Welcome to Okeya Kyujiro Our Omakase Experience is a chef’s choice menu consisting of seasonal ingredients mainly sourced from Japan. It includes approximately 25 courses with mostly sushi.
IMPORTANT INFORMATIONS
Please let us know before taking a reservation any allergies or food restrictions to know if we can possibly accommodate your needs. We do not accept outsiders food or alcohol in our establishment. We do not have a kid’s menu.
RESERVATION AND CANCELLATION POLICY
Reservation must be cancelled 48 hours in advance. Failure to cancel by this time will result in a cancellation fee. Parties of 5+ full will be required to pay the full price in advance plus 20% service fee. A valid credit card is required to make the reservation. To cancel a reservation, simply cancel through the OpenTable email confirmation or email us: info@okeya.ca

This was an incredible dining experience. From the moment we sat down to the moment we left, I was in awe. It was a full performance with a wonderful dinner. I am so grateful we could celebrate our 1 year anniversary here. If you have a chance to dine here, you won't be disappointed.

Amazing Omakase experience with a show that puts it as an outstanding night. Fresh and seasonal menu stands well above the others. Would highly recommend for special occasions or celebrations as it was exceptional!

If you are a fan of sushi/sashimi you will most definitely love this restaurant. It is some of the most fresh seafood I have ever tasted, zero “fishy” taste. Compared to all the other omakase restaurants in lower mainland (there is not many) this one is by far the best, and the price definitely reflects that. They mix in some tasty palette cleansers, bbq wagyu and seafood, as well as some tasty deserts. Alcohol is not included, but can purchase some good quality sake at a fair price. To keep people coming back year round, the menu changes seasonally. Will be back next season if I can last that long without it.

even though I was late to my reservation, I was met with great hospitality and services from everyone. food quality and portion were excellent and definitely a theatrical omakase experience.

What an absolutely incredible experience. I've been to many restaurants round the globe and this is without a doubt one of the best ones I've been able to experience. The food, the atmosphere, the service, it was all excellent and just on point. I would definitely love to come back. おけや久次郎の皆様、素晴らしい体験をくださって本当にありがとうございました。

Awesome experience and food for a special occasion. I wouldn’t come back for a casual date night/ dinner. Food was really good and menu does change seasonally.

Fantastic experience, the staff were lovely and the food amazing! I only wish it were a little less expensive $325/person seams a tad high but it was a wonderful experience none the less.

This was an incredible dining experience. When I booked i didn’t realize that it was a set menu. We were a couple minutes late for our reservation not realizing they were waiting on us to begin. Dont be late. Enjoy the experience and the amazing amount of detail that goes into the presentation.

Very good service and nice atmosphere with the background music. Very relax and nice to see the whole show in front of you. Will recommend to arrive 15 minutes early to get the front seat also you can have time for yourself to prepare the show.

Sushi Okeya Kyujiro offers perhaps the most exquisite dining experience available in Vancouver. The "theatre" is the "chef's table" omakase style of presentation of the food. Some two dozen courses prepared and assembled in front of the diners with incredible and unbelievable precision - an unimaginable level of choreography and coordination of the dinner. Chef nailed each and every dish. Most deserving of its Michelin star. Truly, a "must-try" for Vancouver.

No much of interaction or “performance “ from the chief. The only communication is the name of the food about to eat. The food quality is good, however lack of the diversity of the taste texture.

I gifted a lunch experience to a family member at this restaurant, and it was truly amazing! The thoughtfully curated dishes and setup impressed us. The food was incredibly fresh and delicious. Absolute the best omakase I had in Canada. Some of the dish from the 15 courses is the best I ever had. I’ll give shimaaji nigiri a 100 out of 100. Didn’t know it could this good. Other dishes are on point but not as impressive as the shimaaji but I definitely wouldn’t say they are bad. Also love their presentation. Would definitely come back to try their dinner course next time I visit Vancouver.

Food was good as in most omakase, but there was not enough of it and no option at the end to order extra dishes (unlike most other Michelin omakase). There was too much theatrics and faux ritualizing by the staff accompanied by loud music which I thought was pretentious. The staff also asked about special occasion and I said it was a special get together end of year but they didn’t provide us with any special dessert unlike our neighbors! Seems only birthdays are recognized.

バンクーバーは「世界の寿司の都」と呼ばれていますが、正直なところ、ここで本格的な日本料理店を見つけるのは簡単ではありません。結局のところ、多くの非日系の人々が運営する「北米版」の寿司店が、地元の美食家に多くの妥協をしているため、多くの人々が本物の日本料理の味を忘れてしまっています。もちろん、もう一つ重要な理由は、北太平洋の海産物の種類と品質が、日本海や東海に比べて劣っていることです。そのため、バンクーバーでomakazeの日本料理を提供することは、日本本土と比べるのは言うまでもなく、東部のトロントと比べても、勝つのはかなり難しいです。結局、新鮮な原材料がなければ、どんなに良いシェフでも一流の味を出すのは難しいです。しかし、桶屋久次郎はかなり努力していると言えます。バンクーバーで最高級の桶屋久次郎は、2024年版のミシュランガイドで星1つを獲得しました。バンクーバーにミシュランで1つ星以上の店がないので、この店はバンクーバーの日本料理の最高峰と言えるでしょう。久次郎は小さながらも非常に精巧な店で、全12席しかありません。席の配置は舞台のようで、準備の前期は大劇の開幕前のようにカーテンが閉まり、照明が暗くなります。指定時間になり、全員が揃うと、竹の節の音とともにカーテンがゆっくり上がり、照明が明るくなり、シェフが登場して、ショーが始まります。戯曲化された儀式感が十分です。私たちが注文したのは15品のランチで、夕食とは量や内容が異なる可能性があります。3種類の前菜、蒸し卵、7品の寿司（それぞれが一品）、うに、そば、カニと魚卵のご飯、オトロ巻き、玉焼き、デザートが含まれています。全体的には、品種がやや単調で、特別な料理は多くありませんが、一番良かったのは炙りオトロ寿司とオトロ巻きで、これは原材料の優れた品質に大きく依存しています。宮崎A5そばの味付けは良かったですが、私の牛肉は意外にも少し乾燥していて、少し失望しました。寿司のソースはやや単調で塩辛いので、場合によっては素材本来の味を奪ってしまうことがあります。サービスは非常に良かったです。特に日本語でコミュニケーションを取ると、より親近感が増し、数年ぶりに訪れていない東京に戻ったような一瞬がありました。

The omakase was excellent. Better than Miku or Sushi Mahana (both very good omakase restaurants in their own right). That alone speaks volume. Service was impeccable. Not once did I need to ask for anything: both water glass and sake cup were refilled without asking, multiple times during the evening. Moist hand towelettes were constantly replaced with new ones. There’s no doubting why Sushi Okeya Kyujiro received a Michelin star, it is well deserved. You get what you pay for, and I will repeat. Once you get a taste of fine omakase, there’s no going back to inferior ones.

By far best dining experience I have ever had, staff was amazing so nice and respectful, the chefs were incredibly skilled and passionate about their craft. The food was incredible, so well thought out and beautifully presented. It was my husband’s birthday and they treated him so well and at the end one of the chefs played “happy birthday” on the violin. We are both so blown away.
