Sugar n’ Spice has been delighting Cincinnati area diners with its secret-recipe Wispy Thin Pancakes, Huge Fluffy Omelettes, Signature Creative Sandwiches, Specials and more for over 75 years. The breakfast and lunch menu has changed little since Mort Keller established the restaurant in 1941. They apparently don’t take reservations on open table so they didn’t even try to accommodate us. If you don’t take reservations on this site then take it off of here. Really sad cause it was for a birthday and non of us had ever been there.

Food was OK but with the exception of the omelet, the portions were so small! We left there to go to the pumpkin patch and had to stop at McDonalds because both boys were still hungry. My corn beef hash had less than a 1/4 cup of hash on it, luckily I ordered an extra egg! The noise was deafening!! Service was slow, had to ask for coffee refills, forgotten order items.

I ordered the Egg Benedict and pink lemonade mimosa. My eggs were over cooked but everything was still delicious. Whoever made the hollandaise sauce is my new favorite person for it.

second time in a row coming here for breakfast with terrible service and cold food. we waited 40 minutes for our food after ordering and weren’t offered refills and no one stopped at our table during this time. when our food finally came it was cold. i understand it’s a busy weekend morning, but it’s a breakfast restaurant so should be able to handle the regular brunch rush.

We come to Sugar and Spice on a regular basis for breakfast. This was by far the worst experience we’ve ever had there. Our server smelled like garbage. No refills, no checking back. Seemed very confused. They forgot my kids scrambled eggs with cheese (which is no big deal) BUT when they finally brought them out, the eggs were cold and had frozen shredded cheese on top (not melted). I had ordered my pancakes with pecans. They forgot and brought me plain pancakes. When I asked for pecans, they brought the same pancakes out with a few pecans on top. My other child was served raw sausage links. I know good people are hard to find in the restaurant business but this was AWFUL.

Went with a large group and they had a fabulous table waiting for us. Servers were attentive and friendly. We loved the decor and rubber duckies were a hit.

Food was delicious!!! Pancakes light and fluffy, crispy bacon, great eggs, breakfast burrito was yummy, hash browns and French toast fabulous! Simply a great way to wake up! Stacy was delightful as well…great service!

Consistently pleasant staff. Pretty noisy in the larger of the room. Packed in pretty close, so would be hard to avoid COVID. Good food, reasonably priced.

Sugar and Spice has been a go-to breakfast spot for a while for us. It is a little crazy on the weekend and the kitchen is a little on the slow side as a result, but the food always delivers. I feel like you have to rate a place for what it is - SnS is a diner-style breakfast/brunch joint and they do it well. The coffee hot and flowing. The favorites are all here - omelets, their signature thin pancakes, breakfast sandwiches, waffles, and my favorite, corn beef hash with over easy eggs. This came with a side of bread, I chose English muffins. I also got a local favorite - a generous side of goetta. I always wanted to try their lunch food like a burger/fries/shake, but can never get off the breakfast menu! OTR is the same food as the original location just a lot bigger. There seems to always be a wait at the original, but it's fun to see it.

This was my fourth time eating at Sugar n Spice and I am sad to say I will never be returning. I made a reservation for a party of 4 several days in advance and it was apparent from the moment my party arrived that the staff was wanting us to eat and leave as quickly as possible. Another member of my party arrived early and was sent to 2 different tables before settling down at the table we ate at, and this actually ended up not being a big deal considering the absolutely terrible service we received. First, the server messed up one of our orders and did not apologize for the mistake. Approximately 15 minutes after receiving all of our meals, the server asked us if we were ready to pay for our checks, and we kindly said that she could bring our checks but that we were still eating (recall this was 15 minutes into the meal). 10 minutes later, the individual seating tables abruptly came to our table and asked rudely if we were ready to “cash out” despite the fact that we were still eating and that we had only been at the restaurant for a cumulative 30 minutes at this point. We said that we were still eating, and 10 minutes later our server returned and rudely scolded us, saying “this table is reserved and you need to leave.” I asked the server what time the reservation was twice and she pretended not to hear me and instead scolded for a “lack of courtesy.” Keep in mind at this point we had been at the restaurant for a total of ~45 minutes and both the server and the person seating customers had singled out our table and accosted us for no reason. After this interaction my party left—I have never had an experience like this and I am embarrassed to have brought others to an experience like this. Extremely rude and unprofessional staff.

The service was terrible: no utensils, no syrup, told there was no milk for oatmeal - had to show wait staff that we had had a cup of milk for coffee before she suddenly remembered they had milk. the food was almost inedible and served cold. Two out of five of us did not eat our food. Very disappointed, as this had not been our prior experience.

Got to restaurant at reservation time. Told that their kitchen was backed up and couldn’t seat us for at least an hour. Even though we had reservation. Pretty dismissive and not apologetic at all. Left she went somewhere else.

Sugar and Spice has the best pancakes I've ever had! Unfortunately the staff put off such a negative vibe immediately it kind of made the whole thing uncomfortable. The hostess was not at the front and a line was forming. A waitress tried to help seating and the hostess showed up and they started to argue infront of all the customers making a scene. When the waitress left the hostess tried to talk us all out of being seated because there was a wait though we had reservations. We asked to be seated anyway with the warning we might sit a while. Our waitress was so wonderful and the wait was not bad. This was a Monday afternoon. It was off putting and hope that doesn't happen to all customers. The food was so delicious and would love to try again with a better hostess.

We waited over 40 mins for our food. Once received everything was cold with the exception of 1 item. The only hot item was the pancake. Our bill was credited for everything except our drinks. We left without eating. We won’t be back anytime soon.

The food was fine nothing special. We were seated at the time of our reservation, but the service was slow - it took quite a long time to get our food a bit much if you have kids with you.

Getting seated (even with our reservation) took a long time. Host was MIA for quite a bit, eventually someone else stepped in but seemed confused... they obviously were not a typical host. Our server was nice enough and the food was great as always. Just frustrating lack of service upon arrival.

This was the first time in the many years that I have been going to this restaurant that I was extremely disappointed. The service was good but it was extremely slow waiting for our food many of the other patrons were so discouraged that they just left before they even got their food and once we did get our food it wasn't up to the same standards that were used to getting from this place so hopefully they were just having a bad day

One of our favorite brunch spots in the city. Super kid-friendly (our daughter's favorite place). Food is amazing, service was great. Highly recommend a reservation ahead of time, especially on the weekends. Can't wait to go back.
