Superb food and friendly knowledgeable service. Just a pity they forgot it was a birthday treat for my wife! I doubt you will get a better quality lunch anywhere in the area though!

Just brilliant. What immaculate fun and friendly warm service every single time (and there have been plenty!). Great special this week - onglet ‘kebab’, superb fish and of course sides. Really well kept snd chosen cheesss and exceptional - assuming in house made - biscuits with them. Lovely remarkably good value wine list with a terrific Albariño. Overall just so well timed, execution of creative menu and brilliant evening because of the people. Outstanding.

We had another wonderful dinner at Sticky Walnut last night. My starter was the crispy spiced carrot cakes: really exciting combination of flavours and textures, with just the right amount of heat from the chilli. The main course was a perfectly cooked fillet of cod with deliciously creamy mashed potato, matched with broccoli cooked to retain a little crunch. And the desert- rhubarb and set vanilla cream- was just spectacular, with a generous pistachio shortbread to complement it. The service was cheerful, unhurried and efficient. We will be back.

As a lover of elite bistro's it pains me to write a poor review but breakfast on Sunday was not am experience I'll be repeating. We love going to Sticky Walnut and Burnt Truffle for evening meals, but the breakfast was disappointing. I'm not sure whether there was staff sickness but there was only one member of waiting staff in. She was clearly struggling to keep up, although she remained positive, professional and upbeat at all times. Towards the end of the time we were there, kitchen staff were coming out to deliver orders to tables to assist. This clearly demonstrates good team working. More staff were coming in for the lunch shift as we left also. However, the food was the big let down. I'm a huge fan of a runny egg yolk, and understand how hard it is to get a runny yolk whilst ensuring whites are cooked through but this was definitely not achieved. Egg whites were 'snotty' which put me off eating the rest of the eggs. The sausage, although cooked through and decent quality was very pale, which resulted in it looking undercooked. The toast was disappointing too- knowing the food at sticky I was expecting at least thick sliced bread, but it was very thinly sliced. Overall, I'd not come back for breakfast. Maybe it's just not quite well oiled yet as breakfast is a relatively new addition, but I think we'll stick to evening meals (which get a 5* review from us every time!)

Lovely venue. The staff were extremely helpful and attentive, also giving some great advice about where to visit in Chester. The food was amazing and great value. Would highly recommend.
