Service was severely lacking, especially for the price tag of the food. Slow to clear off the table but also cleared off the water glasses (they were not dirty), and infrequent check-ins. Otherwise, the sushi is great and the fish quality is excellent. Good music - 90s hip hop - and spacious seating also add to the ambiance! Would dine in again.

Wow, this place was absolutely amazing. We sat at the counter and had plenty of space to eat. The bar staff made excellent recommendations and every dish was so fresh and tasty. Would highly recommend making a reservation here.

Sushi-San is a great spot in River-North if you are looking for a memorable, lively dining experience. The service was great, and I would definitely recommend the Beef N' Bop, Spicy Tuna Aburi, and Side of Sushi Rice dishes for food. Members of my party also enjoyed the Yuzu Margarita and Thank You, Enjoy #4 cocktails. Excellent, Sushi-San!

Outstanding sushi. Terrific appetizers. The desserts were also surprisingly good. The service was excellent. The noise level is a bit high but it’s a fun place.

Everything we had was exceptional! The sticky rice was the best I’ve ever had. The sushi was so fresh and melted in my mouth. Great mocktails if you don’t drink. Was very busy on a Wednesday night so it must be a popular spot which says a lot.

This place was vibey! Not what we were expecting, but it was great! Very popular place and I can see why! Every plate was delicious and not too filling. I’m gluten free and it was easy to eat most anything on the menu. We had the spicy tuna, yuzu albacore, cauliflower, Sam salad, and short rib and I’m not sure I could pick a favorite! For dessert they brought use a couple sea salt dark chocolate truffles, and wow was that the perfect ending! Not too filling and very delicious. I highly recommend!

Food is always delish. Service started out great, and then we were ignored for the last hour. Had issues getting the check. They acknowledged our birthday celebration at check in, but did not carry the message through to the waitress. Food was delish.

Food, especially the sushi, was average. It was popular and packed and even with reservation, one had to wait. The hosts were nice and courteous. I can see why people like this place - nice vibe and food not bad (just not that great).

Waiter was awful. Checked on us twice in 2 hours. Didn’t get to put in drinks before happy hour ended and someone else needed to close us out. Didn’t end up eating dinner because the service was too slow

We had the absolute pleasure of dining at Sushi San. Kate, our server, was one of the best ever!… she was so patient, kind and engaging. I would absolutely request her station next time. Definitely, all of the food was amazing..especially for the price point….I’ve still got to say, though, that Kate made it special. Without amazing food (which it was!), service makes the experience complete. Thank you to the entire team. I urge anyone thinking about dining at Sushi San to simply go!!!! I don’t even eat sushi and there is so much on the menu for me. Thanks again. Try it out for an amazing lunch or dinner. I can’t wait to go back.

Delicious sushi and plenty of cooked items to choose from, as well. Five o'clock reservations worked perfect, as we were able to enjoy happy hour specials (drinks & apps) and then the place was packed by 6:00. Service was prompt and courteous!

I’ve been here a few times and last night was “meh”. Ordered the megladon sushi platter. Came with a variety of nigiri, sashimi, and rolls. Half of them were good and the other half had poor texture and were quite fishy. I will not be coming back to this restaurant because there are better sushi places to go to in the city. Sushi-San is more of a happy hour place to get drinks now than a serious sushi restaurant.

The menu is good — comprehensive, varied, innovative. The service is fine — knowledgeable, attentive but not hovering. Nigiri, a variety, was our choice this evening; it’s our acid test for quality. While fresh enough, there was no sparkle to any of our six or seven nigiri choices. A couple were just too salty. For us, that’s what you can add with soy sauce, to taste. And wasabi can change the game in moderation, but the best nigiri for our needs is already covered or immersed in its own flavor before it hits our table. We also chose the salmon avocado maki which, though not amazing, proved to be just fine. On balance, this should be better — and certainly could be, for it has promise.

Absolutely delicious whether you like sushi or not. If you do, this will be your new favorite restaurant. If you don’t, there are still plenty of delicious, delicious things to eat. Try the wobbly pancakes for dessert!

Superb experience and some of the best sushi we have ever eaten. D-Luxe nigiri was worth every penny. Portion sizes were perfect and easy to order more. Great service and relaxed vibe. Great for a quick bite or a gourmet dinner.

We always love Sushi-San and we found our experience this time to be about the average experience you would get whenever you come into this restaurant. The service is OK with just mediocre levels of sincerity from the wait staff, with the exception of the host/hostess who are extremely patient and well managed even with the levels of intensity a Saturday night brings to the table. The food is always great, however, with no dish being unworthy or ill tasting. The quality of fish remains consistent with each visit. The standout dish for me is always the spicy tuna aburi, but I don’t think the price point justifies the quantity. If you want to get a bang for your buck, come at happy hour, but if you’re willing to spend $150+ on 7-10 pieces of sushi come during their regular hours. Great food and great staff, but just know you won’t get an intimate experience like a nicer omakase restaurant.
