Overall, it was a decent/ok experience. First time there, had dinner with my husband and an old friend on a Wednesday night. We were sat close to the front door, which was kept open, making it both noisy and chilly. We tried a roll, the Peruvian scallops, some sashimi and the nigiri sampler. The scallops with the quinoa were by far the best bite we had. The role, sashimi and nigiri were good, but were about 15% off, flavor-wise. A little on the bland side. Could've used more of a pop of citrus, salt, brine -- something. I may try it again, but then again, I may not.

Certainly good and unique but I do not need to go back anytime soon. We both felt that the portions were small and the value was only fair. There are many other sushi/Japanese restaurants in the Long Beach area that we would rather dine at. Having said that, we both felt that the Bixby Knolls location was better. Cheers!

Sushi Nikkei is not your typical sandwich sushi bar which we love. No CA rolls, no imitation krab just the best flavors of sushi around. We haven’t tried one thing we didn’t like.

Rating: 8/10 Hubby and I first time eating here, the food was phenomenal but the service was terrible. Our reservation was at 5:30pm, ended up leaving around 7pm, during those 1.5 hours the waiter came to check on us TWICE. The whole time we had to chase him down to order more sushi…it was a busy Sunday night and they might’ve been short staffed so can’t be too mad but will give their other location a try since the food was fantastic!

The food was delicious. They put a very interesting spin on traditional sushi, with their Peruvian heritage. The flavors were unique and unexpected. The service was great, and the staff definitely understood the menu items when we asked lots of questions. It was a recommendation from a friend, we will definitely be back.

The service was excellent. The food was delicious. Definitely will go back for the Peruvian ceviche, Parmesan scallops, and the soft shell tempura. Can’t wait to go back and also try new foods.

Had some sushi rolls with unexpected flavors, the Peruvian influence. Tuna belly was outstanding, both octopus dishes were a little disappointing. The place serves mostly small plates.

Our meal was fantastic, as was the service. We ordered several of the Tiraditos, the eight piece sushi, and one roll. Our favorites were the octopus and the tuna shiso. We will definitely be going back to eat.

This is a great Michelin Guide Family restaurant! The Peruvian flair and quality of the Sushi makes for a great experience. The price for the experience and quality make this a must try. It came to me highly recommended and I highly recommend it.

Food was amazing! Sushi with a twist. Each dish we ordered has a unique sauce or topping to it. Would definitely recommend for a great date night.

The service was good, server was busy so she didn’t come by often. We had to ask for the check a couple of times. But she did a great job when she came and even knew we were celebrating a birthday and bought a dessert and sang. The food was better than I had expected!

I was there to celebrate my bday and since having to been to the Bixby Knolls location, I was wondering if the food would taste the same. The answer is yes! Exactly the same deliciousness bite after bite. The difference here was our server Stephanie was definitely going above and beyond for my bday. I was able to score an off menu salmon belly dish which had flavors I’ve never experienced before. So much was going on with my bday and of course some sake, I didn’t get to take pictures of everything. But trust me, just come here and your taste buds will thank me later.

Sushi Nikkei is fantastic. The food is delicious, fresh, and authentic - a true taste of Peruvian-Japanese fusion - and the service is great. I especially recommend the Grilled Scallops, and the Acebichado roll. If you like traditional tiraditos, they've got them!

I recently dined at the 5 Star Sushi restaurant, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The ambiance was inviting, and the service was top-notch. The sushi selection was fresh, beautifully presented, and tasted heavenly. Each bite was a burst of flavor and delight. I highly recommend this place to any sushi lover looking for an unforgettable dining experience. Five stars well-deserved!

What an amazing take on Sushi... Peruvian style! Brought my son and his girlfriend here for special dinner to celebrate his 25th birthday! Oh my... what a delightful offering of sushi! My one tip would be to ask them NOT to bring the soy sauce. The flavors from the spices and traditions of Peru are mindblowing and soy sauce is not needed. Everyone in the restaurant was gracious and attentive. We tried many different offerings that allow us to sample a lot. Oh my... just go... great food, service, ambiance!
