able to pair our meal with great wines.

Luis was an amazing server. The burrata appetizer was delicious as was the chocolate dome dessert. The black cod was very good, but I did not like the cream sauce on it. The corn and truffle soup was very tasty but just a bit heavy for my tastes. Every person I encountered from the valet to the hostess was extremely friendly, pleasant, and helpful. I highly recommend this place.

We had high expectations about this place but were very disappointed with our fish dishes. For $50/plate we got some of the least appetizing Cod we have ever eaten.

Overpriced, mediocre food served by careless staff, I found a piece of metal in my scallops when i told my waiter he just replied “no problem as he took the plate” no apology, no visit from the manager.

Delicious food and awesome ambiance. Restaurant was upscale but very comfortable. We were seated next to the kitchen and loved watching the kitchen and serving staff and watching all the beautiful food come out as we enjoyed our wine.

Was told my waitstaff that the restaurant closed at 2pm and that she didn’t know why the open table allows for reservations until 2pm. She said they’d honor the breakfast menu. I cancelled reservation and went somewhere else.

Food was good, not great but good. It was extremely small portions. The octopus appetizer was mostly potatoes, for 24 bucks, expected a little more octopus. Duck entree was good, again, very small portions. Wife's lobster spaghetti was decent. Deserts were good, serving size was probably bigger than entrees. Not sure if I will recommend without advising about portions and price. As a retired Chef. I am well aware of food cost. Prep time, etc that is involved, but for the price, you can offer a bit more. Presentation was spot on. Service was top notch.

The food flavors were outstanding. If you want to drink water, you had better get bottled water as the tap water is not very good compared to elsewhere in the USA.

They paid attention to all the details & use French cooking techniques making the dishes harmonious. The lobby & restaurant and modern, small but quaint. Great way to celebrate my husband’s birthday.

Great restaurant. Lighting was odd, with chandeliers flashing on and off and going up and down. I’m not a fan, but others may love the effect.

Food was very good. Restaurant is good looking. Waiter was a bit pushy on getting us to order when we were the only people in the restaurant and seemed disappointed that we did not order alcoholic beverages. I would return.

29rh wedding anniversary and it was excellent! New menu items of lobster spaghetti for me, and a duck breast dish for the Mrs. Both were excellent. Oscar the server was considerate and polished. We wanted for nothing. The horchata coffee cake with cinnamon ice cream was a delightful desert. Excellent meal, service, and atmosphere for our anniversary in El Paso.

Ambiance, great service and attention to detail all contributes to a great dinner experience. Our server Desiree was an absolute pleasure. We had outstanding cocktails and mains - the cod was the best I have ever had! We ordered 2 appetizers however (bone marrow & octopus) that were really underwhelming... flavors were great but the portions were surprisingly tiny... almost no marrow on the bones. We really enjoyed the modern art collection and the floating lights... Would come definitely return on next visit to ElPaso!

Every person who met us or helped us was extremely friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed the atmosphere. You must try the Mexican Butter! It was out favorite food that night. I cannot say enough about the service. Thank you so much for the wonderful night!
