We were a little put off by going to the basement and then through a graffiti covered door. But once the door was opened, it was an oasis of calm with two sushi chefs slicing fish. We went with the prepared menu. Each piece was more delicious than the last. And eating the sushi one piece at a time made it even all the more special. The rice was the most delicious I’d ever tasted. And the sauces were all so good. Our sushi chef was very interactive and friendly. His favorite piece was the fatty tuna - and he was right - it melted in your mouth! The host was very friendly and checked on us frequently. He let us stay a little longer as there wasn’t anyone coming in right after us. We left Sushi Bou very satisfied and making plans to return.

Love sushi by bou because you walk in and wouldn’t ever think you’re in the middle of times sq. Tight quarters limits guests to 8-10 max(?) which is perfect in terms of noise level. R&b/reggae/dancehall classics + fresh omakase? Deal.

This was by far the best sushi we have ever had. Absolutely incredible experience. We never have been brave enough to do a sushi experience where they pick the items. They picked a perfect lineup for us to try and love.

Seriously, I've eating here 3-4 times now and I love it every time. I typically go for business lunches and everyone I take here loves it. Super cool vibe, amazing omakase style sushi. I can't wait to go back.

This was my second visit and I got to taste new items. If I could eat here every night of my life, I would. I wish we had even just 15 extra minutes to eat bc everything moves so quickly. By the time I realized that I was still hungry, my plate had been cleared and the chefs had already cleaned up.

It was a very small, cramped and unpleasant location. I would never have gone if I knew what it was going to be like. The sushi was excellent. Also, the food was served incredibly fast. A good place for a fast meal before theater.

The food was good, especially for the price which is reasonable for NYC. However, the meal moved pretty quickly - other reviews had stated this prior to us dining there, so we were aware that this would be the case. But an omakase flows better when you have the chance to really enjoy the dish before the next one is already in front of you. The chef seemed nice, but since the dishes were being served quickly, there was not a lot of interaction or explanation of the food, which is makes an omakase more enjoyable. The sake flight that we purchased went well with the omakase. Overall, since we knew ahead of time that the omakase might be quicker than on average, it was a decent experience for the price point. But there are definitely better omakase experiences in the city, without going top-of-the line in cost.

Omakase is $60 for 12 pieces, which is a great value for good sushi. There are only 9 seats at a counter at this location, so I suggest using OpenTable to book a reservation.

Fantastic omakase experience. The sushi is stellar (and I have been to many omakase experiences in NYC, including some far more expensive). It’s a little more on the creative side than traditional omakase but not as eclectic as Gari. The sake flights are also fantastic. The chefs are so friendly and talkative. Every time I’ve been here I am thrilled!

This was a wonderful experience. It’s a quiet small space, maybe 10 seats at a counter where the chef prepares and serves you each omakase course. Each course was delicious and different. Melt in your mouth. Several courses offered uni. There was also toro and salmon but presented uniquely. Chef and staff were welcoming and friendly. Entrance to restaurant is unprepossessing — down cellar steps to a basement door. I think I wasn’t sure I was in the right place but I was very glad for the experience. We also had a flight of sake with the meal. I highly recommend trying the flight. I can’t wait to go back.

AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING! If you’re in NYC you absolutely HAVE to go. The chef was absolutely amazing, you’ll meet a wonderful gentleman who will help navigate the experience as well. The ambience was exceptional. Great music, people, and vibes. I would have eaten here several more times if we had the chance. Experience AND food was 10/10. Highly recommend and absolutely WILL be back next time we’re in New York!

We felt a bit rushed (12 pieces served in less than 30 minutes). The food is amazing, though, and the experience unique. Quite expensive (175$US + tip for 2 persons, 12 pieces each, and only one cocktail).

This is definitely a one time experience you must try. My biggest concern was the price is crazy. One glass of wine and sushi for 3 people, (8 pieces each) came to $277.00. That included a $45 tip. When we left the restaurant, we went and got pizza. I was expecting a little more of a dining experience.

I loved my experience! The chefs were so so nice and accommodating to everyone. The food was great and I definitely was full by the end of the service. The full omakase was a little expensive but you're paying for the experience and location so I would still come back or recommend for a pre show meal!

4th trip and never a shred of disappointment! My favorite sushi experience every time, and my guests are all now devotees! If you want an amazing omakase' with an absolutely unique experience, you need to let Max and the team at the Times Square location take care of you. I will be back often! Thank You!!
