Welcome to Sugarbird Cafe, Montrose, CA's unique scone and tea cafe.
Nestled in a cozy, shaded outdoor courtyard, it's the perfect spot for casual tea under the Cali sun, with limited indoor seating for a more intimate vibe. Variety of scones, from classic strawberry buttermilk to unique Cali-inspired flavors like fig rosemary, all perfectly crunchy outside and moist inside. Elevate your tea experience with our handcrafted teas, delightful tea sandwiches, and house-made jams. Please note, we need 36 hours advance notice for special dietary requests for wheat-free, vegan, or kids menu, 10 & under. 18% gratuity is auto-included on the bill & parties of 6 or more will have a 20% charge.

Come relax in our charming outdoor courtyard and enjoy a casual tea service under the ginkgo trees. Our classic menu includes two mini scones, house-made vanilla clotted cream, and strawberry thyme jam, plus an assortment of mini seasonal sweets: mini fruit tart, fresh fruits, seasonal meringue, guava and passion fruit pâte de fruit gummies, strawberry blondie bites, matcha white chocolate blondie bites, and brownie bites. No tea sandwiches included. Perfect for sunny days, but if it rains, use your reservation credit to come back soon or sit inside at our cozy cafe. Price per person includes tax and an 18% gratuity for our hard-working, tea-loving team. Split charge: $7.

It is a very quaint little cafe. My Mom and I enjoyed our time very much. Everything we ate was good and there was a nice variety to choose from. It was a sweet way to spend Mother's Day. We would go again.

Ambiance was super cute! I loved the table setting and tea cups/pots. The scones were delicious and had so many flavors!

What a beautiful experience to have in celebrating my birthday with a girlfriend. We were giddy with the amount of cuteness that exuded from the tea house. I can’t wait to go back and take my mom! It’s everything you would want from a high tea and more!

Amazing place. Personable, attentive and overall excellent. It was our first time aIt was an amazing experience with personable and attentive service overall. This was our first visit, and we will definitely return.

Loved the cosy atmosphere of this tiny tea room ( two tables inside) but with more seating outside under umbrellas. The scones were imaginative and delicious as was the special chai tea served that day. The staff was kind and attentive.

I was expecting an afternoon tea with my granddaughter. The pictures on the website are misleading. This is more of a walk-in baker with two very small tables infront of the counter, right next to the door, which can seat a maximu of 4. The food was barely tolerable. The bread was stale. I had tried to pre-order some child-friendly sandwhiches (through an email that they had sent me the day before, confirming) for my 5-year-old granddaughter. When we got there, they only had adult sandwiches. There was one turkey sandwich that she liked but it had arugala greens on it and I asked if they could remove it? They said, "No" that the sandwiches came pre-made. So I had to remove it. It was just an very unpleasant and unexpected experience for $99 dollars for two people. I would like a refund, but doubt that's going to happen.

A bit expensive for what it is, but that may be reflective of the area. Scones were good with a wide selection, but the rest of the food was average. Service was slow - after waiting 20 minutes after finishing our food and tea, I had to go inside and ask for a check.

Cute outdoor cafe with delicious scones and tea. My party had a variety of flavors and everyone enjoyed their choices. My favorites are the matcha white chocolate , ube coconut and chocolate chip. The options for vegetarian sandwiches and vegan/gluten free scones were yummy and appreciated.
