Dina and Steve Samson are on the Westside with Superfine Playa - a California osteria serving light and bright Italian highlighting fresh, local produce and true California vibes. Located at Silicon Beach’s Runway Playa Vista, the duo will offer a full-service dining experience, opening with dinner and weekend brunch.
Superfine Playa features house-made pastas, wood-grilled meats and fish, and dishes highlighting seasonal produce. There is also a full-service bar with craft cocktails and a curated wine list, which focuses on family growers and winemakers. We are open daily for happy hour and dinner and brunch on weekends. Soon, we will also serve a hybrid NY and Neapolitan-style pizza made famous by Steve at Superfine Pizza in Downtown LA.

The food was excellent and the staff was nice. The two negatives were that they leave the windows and doors open at night. It was very cold in the restaurant. I like to have dinner not wishing I had brought a jacket. The second is that an Italian restaurant needs to have an espresso machine. Otherwise I nice addition to the Runwway

Excellent food and ambience. Steve Samson of Rossoblu fame runs Superfine Playa, and it shows in the quality of the food. The menu is not extensive - which means everything is special. Pastas are the standout — fazzoletti, bolognese and casarecce are all a must. The focaccia is excellent, as is the farro salad. Superfine downtown (near Rossoblu) feature the best pizza in LA. Superfine Playa has been promising pizza that is “coming soon” for months. Not sure what the hold up is, but go now anyway. And come back when the pizza is ready.

Love a high quality restaurant with incredible staff. This restaurant is one of the best n the city impeccable food quality and chef preparation. We love the caring and thoughtful customer service and care. This is a special place.

We had the breakfast plate - eggs, bacon, potatoes, and toast. Delicious. We also had the lemon ricotta pancakes - always a favorite! Good service from the friendly staff. We sat on the patio - heaters available if you are cold.

Absolutely atrocious. The host of this restaurant should immediately find another profession. His off putting demeanor, lack of professionalism and just all around rudeness should not be tolerated by the management of this restaurant not to mention by customers. First, he wasn’t even at the host stand when we arrived. We waited for 5 minutes for him to come to the host stand. Obviously we were already off to a less than stellar start, but wanted to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. Once he shows up, he proceeds to be very short and anything but a welcoming presence. We sat down and asked for 2 kids menus and 3 adult menus (which seemed to annoy him for some unknown reason despite the fact that a 10 year old and 12 year old were sitting front of him). We then proceeded to wait…and wait….and wait….no sign of a server. No one came by to pour water. No drink orders. Nothing. 20 minutes went by. Literally. Nothing. So I walk back up to the host stand and ask the guy if they can please have a server come by. For some reason he’s now annoyed with us…even though he actually should be embarrassed and apologetic! So anyway, then he marches over to our table and looks down at the table and sees full water glasses. He goes “well someone poured you water.” To which I explained, “yeah, I did!!” He then grumpily takes our order but as he grabs the menus (and without me saying anything to him) he obnoxiously and sarcastically says “you’re welcome” and walks off. Needless to say, I tracked the guy down and told him to cancel the order and we had enough of how completely rude he is. It’s no surprise this place was basically empty and I imagine it’s only a matter of months until it goes out of business. Pathetic and unfortunate for the other folks who work there that this guy cost them all money that night.

We enjoyed our most recent visit to Superfine Playa. We've eaten there several times before and it seems as though the restaurant is finally hitting its stride. The Housemade Focaccia was terrific as were the Sugar Snap Peas. The real star this time though was the Heritage Pork Chop that was well-seasoned and perfectly cooked. I'll definitely have it again. Service was efficient and friendly. All in all, it was a nice evening out.

The food was over salted, so much so that a few of us did not take more the. 3 or 4 bites, the night we went they were out of so many dishes, even the beer we wanted. The menu on line was very different than the one that we sat down too. Overall it was a huge disappointment The server was delightful and that was the best part!

The bolognese was practically tasteless. Needed sauce as it was very dry. How you serve a dish like this I’m not sure. The waitress was great and told us about the food. Sorry I’d rather spend my pasta money at Scopa.
