We are excited announce that we will have new reservation system starting May 15th. Check out Instagram!
A reservation must be modified or canceled no later than 5 PM the night before the reservation date.
We serve 15 omakase courses. We feature seasonal fish daily, often accommodating individual preferences, such as kosher-style & gluten-free. However, there are no vegetarian, or vegan alternatives.
We are open from Wednesday to Sunday and offer 3 seatings, 5:30 PM, 7 PM, and 8:30 PM.

My wife enjoyed every dish our sushi chef crafted for us, especially the sea urchin roe from Japan combined with salmon roe. The service was as attentive as the food was elegant and delicious. A culinary treat.

Been here 3 times, the fish is always delicious and excellent quality. The staff is very nice and accommodating with dietary restrictions or even subbing out things you are uncomfortable with. Would and will definitely come back!

Thanks for accommodating my request of an earlier pre show dinner. Sushi chef had to start my omakase at a different time than others. Ingredients were top notch, some seems to have been aged, very delicate! Planning to go back again!

Food-- very very tasty, flavorful, punchy. I even had one or two bites of food that I had never had before, which is saying something given how frequently I go to omakase spots in the city Service-- attentive and friendly Ambiance-- unfortunately this is where I docked a couple stars, the smell inside the restaurant was very unpleasantly fishy, totally at odds with how wonderful and fresh the food was

We’ve been here almost 10 times in the past 6 months. The entire experience is truly excellent. All of the staff are fantastic — extremely kind and helpful. The food is 10/10 delicious — very fresh and perfectly garnished. We love the variety and differences in menu each time we come, and love how consistently excellent the food and service always is. This is a can’t miss omakase.

Amazing amazing food, sushi and service. Top notch Omakase. However, the place is a bit run down. The table is used heavily, the lighting is too bright and bathroom a bit shabby. Temperature regulation in the restaurant is also problem.

Great experience. Highly recommend for a date night. I brought my wife of 10 years but honestly would make a great first date spot. No dessert but you could end the date at Levains for some cookies

Sushi Kaito is an absolutely fabulous sushi experience! My husband and I have gone multiple times and we have never been disappointed. Prospective diners need to understand that it is an omakasa restaurant - serving a chef-selected sushi-only meal. It is not a place to go if you want to get other types Japanese food. If you have specific allergies, some substitutions are possible, but if you cannot eat fish and/or shellfish don't go there. The sushi is absolutely fresh and prepared right in front of you. There are no tables. All the guests sit at a sushi bar, facing one of the chefs. When he places the next piece of sushi in front of you, he tells you what it is. It is fun to watch the chef's skill. There is a wide choice of cold saki and one can also order beer, wine, or hot saki. Hard liquor isn't on the menu. I highly recommend Sushi Kaito. Having eaten sushi in other sushi restaurants, including some in Japan, I can assure you that no sushi restaurant is better and most are not as good. Reservations are essential and it is wise to make your reservation well in advance.

Hidden gem on the UWS with a fantastic omakase experience. Counter seating only, 12 seats, three seatings per evening. We chose the standard omakase menu which featured two small bite appetizers, 13 beautifully prepared, delicious nigiri, a toro hand roll and dessert. Each bite was better than the next, and it was fascinating to watch the chefs at work, who are clearly masters of their craft. Service was outstanding, attentive but not overbearing. We will definitely be back!

Kaito is such a small gem like place, friendly atmosphere, customers (most of them seem “onajimi” = repeaters) are also nice! I will come back for the next Birthday again!

I got the omakase and it’s nice because you don’t have to all be sitting at the same time with the other guests. It can be individual or with your arrived party. It’s $115 with appetizer, 14 courses, and a dessert. Tax and tip not included. Fresh selections. My faves were the striped Jack and golden eye snapper.

This tiny sushi counter (I think it seats only 10 people, maybe 12) has great fish and skilled sushi chefs. They only serve omakase, which is reasonably priced for the quality. It's a neighborhood gem for sure.

Exceptional value, quality fish, great presentation and attentive staff lead to an excellent dining experience..omakase only; sashimi appetizer, followed by 14 pieces of varied fish, a hand roll and dessert for $115 a person..IMHO an excellent value…and they remembered my wife’s birthday!!!
