STIR is the perfect restaurant to sip a craft cocktail over a dozen oysters, enjoy a night out, or meet for lunch. Located in the historic Chattanooga Choo Choo complex, the restaurant is an open-air concept with a large, heated outdoor patio. We are open for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch.

Great food starts with fresh, local ingredients. Our kitchen prepares everything from scratch, and our signature raw bar is stocked with fresh oysters and seasonal seafood.

STIR is famous for craft cocktails. We freeze and carve 300-pound blocks of artisanal ice in-house, age certain cocktails in oak barrels for richer flavors, and place others on draft for crispness and carbonation. The result: categorically elevated cocktails. Our passion for fine spirits also compels us to find and share rare bottles, many of which are extremely difficult to procure.

Seated fast but had a long wait to get started due short on servers. Fine after that. Food and drinks were excellent and the server was great.

Stir is nice when it isn't completely busy. Noise level can make it difficult to talk at a booth or table. In fact future visits will just be at the bar. Food is excellent. Never had a bad server in all the years. Menu has been evolving slightly but nothing drastic. The space is large and feels very different from other restaurants downtown. Has been on the list for downtown for many years. Check it out.

We have been here several times. Tonight the vibe was different, had open table res. Seated immediately but waited over 15 minutes for a server. Twice had to approach host to inquire and we were then moved to another table in a different section…Service was just ok. Food also, crab cakes came without sauces, filets were overcooked… not like this here past visits. Get it together Stir

Would have been a perfect score, but the room temp was a little cold and a side door was open and work next door was loud! Awesome establishment and service. We will be back!

Great restaurant. Jewel was a fantastic waitress and made our meal and time at Stir very enjoyable. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and was very prompt with drinks and food. I would definitely recommend Stir. The seared tuna and the lobster and shrimp Mac and cheese were fantastic. I will eat there again, when in Chattanooga.

Excellent food and service. The lambchops and ribeye steak were seasoned and cooked perfectly. Also delicious dessert- key lime coconut pie. SO good!

The ambience is great and lively. The service for us was severely lacking…it took over 15min for our server to return to take our order and another 15-min or more at the end of the meal to run the card to pay. We barely saw him otherwise. The beef filet was lacking any flavor and undercooked, and the broccolini that accompanied it was large stalks with few or skimpy florets. The sauce served with it was a thin beef stock gravy that seemed misplaced. Our son’s grilled chicken was delicious and the halibut piccata was also a great choice.

I made reservations here for my birthday after seeing it on many top restaurant lists for Chattanooga. I was disappointed. The service was very slow. The food was greasy. My check was wrong. I won’t be back and I’m disappointed this was my birthday dinner.

What an amazing experience! Addison was the perfect server. The food was delicious, and the special rum drink the bartender made for my husband and I was on point. This restaurant didn't disappoint. It was worth the two hour drive that we made.

One of the worst restaurant experiences I have had in a while. We were sat in the back room that was aggressively bright when it was 9pm. Our experience started off poorly when the wait staff didn’t inform us of out of stock appetizers before we ordered and looked through the menu. Then my drink was entered incorrectly, but the wait staff claimed it was correct but obviously wasn’t (I saw on the check they entered mezcal tequila which changes the drink entirely). And to finish it off they also rang in one of the dishes wrong so we had to wait an extra 15 minutes for food. Overall, poor experience and the wait staff didn’t seem concerned with all of the mistakes.

We were sadly very disappointed with our experience at STIR. Service at the bar was lacking. While they were busy, they rarely checked on us even though we were eating a multi course meal at the bar. We had to flag down the bartender multiple times. The menu looked impressive but, each course was ultimately very underwhelming. We got the charbroiled oysters (very small and nothing special), crab cakes (okay but again I’ve had much better from many restaurants), seared ahi tuna salad (buried in so much slaw that you could barely taste the tuna), and filet with house ravioli. The main course was recommended as the best thing on the menu and for us it was the worst. The ravioli was completely under cooked, not even al dente but still crunchy. The server had a new batch come out which was the exact same. He told us he would take it off our bill but when we got the check they did not deduct the entrée, only $9 which I assume is what they figured the ravioli portion of our entrée cost. While I understand this, it just would have been courteous of the restaurant to comp the entire entrée as we had already spent a significant amount and it really ruined our meal. I will not be returning.

The grouper over farro and roasted vegetables was exceptional in flavor and presentation. The crab cakes were just ok, and IMHO not worthy of the hefty $39 price. Stir is definitely the go to place for fresh oysters. We had wine, by the glass, and it took way too long to get it. We ate early, so things weren’t backed up yet, so it was aggravating to have to wait. The bartender and crew need to get their act together. Pouring a couple of glasses of wine should have been done quickly. A peeve for the evening - a guy was apparently training another server and their loud conversation was done right by our table. A suggestion — do the training privately and during a down time, when the restaurant isn’t busy. A few more hands on deck would have improved the service, since they could both have helped out the bartender, who couldn’t get drinks out quick enough. Still, a fun place to go, great oysters, and a varied fresh menu. We’ll be back.

We had went to have a relaxing dinner after work. The waiter seemed distracted and not interested in talking care of us. We only had an appetizer and drinks then decided to go somewhere else.

Food was fantastic - crab bisque, steak, shrimp Louie salad were all delicious! Interesting cocktail menu and a small but nice assortment of wines by the glass. Service was a bit uneven We waited quite a while before our server appeared. After ordering everything all went well until dessert. Waiting 10+ minutes for a piece of cheesecake was a bit much. The restaurant was very busy so I suppose that was part of it. Also how about some shading on those west facing windows?? Everyone was scrambling around trying to get out of the direct and blinding sunlight.

Didn't get outside seat as requested. Never mentioned wife's birthday that I had put in reservation info. Was seated inside next to the loudest party in the place. Requested a seat outside (again) and were moved to the covered patio. Every chair and table was covered in a thick coating of pollen which we had to wipe off ourselves. Appetizers took about 30 minutes, most of which was cold when it finally arrived. Entrees took about the same. A slice of cake took 15 minutes. The food was mostly good, just wish it had all been hot and a little more prompt. Server was obviously too busy because she never checked to see how any of our food was while we were eating it.

This was a first time visit to STIR for us and we LOVED it! Our server was fantastic, friendly and informative. He went through the entire menu with us and gave suggestions, popular items and took the time to answer any questions we had. We visited on a Saturday night and the restaurant was very busy, but we never felt rushed in any way. We will definitely be back the next time we are in Chattanooga!

We were in town for a concert. Dinner reservation was for 5:45. We’re seated right away. Server came around about 5 minutes later to take drink orders. We all ordered specialty cocktails from their drink menu. Took about 15 minutes to get our drinks. The oysters Rockefeller came out before the cocktails. They were so good we ordered another plate, as well as truffle fries. Second round of oysters came out, but no fries. We had not ordered our main course and had about an hour before we needed to leave for the concert. Flagged down a server to have her get our waiter. Truffle fries finally arrived just before our entrees. My friends ordered the steak and goat cheese ravioli and shrimp and grits. His steak had a pat of butter on it which was supposed to be melting. But it was solid because his steak was cold. Ravioli was also cold and cheese garnish was congealed. His wife’s shrimp and grits were lukewarm. Thankfully our server was gracious and apologetic and took his meal off their bill. Because we had to wait for everything we were late getting into our concert.

Cool and moody interior with friendly staff. Wonderfully unique menu offerings and absolutely delicious food. The chef clearly loves combining flavors and texture to create superior dishes.

The atmosphere was relaxing and inviting. Dinner was good. However, my meal was very spicy and I was not expecting it since it didn’t mention it would be spicy on the menu. Service was great!

The food is always great. we had a reservation for 5:15. we arrived early at 4:30 because we arrived in town earlier than anticipated. There was no one waiting and at least 8 or more empty tables. I told the girl we would like a booth. The girl checking me in said she would text me at 5:15. For 45 minutes we waited only to be seated in the same booth that had been empty the entire 45 minute wait. Maybe they were short handed or she just felt she could only seat us at our reservation time but, having 2 booths and several other tables empty we didn't feel like customer satisfaction was her goal. After being seated everything else was perfect.

What are you supposed to say when a waiter who is serving an adjacent table turns to you to ask how the meal you are starting on is? I told the truth (overcooked and dry), and the waiter acted the rest of the meal as though we were poison. Brought the check without asking if we wanted anything else. When I asked for a cognac, he asked "up or on the rocks?", and when I said "in a snifter" he said "we don't have that.

This place was not what we expected. The drinks were supposed to be their strong point, but they were a little strange and not well balanced. The ginger syrup was way too strong and was in so many things. The food was all over the place. Our oysters were great, and the chef’s board was very good, but the mains were not as great. My husband’s filet was ok, though the broccolini was overcooked. My crispy mahi bowl was terrible. The pieces were super heavily breaded and very dry. The whole dish - including the sushi rice - was also extremely fishy. Very disappointing.
