I’m have been to STK before and LOVED it but NEVER go on a Mother’s Day dinner here! I made reservations and got the worst table for 3 people you could get, in a dark corner! They didn’t have a high chair for my toddler, which is VERY inconvenient but I saw others who came in after us get one, how disappointing! The food was good but the service was horrible! I will not step foot in this restaurant again, a waste of our time AND money!

San Diego location visit on 5/12/24 - Mother's Day. Party of 4 with seating at 1:30 PM. Booked at 1:30 PM thinking it would not be as crowded, but it was very crowded on the main level. (1) Upon entry, the DJ was so loud my kids (ages 13 and 17) turned around and went back outside to the sidewalk because they didn't think they could handle how loud it was. I suppose others complained because the DJ did turn down the volume. (2) Our waiter was nice but didn't come around very often at all. (3) Parmesan crusted lamb chops - great! (4) 6 oz. Filet with scrambled eggs and 3 pancakes - pancakes tasted 'burned', very thin and dense, not fluffy. Couldn't eat them, tried two bites and stopped. Eggs had no flavor and were very dense and heavy, tried two bites and stopped. I did eat the Filet and it was good. (5) Traditional macaroni and cheese - my 13-year old was happy (6) Larger Filet - my 17-year old was happy, no sides ordered (7) No refills offered on iced tea or lemonade, but they definitely kept our water glasses filled (8) $233 bill before tip. Was not worth it, and I've been to STK before for dinner and had a great meal.

Food quality is ok, I’ve definitely had better for the price you’re paying. Our waiter was terrible, he didn’t check on us once, the only time he came back was to give us our check. Prices are similar to Ruth and Chris, but I’ll tell you the quality is no near Ruth and Chris.

We visited to celebrate our anniversary. My wife and I have visited most fine dining establishments in San Diego, and those we have not, we have a list to check those off. We build a preferred list so we know which we would visit again. This was our first time at STK, we were very excited because we had heard good reviews, and unfortunately we were not impressed. First impressions were the person that sat us. She seemed bothered by our presence, or the fact that she was walking us to our table. Didn't make us feel welcomed. Next came our server, it was Tom. Tom was great! Great wine knowledge and he was proud to share he had just received his Somelier certification. When we were handed the menu, it was a piece of paper, and much like one would expect our young daughter to be handed at a family restaurant for her to draw on. Not impressed at all! Food was great, Tom's service was great. We paid more than the average fine dining establishment, and it did not give us fine dining feel or treatment. So for us, the perceived value was not there. We will not be returning to STK.

Worst birthday dinner EVER. I'm utterly shocked at the treatment I received that both was discriminatory and I want to say racially motivated. Ultimately, my experience was ruined and I walked away feeling disappointed and frustrated. For context, I booked a reservation for my birthday dinner (which was noted on the reservation). The server was well aware of the fact as it was my birthday since he did wish me happy birthday and knew we were celebrating. However, there was nothing done to make the dinner special. The server's name was Rafael. The bare minimum was done as food & drinks were served. Once we were done eating, all he asks is how we're going to pay. Literally ALL the surrounding tables got the birthday sparklers. I was surprised when we weren't even offered dessert or even just a sparkler to sing happy birthday? And I really want to give the benefit of the doubt but we were the only table that were people of color. Everyone around us was getting special treatment and I couldn't help but wonder if this treatment was racially motivated. l will never return to San Diego STK.

Truffle fries were disappointing. Steak (porterhouse) was good. Brought a bottle of wine to cork, took awhile to get it opened but they provided a decanter for it which was nice and our waiter did a good job of keeping our glasses full.

Was Estes in the worst place next to stairs in the smallest table in the restaurant. Asked to move to a different seat and was told there wasn’t any room even though there was many open table just for another couple to sit next to be in the booth where I wanted to sit. Will never go back and food gave me stomach issues for 2 days.

The experience was marred by a delay in being sat, over an hour, then no additional accommodations or Follow up for an hour. We’ve shared our concerns with the restaurants staff and the attempted to fix items at the end. Short list- water served an hour-plus after being sat, butane flamed steak crusts, and overall felt short of expectations.

We were celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary tonight and waited over an hour for our table. We were rushed through our meal, told 10 minutes after we ordered they were out of the pork chop my husband ordered, and then my Dover sole tasted like burnt oil. Truly disappointing for what is usually a great experience. The manager and hostess knew it was our anniversary too.

We got seated an hour and a half past our reservation time. Our waiter barely came to our table. My steak was overcooked. The restaurant was very loud. Overall, very poor experience and definitely not worth the price.

Food was ok but very overpriced, the service was not good. It took awhile to even be waited on and then we did get service, the waitress was very nice and accommodating but then it changed to someone else who was not very attentive. For the prices of this place, I would expect better service. Will not be returning.

We feel the service has started to go down at STK in the last six months. We’ve gone multiple times and had to wait a long time outside to get a table even though we had a reservation. It’s unacceptable for the high price point. We had to ask multiple times to get a water refill on our most recent visit in April 2024. I had to ask for dinner cutlery after our plates were cleared from the appetizers. I also had to ask for appetizer plates so we could share our salad. Steak is always great. Atmosphere is fun. Drinks are tasty. I don’t recommend doing a big group here unless you have a pre-set dinner menu. It’s too hard for the staff and kitchen to do 20 individual orders. We had a terrible experience with a group for a birthday. It was a disaster trying to get orders in with one server overwhelmed for an entire room of guests. More attention to detail with service in the future would help make the experience great like it used to be.

Matthew did a great job servicing our table as well as recommending some great options for entrees. The food was cooked perfectly to order and the bar made a great Old Fashioned. I make it a point whenever visiting San Diego to always eat at STK. Mahalo for another great dining experience.

Wow! The food and service were amazing! Our server made great recommendations and he was very attentive. We started with the tuna tartare, which was incredible! We also had the wedge salad, which was delicious. For drinks, I had the watermelon cocktail, which I enjoyed. My husband had two of the pear drinks, which he loved. For entrees, I had the salmon, which was good (although not as amazing as everything else). The tomatoes that came with it were excellent, while the broccolini was fair. My husband had the 6 oz. filet mignon and he added two shrimp and then got two types of sauces that were an additional $19, but he said, they were worth it. One of them was fired on! He absolutely loved the filet and shrimp and said it was one of the best meals he's ever had. We also got the mashed potatoes for a side, which were a standout because of the amazing parmesan crust! Honestly, the food was amazing; however, it was pricey. By the time tax and tip were added, it came to over $300 for the two of us, and we didn't get any dessert. I would go again though, as we loved it, but I might reserve it for a special occasion.

Very nice. Great food and a good wine list. This is not an inexpensive restaurant, but perfect for special occasions. Our server, Raphael was very good.

Loved the food, starting with the fresh bread and blue cheese butter! Everything was really good (and really expensive so be prepared) but the surprise was the corn pudding side! Go for a good time, not intimate conversation.

Food was great and server was good. The noise level with a DJ playing music for a younger generation was way to loud and definitely not to our liking to be able to enjoy what we thought was a good steak house. This sounded more like being in a club.

STK is amazing! I got the seafood tower and it's such a great experience. The wait staff was awesome, drinks are well curated and the steak was cooked perfectly the way I ordered. I got: *seafood tower * NY Strip * brussel sprouts I absolutely loved how Mark (the general manager) called me with the notes I made and clarified to make sure they can deliver what I was asking for. Truly exemplary!!

Our server Jordyn was amazing! We came to celebrate my friends 24th birthday, after spending the weekend in San Diego, we were honestly so disappointed in the service we had received during our trip. It seems like servers in California (at least in our experience this weekend) are typically very distant, dismissive, and unfriendly. Jordyn was a breath of fresh air and so much more!! She was clearly passionate about her job and was very knowledgeable about the menu. She treated us like we were millionaires, we felt seen, special, and very taken care of. All of her recommendations were stellar! Thank you Jordyn for making our evening great, and redeeming us from our horrible experiences with other servers at other establishments. It’s truly rare these days to encounter people who understand the value of hard work, passion, and genuine care for the people they are servicing. If California had more people like Jordyn, who are hard working, we would probably make a point to visit more often. If we are ever in the San Diego area again, we will 100% return to STK. We are looking forward to going back home and visiting the Scottsdale location. Thank you so much Jordyn for making our experience special!!

We booked this last minute as we wanted Sunday brunch after checking out of our hotel and this was well worth it. Very quiet when we arrived and it did not get much busier which in hindsight was surprising. Crab omelette was stuffed full of crab and really tasty, the avocado toast was also excellent, but if you like pork belly you have to try the Benedict. I have not had anything like this before but I certainly will again. Service was very attentive but not intrusive. This was an unexpected win at very short notice!

We came here only because my son works at the rooftop bar. We were pleasantly surprised and our waiter was awesome. Food was really good and service was great. The only thing is it was really loud with a DJ. We are older and we just don't get it. But still, we had a great time.

Food was outstanding, would having a perfect experience if the server didn’t take forever. Long wait time, we didn’t get our drinks until 30 minutes after we were sat . On the bright side must say, food made up for the wait.

We reserved a booth two weeks ahead of time but we were put at a table upstairs in the corner of a dark room with a speaker over our heads. Totally ruined the ambiance.

Fun atmosphere. Good food. Prices are a bit high for the level of atmosphere and food, but it is also probably reflective of the location, which is right next to Petco Park and in the Gaslamp so premium prices get charged.

An interesting experience. First off, it was the night of Sting-Billy Joel concert so they were running 15-30 minutes behind on reservations b/c people were staying longer than 90 minutes. The atmosphere is different. They had a DJ and passed out shots to Uptown Girl. Again, Billy Joel was playing at Petco. Food: Bread was bit salty but tasty and warm. Lobster tail sweet and cooked correctly, it was very good. NY strip cooked rare as opposed to medium. Tater Tots, excellent but untraditional. For dessert if you’re not doing the mini donuts you’d be doing it wrong. Our waiter Sean was excellent.
