Jeff Mahin et Francis Brennan,chefs et partenaires du groupe Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises, apportent au Lincoln Park de Chicago, en Illinois, leur concept populaire de style californien, le Summer House Santa Monica. Les clients trouveront dans ce restaurant une ambiance conviviale et décontractée, un décor qui rappelle la Californie - celle qu'on surnomme le Golden State - et des ornements inspirés d'une maison de plage. Les chefs proposent un menu aux plats simples, préparés à la main avec des ingrédients locaux et inspirés par les saisons. Beaucoup des plats sont cuits sur le gril. Une carte soigneusement élaborée des vins de Californie accompagne le menu. Un comptoir de boulangerie, partagé avec le Stella Barra, propose une sélection de déjeuners frais avec des pâtisseries, des muffins et les célèbres biscuits du chef Mahin. Ces deux restaurants servent également du café torréfié localement de façon artisanale. Le Summer House Santa Monica est ouvert pour le dîner, le souper et le brunch de la fin de semaine.

    Bring your little chefs to Summer House for Kids Pizza Making! Every Monday to Thursday from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM, kids 12 and under can craft their own pizzas at the official pizza counter with our chefs for $7.95 plus tax (gratuity not included). Or opt for our tableside option, and have all the ingredients delivered to your table for the whole family to get in on the fun! Kids will wash their hands, use the flour to form the dough, spread their choice of red or white sauce, and build their zae with cheese and toppings of their choice. Once our team pops it in the oven, the pizza will be delivered back to your family’s table for an a-dough-able dinner. Please note, Kids Pizza Making is not offered during the weekend (Friday to Sunday).

                            I was actually really surprised by the food. At first glance when the food came out of the kitchen I wasn’t sure if we would enjoy it, it was actually pretty good for a chain. Their baked confections at the entrance are delicious! One thing I will say is the clientele here was a bit bougie … we walked across the street after our Barry’s class and felt a little out of place in our workout clothes.

                            Service was great but food was horrible. My pasta was dry with no sauce had, I had to order extra sauce. The 3 cold Tacos had no flavor for $30. Happy hour was from 4-6pm but you have to go to the bar separately from your dining table if not you are charged original price for all drinks although it’s happy hour. Overall not the best experience as a first timer.

                            It feels like a California oasis in the middle of Chicago, especially on a beautiful sunny day. Service was great, attentive but not overbearing. The margherita pizza was great, my 3 year old loved it. I had the Brussels sprout salad with grilled chicken which was decent, but could have used more vinaigrette. The portion size was good for lunch. The margarita pitcher was a great addition to our food. My favorite was the burrata! Crusty bread and a nice vinaigrette with arugula on the side. Delicious! I would definitely visit again.

                            Whitney was FANTASTIC, made my friends birthday a night to remember!!! She was such a good conversationalist and we will definitely be asking for her every time we go!!!

                            A great venue for a mid week brunch outing. We had great food and service. Definitely will be back!

                            Nice ambience ! Great waiter .. however the wait time was ridiculous even with booking a reservation . Reservation was for 12:45 pm and didn’t get seated till 1:10pm . I’ll definitely come back again but maybe on a slower day

                            Good and drinks were great, but attentive service was lacking. Our server had too many tables to tend to which meant we didn’t get visited much! I had the Cobb Salad with prawns. The grilled prawns were excellent and so much flavor! I also had the Frose cocktail and a glass of aix. All delicious. We got some bakery cookies to go that were FANTASTIC.
