Symposia is a Mediterranean-inspired fine dining restaurant, located within the Atheneum Suite Hotel, minutes away from all major concert and event venues. We offer complimentary valet parking for dinner guests and a shuttle to major events.

Symposia highlights the Mediterranean region inspired by Greece, Italy, Spain and more. Signature dishes include Roasted Beet with whipped feta, pickled strawberry, green harissa; Spanish octopus with Romesco, Yukon potato, and Chorizo Iberico; Australian Lamb Chop; Amish Half Bird, with harissa, crème fraiche and an olive oil cake with pistachio, orange, honey-whipped Greek yogurt.

The space evokes a Mediterranean landscape with pops of white and sea blue alongside materials like stone and wood. Symposiums of ancient times were used as a space to gather, drink, and dine in celebration. In that same spirit, Symposia provides a welcoming atmosphere for family and friends to gather while savoring our unique cuisine.

Unbelievability refined dining in Downtown Detroit. A true hidden gem that is a shining star. First class service, with even better cuisine!

Overall a good experience. Octopus appetizer was delicious as were the scallops as an entree. Unfortunately, the lamb chops did not live up to the rave reviews of our server. One of the four were cooked to a medium rare temperature as requested. Others were medium well, no pink center whatsoever. Service started off great. Very attentive and pleasant. Once entrees were served, we did not see the waiter again until dishes had been cleared. Would definitely try again, but would likely pick another entree selection.

Great experience, first visit! Staff was excellent! Food was well presented and very tasty! We will be back for other special occasions!

Fruit fly in memosa, service was decent. Food average, auto 20% tip for party of four for a buffet is rediculous, they only bring drinks.

Main course was cold when it was brought out. Our waiter forgot the salad, too busy to take a picture, very nice but very frazzled. Kind of ruined our experience. Decaf was not fresh super bitter. Martini was basically at room temperature, not cold. Overall for the money we paid was not worth the value. Automatic gratuity was added on and NOT worth it.

Dined with a larger party still received superb service, wonderful food and love the ambience. Would recommend for a special couples evening or outing with friends. also, love the fact that they validate valet parking at the hotel! No looking for parking in the city!

Sent steak back three times due to improper cooking temps. 3 times! That’s ridiculous. The excuse was they don’t use a thermometer and instead infrared control it. What!? 20% auto gratuity was applied for party of 5 when receipt clearly says they only implement this for parties of 6 and greater. Ordered additional carry out on separate check and 20% gratuity was also applied. When questioned why, the server acted frazzled and said it was an automatic thing but then said it was his fault and he would fix it. Food is wayyyy too expensive for what you’re getting. Filet was the cheapest thing on the menu. Although the restaurant is beautiful, all this put a sour taste in our mouths. Will not be returning.
